A judge on Thursday promised a quick ruling on whether people with permits to carry firearms can bring their guns into the Minnesota State Fair, which opens in one week.

The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus asked Judge Laura Nelson to issue a temporary injunction prohibiting the fair and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office from enforcing the fair’s ban on bringing dangerous weapons onto the fairgrounds. Nelson said at the end of a hearing that she would rule as soon as possible, but definitely before the fair begins next Thursday.

How many times have you anxiously awaited your traffic light to turn red? Likely zero.

Holosun’s HE407K has turned green, or rather its reticle has, setting a new standard for self-defensive pistol optics. This wavelength change supplements the 6 MOA reticle standard in the 407 series. Why does a color matter? Isn’t it just preference?

According to Holosun, “A green reticle appears brighter to the human eye than standard red at the same intensity.” Combined with a larger reticle and greater ability to be seen in daytime light conditions makes this new offering appealing for everyday carry.

On Thursday, a federal judge upheld a Maryland law requiring anyone seeking to obtain a handgun to first acquire a Handgun Qualification License. This process requires Marylanders to do far more than pass a background check: before exercising their Constitutional right to self-defense, applicants must first pay potentially hundreds of dollars in fees, overcome all sorts of red tape, attend mandatory training, all while waiting up to 30 days. This is on top of another seven-business-day waiting period and background check when acquiring a handgun, and the NICS check that must be completed when the firearm is transferred.

A judge heard arguments Thursday on whether a new Missouri gun law — defended by state leaders and under fire from the federal government — was constitutional.

The Second Amendment Preservation Act, passed by the state legislature in May and signed into law by Gov. Mike Parson, seeks to nullify certain federal gun laws and penalize state and local police for enforcing those laws. The City of St. Louis and St. Louis County have sued the state over the act, which is set to take effect Aug. 28.

On Wednesday, the United States Department of Justice said Missouri's House Bill 85, or the Second Amendment Preservation Act, is unconstitutional.

This spring, the Missouri Senate passed the bill, which says the federal government should not interfere in state gun laws.

This includes tracking laws, certain prohibitions on the possession, ownership, use, or transfer of a specific type of firearm, and confiscation orders as provided in the act.

The DOJ says the bill endangers public safety.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that 12 of 53 federally deputized officers in Missouri have pulled out of joint task forces because of the law.

Taliban Confiscating Guns And Biden Want To Confiscate Yours

Reports from Afghanistan have revealed the Taliban has been confiscating privately-held firearms on the grounds people don’t need them for safety, which sounds frighteningly similar to arguments Joe Biden has made in support of a ban on semi-auto rifles and 9mm pistols, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms observed.

“One of the first things Joe Biden did after taking office was push his gun-ban agenda,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “One of the first things the Taliban did after taking Kabul was go door-to-door, seizing firearms. Biden says banning so-called ‘assault weapons’ and 9mm pistols will make the country safer. The Taliban is telling people they don’t need guns because they are safe.”

As we’ve previously reported, the Biden Department of Justice is threatening to upend the U.S. firearm industry and how Americans exercise their Second Amendment rights.

On May 21, ATF published a new proposed rule in the Federal Register entitled Definition of “Frame or Receiver” and Identification of Firearms.

In part, the Justice Department is seeking to destroy law-abiding Americans’ ability to make their own firearms for personal use by restricting access to popular items hobbyists and gun rights enthusiasts use to exercise this right. Americans’ have enjoyed the right to make firearms for personal use since before the Revolution.

The Governor's Ham Breakfast was held Thursday at the Missouri State Fair. The breakfast is a chance for politicians to come and rub elbows with agricultural leaders and fairgoers. While this is the 68th year for the event for one U.S. Senate candidate it was his first visit.

Mark McCloskey announced he was running for the U. S. Senate last May.

McCloskey and his wife Patricia came into the national spotlight for pointing guns at social justice demonstrators in 2020. Earlier this month, Missouri Governor Mike Parson pardoned McCloskey and his wife Patricia for charges from that incident.

Shocking Numbers Show Urgent Task For Second Amendment Supporters

Former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell’s revelation that 1.3 million conservatives are not registered to vote in California should shock and dismay Second Amendment supporters – for a moment. After that, we need to start getting to work on registering voters.

Put it this way: All the efforts of anti-Second Amendment extremists would have been for naught if 20,000 more Second Amendment supporters had been registered to vote in each of Georgia, Wisconsin, and Arizona and if another 120,000 had been registered in Pennsylvania. So, voter registration is perhaps one of the most urgent tasks that Second Amendment supporters have over the next three years.

Jim Jordan Launches Probe Into Biden Admin Plan To 'Circumvent' Constitution and 'Spy on American Citizens'

“Now it appears that the Biden Administration wants to expand its collaboration with Big Tech to, in the words of DHS Assistant Secretary John Cohen, ‘dramatically expand [the] focus’ of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis to monitor social media and other communications platforms.”

Jordan noted the issue is important because the Biden administration has often redefined extremism within America.

“[T]he Department has a history of targeting Americans for holding ‘suspicious views,’ such as being pro-Second Amendment, favoring lower levels of immigration, or opposing the use of force by police,” he said.

A Missouri law prohibiting state and local police from enforcing certain federal gun laws has already undermined drug and weapons investigations, the U.S. Department of Justice argued in documents filed Wednesday in Cole County Circuit Court.

As part of an ongoing lawsuit set for a hearing Thursday afternoon, the Justice Department is asking Cole County Judge Daniel Green to block the “Second Amendment Preservation Act,” a law approved by the state legislature in May and signed by Gov. Mike Parson.

Among its provisions, the law says law enforcement agencies will face $50,000 fines if they “infringe” on Missourians’ Second Amendment rights.

By a 27-20 party line vote, the North Carolina Senate passed a bill (HB 398) Wednesday that would repeal the state’s pistol purchase permit requirement.

The measure had passed the House in May after a heated debate, as Policy Watch previously reported. Gov. Cooper is likely to veto the bill, as he did with another measure that would have allowed people with concealed carry permits to bring guns onto church grounds that also serve as school properties.

TX: How Texas Gun Law May Impact Road Rage & Personal Injury

In June, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a permitless carry law allowing Texans to carry handguns without being trained or licensed. House Bill 1927 has been lauded by state Republicans, but gun safety advocates worry that the policy change will increase deadly shootings. One area of particular concern is road rage gun deaths. This year is the deadliest on record for road rage shootings. Experts estimate 500 people nationwide will be injured or killed by the end of 2021. Road rage crimes are often driven by reckless impulsiveness, and putting guns in the hands of drivers who aren’t trained to handle them may be a recipe for disaster.

You’re having a great time on the range, feeling confident in your technique and hitting targets like Annie Oakley. All of a sudden you pull the trigger, hear a click, but have no bang. What do you do?

Dealing with misfires and misfeeds is a common part of shooting and something all shooters need to be proficient in. In the above situation, you’ve just experienced a hang fire, meaning the round did not fire when the hammer of the gun hit the primer of the round. These are often blamed on sloppy reloading habits but can also occur with factory ammunition.
