I'm an American living in Australia, and this is REALLY happening here. You probably aren't getting much of it on your own news in the states. (Free press?)
Directly from one of our main broadcasting conglomerates:
"Students are calling on the Labor Party to reject a bill giving the Army the power to shoot citizens during times of civil unrest. The Government wants the bill enacted in time for two big events next month: the Sydney Olympics and the World Economic Forum in Melbourne." |

"Coloradans who signed the petition circulated by the anti-gun lobby group Sane Alternatives to the Firearms Epidemic, the name of which likens gun ownership to a disease, thereby released their names and addresses to the public record. Because signers are less likely to be armed than the general population, their households would be favored targets of any burglar or robber who obtained this publicly available information."

"About nine out of 10 high school students support gun-control measures such as criminal background checks and mandatory trigger locks, according to a survey released Monday."
Isn't it great that polls and surveys are only used when they are in favor of gun control and when they go against gun control the poll is classified as "for entertainment purposes only".....this is getting dumber by the minute |

You can feel that this woman's heart is in the right place.
I wrote her a nice letter. Maybe you could too. Just a quickie with a fact or two, like: .004% of all gun crimes are caused by 100% of the criminals. The rest of us are good people who don't want to be victimized. |

"Ulster Freedom Fighters shot at civilians in a Belfast bar and burnt the homes of other Protestants after clashing with the rival Ulster Volunteer Force. Mr Mandelson admitted in a statement yesterday that the events of the weekend, when seven people were wounded, had the potential to get out of control." -------
So that wasn't "out of control"? Huh? |

Dalls Morning News:
"Earlier this week, late at night, a DPS surveillance team hauled a horse trailer into a cow pasture across from the Grays' property. Inside was a remote-controlled camera hooked up via a microwave transmitter to a television monitor at a distant command post."
"At about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, law officers said, three armed men emerged from the Gray property, crossed the road and entered the trailer. They smashed the surveillance equipment..."

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
