They entered the American market at long last in 2002, and are now considered a major international player in shooting sports. Curiously, RIO’s parent company MAXAM was founded by Alfred Nobel, who is both the inventor of TNT and the founder of the Nobel Prize, which, of course, includes the Nobel Peace Prize.

Specifically, Schumer’s bill instructs the FBI to regulate body armor sales restricting them from people without an occupational purpose. The senator argues that too often, those with evil intent are buying body armor and that body armor has become part of a “checklist” for copycat killers.

Dick’s Sporting Goods should serve as a giant warning sign of the perils of practicing corporate gun control advocacy. To the tune of $150 million. And Levi’s. And Delta Airlines ($40 million annually). Now Walmart’s CEO is making noises that sound like he wants to sail those same perilous seas, too, signaling his company’s support for “common sense” gun control. Walmart has received immense pressure from anti-freedom organizations to stop selling guns after the shooting in one of their stores in El Paso. Because guns are bad.

Despite continual debate about gun control many Americans are likely unaware of their investments in gun manufacturers. Through mutual funds, index funds and exchange-traded funds, many Americans have unknowingly invested in gun companies. After Vista Outdoor announced the sale of Savage Arms last month, American Outdoor Brands (AOB) and Sturm Ruger are the only remaining publicly traded gun manufacturing companies in the United States. AOB has a market capitalization of $465 million, while Sturm has a cap worth $765 million, making them both small-cap stocks, according to financial services firm Morningstar.

As we continue to connect the dots regarding gun violence, bringing the lens of adverse childhood experiences into play creates a meaningful context for public discussion.

What brings this relationship to mind are the studies funded by the National Institute of Justice, highlighted recently by the Los Angeles Times on Aug. 4, 2019. The studies cited relate to a data-base going back to 1966 of every mass shooter who killed four or more people in a public place, and every shooting incident at schools, workplaces, and places of worship since 1999.

For years, the Democrats have smiled and told us that they have no intention of infringing rights, or taking anything away, or incarcerating their enemies, and we have known every time that they were lying. We have watched them redefine the language to change the foundations which we used to share as a country and have known why they are doing it. We have seen them progressively attack those who obey the laws, protect their families, pay their taxes, and wish to be left in peace.

Democrat Presidential hopeful Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, the full-flip career politician from New York who was pro-gun as a congresswoman from her district but went full throttle anti-gun when she was elected to the U.S. Senate, says she would push a “buy-back” program for so-called “assault weapons” and for felony charges against those who refused to comply.

Appearing on CNN, Gillibrand stated, “The point is you don’t want people using assault weapons so the point is if you’re arrested for using an assault weapon you’re going to be arrested for an aggravated felony. The whole point is when you make it a crime to own an assault weapon then if you are found using it, that would be the issue. It would be part of law enforcement.”

On Thursday, five Democratic Senators sent a warning to the Supreme Court saying that the high court could find itself “restructured” if it continued (to paraphrase the Senators) playing politics and bowing to conservative special interests. Because the warning was sent as part of a brief asking SCOTUS not to hear a 2nd Amendment case — its first in nearly a decade — some now wonder, given the strong reaction of Democrats, if the case in question will be taken as a stepping stone toward enforcement of the 2nd Amendment.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott participated in a statewide town hall meeting hosted by Nexstar Media Group Thursday night. The event was broadcast live from the University of Texas at Tyler. The discussion covered many topics impacting the state, but in wake of the El Paso shooting, gun violence was at the forefront. Abbott said the El Paso shooter had no red flags that would have prevented him from getting a gun. With that in mind, he said it's important state lawmakers take their time creating any new laws in order to ensure they will pass, and more importantly, they will work.

Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs), commonly referred to as "red flag laws," have been at the forefront of the gun control debate. The idea is simple: if a person is deemed mentally unstable, and a risk to themselves or others, he or she can be stripped of their firearms. Typically, family members, doctors and law enforcement have the power to petition a judge to deem the gun owner mentally unfit to own a firearm, at least for the time being. Some states, like Florida, have already implemented these laws. While they sound great on paper, they have a number of practicality issues. The biggest one is the lack of due process.
