"Get ahold of gun shops and ranges in your area. To find them all, go to YellowPages.com or a similar online resource." ...

"If you have time, search for them online and see if they have a website with an email address or contact form. If they do, send them the following message (feel free to modify):"

"On August 28, the Brady Campaign is teaming up with Jesse Jackson for a nationwide protest against what they call 'illegal guns,' meaning guns they've succeeded in banning or are working on banning. We're forming a counter-protest by encouraging gun owners across America to buy a box of ammo, or components, targets, etc., on that day. We're asking gun stores and ranges across the country to participate ..."

"For months you have read stories about the Parker case, in which several residents of Washington D.C. were suing the city over the thirty year ban on the ownership of handguns. I wanted to update you as to what is going on at the moment."

"In March the city lost their case to preserve their ban, and a later appeal for an en banc hearing was refused. ..." ...

"The case name has now changed. As pleadings for certiorari move forward, the case will now be known as District of Columbia vs. Heller. The reason for this change is that it was decided that Dick Heller was the only plaintiff who still had legal standing. ..." ...

"Jodie Foster, winner of two Academy Awards and one of the most respected actresses in the world, says in the September issue of More magazine that she believes it makes common sense to place reasonable restrictions on access to firearms."

"She told More Contributor Margy Rochlin 'Isn't it possible that we all have that bit of insanity in us? That's why I'm for gun control. Absolutely. Hunting, I get that – let's protect hunting. But I don't believe that people should have access to life-or-death situations at any emotional time in their life. I don't really believe that a human being who feels [things] should have the option at their fingertips.'" ...

"Is there anything comparable to the numbing obstinacy, the utter blindness to reality, that politicians display toward the consequences of untrammeled gun ownership in this country?"

"Here are some facts. The number of those shot dead by a mentally unbalanced student in 'the massacre' that April morning was 32. The figure was thought large enough, even in this country, that The Washington Post prepared a profile of each person killed and serialized the sketches. But anyone willing to pause and check would have found a startling fact: That number is close to the daily average for killings by firearms in the United States." ...

"As students resume classes at Virginia Tech and other schools across the country, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence today launched a website called Vidivoice, which offers individuals the opportunity to post brief videos made from cell phones or camcorders in which they can express their thoughts about gun violence, offer solutions that would make communities safer, and ask the general public, friends, elected officials and those running for higher office, 'What are you going to do?' to make the country safer from gun violence." ...

"Federal Judge Jack Weinstein has shot down the last feeble attempt to derail a city lawsuit against out-of-state gun dealers who funnel their instruments of death onto New York's streets."

"In a decision last week, Weinstein cut the legs out from under six of the most unscrupulous, ruling that Mayor Bloomberg had every right to send in undercover probers and to sue the dealers as public nuisances and to force them to answer for their crimes where the consequences are writ large - in Brooklyn."

"The original May 2006 suit named 15 dealers who broke federal law by knowingly selling firearms to people who did not live in the state where they were doing business. But the feds refused to enforce their own statute ..." ...

"Many will argue that this country needs some fresh faces in the political arena. But is a rock guitarist with polarizing views what people have in mind? For years, musician and second-amendment fan Ted Nugent has hinted at making a run for political office in Michigan or Illinois. The 58-year-old rock icon responsible for 'Cat Scratch Fever' is still keeping this goal in mind. Before a recent concert, he told reports that 'I have threatened [to run for governor of Michigan in 2010] and I was sincere ... Michigan was once a great state ... now the pimps and the whores and the welfare brats are basically the state's babies.'"

"Good to see he's toning down his rhetoric in preparation for a move into politics." ...

"'We're going to repeal it,' Glenn Jones, council president, said last night."

"'We can't ban guns as I understand it,' noted vice president Tony Court last night. 'It's unconstitutional. We thought we could do it because they’re banned in the courthouse. I guess we may have overstepped our bounds; our stance is to back off a bit.'"

Submitter's comment
Filner:
-- Voted NO on prohibiting product misuse lawsuits on gun manufacturers. (Oct 2005)
-- Voted NO on prohibiting suing gunmakers & sellers for gun misuse. (Apr 2003)
-- Voted NO on decreasing gun waiting period from 3 days to 1. (Jun 1999)
-- Rated F by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. (Dec 2003)
It's easy to see why he's so anti-gun. He thinks we all have as little self-control as he does.

"But Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Director Michael J. Sullivan said he's worried that fewer police departments will request assistance because of new legislation barring public release of so-called gun trace data, which tracks gun sales in specific cases."

"'My biggest concern is we have law enforcement departments out there that believe that they can't get access to trace information, so they're not even asking for it,' Sullivan told reporters at ATF headquarters. 'And it's undermining their ability to advance their investigations.'" ...

In their testimony, they stated that Teel was a ringleader in an organized conspiracy the aim of which was to physically abuse the inmates in their care. The testimony showed that Teel created an atmosphere of violence at the jail. The place where it was most prevalent was the booking area, which is the first place an inmate comes to ..." ...

"Police are looking for the killers of a police officer, and there are rewards in the tens of thousands. Where would these killers go?"

"In a few weeks, the gun show at the South Florida Fairgrounds will be an ideal event for all violent criminals to attend. At these shows, there is a gun show loophole in the law that allows them to buy guns from other private individuals without any documentation or paperwork. Even a person like Osama bin Laden would have no problem purchasing automatic and semi-automatic weapons."

"Thursday's letter, 'Gun show loophole can put guns in criminals' hands,' is yet another example of the ignorance of the gun grabbers."

"There is no such thing as a gun show loophole. Every dealer at a gun show must have a federal license to sell guns, and any violation of it represents a felony."

"An occasional sale of one or two personally owned guns by an individual to another private individual does not make that person a dealer. It has been illegal for many years in the United States for any person to buy or possess an automatic firearm without a special federally issued Class III license." ...

"The words violations and trace request are becoming the new scare words in the firearms industry...why because the ATF and others groups who have an anti-gun agenda are using them to vilify dealers, firearms and the industry in general. The public is for the most part unaware and jumps to conclusions. So lets take a look at these word a bit more closely."

"Violations: As I have said in the past when I would hear that a dealer was shut down for 'violations', I would assume the absolute worst. So in my mind and others, this dealer had willfully (intentionally) committed violations, well for me that was pretty cut and dry ..." ...
