For America’s gun owners, including the 22.3 million new first-time gun owners since 2020, the latest shocking news about former U.S. Rep. and former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) being placed on the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) Quiet Skies “list” should be gravely concerning.

Prosecutors in the Alec Baldwin trial intend to argue that the actor displayed a pattern of recklessness with firearms on the set of "Rust" before the fatal shooting of the film's cinematographer. In a filing on Monday, prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Erlinda Johnson alleged that Baldwin fired a blank round at a crew member while using the crew member to establish a line of sight. The prosecutors also accuse Baldwin of engaging in "horseplay" with a revolver during training, and allege that he was "erratic and aggressive" during filming, which raised safety concerns.

Back in late April, the U.S. Supreme Court granted certiorari to a case challenging whether the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) had violated the Administrative Procedures Act by unilaterally — and arbitrarily — reversing more than 50 years of tradition by declaring unfinished receivers, frames and parts kits would henceforth be regulated like functioning firearms.

If there were ever two handgun cartridges that could be classified as ubiquitously American, then it would be the 45 Long Colt and the 45 Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP). With a combined service life of over two centuries, both have served as the sidearm cartridge for the U.S. Army and are still used in various applications today in civilian circles.

During the Great Ammo Shortages of 2020 and 2021, dedicated shooters still needed to scratch the ever-present trigger finger itch, and many discovered Igman Ammunition. If you’re a fellow 2A-enthuasist like myself, then you probably have a couple of pet brands that you usually stick with for your plinking and target ammo, like Hornady, Federal, PMC, or Remington ammo. And it’s understandable that you’d be more than a little leery of putting imported ammo into your prized firearms.

This week, a national reporter contacted me to set up an interview for a story on pistol magazine disconnects and safeties, which NBC News will publish. We had our interview, and this friendly reporter was very thorough and asked some controversial questions for the story. I was glad to help her and share my opinions about this interesting subject since she was ambiguous about some ideas and had incomplete information.

Amid his lengthy and frequently emotional “farewell speech” to the Democratic National Convention, President Joe Biden still had some remarks reaffirming his commitment to gun control.

Near the end of his speech, which saw him fumble a few words here and there, Biden—who immediately left Chicago and traveled to California for vacation—declared the murder rate is falling “faster than any time in history.”

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
I have not one doubt, even if I am in agreement with the National Rifle Association, that that kind of record keeping procedure [gun registration] is the first step to eventual confiscation under one administration or another. —CHARLES MORGAN, DIRECTOR, WASHINGTON DC ACLU
