"It came to me the other day, while reading about how our government leaders don't want to let the pilots on our commercial aircraft carry firearms, to consider how many police officers would show up for work if they were told they could no longer bring any firearm for protection of themselves and others? I bet you wouldn't get very many to show up for duty."

" 'Ruby Ridge' used to refer to a geographical location in the state of Idaho, but after an incident that took place there ten years ago today, the phrase has come to refer to a scandalous series of events that opened the eyes of many people to the inner workings of the federal government, including the vaunted Federal Bureau of Investigation. Now that ten years have passed, the feds will accelerate their ongoing effort to 'move forward' and have the scandal declared 'ancient history.' "

"Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore is considering whether to allow Virginians who are lawfully entitled to carry concealed weapons — and who, in order to get their permits, have already undergone both extensive background checks as well as gun-safety courses — to do so in state parks. Currently, it is unlawful even for those who are entitled to carry concealed weapons to carry them into state parks."

"It just isn't America without at least one of the Clinton parasites sucking the nation's blood and tearing at the sinews of America's enterprise. Once again, it's Hillary's turn to sink her fangs into America's carotid artery to the tune of approximately $40,000 in tainted scrip from ImClome."

"A former Minneapolis police officer who admitted having sex with a 13-year-old can't be charged with soliciting because the girl's words and conduct led to the sexual activity, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday."

"Koenig, who was fired by the Minneapolis Police Department in December, has said he didn't know the girls were juveniles." [A very 'mature' 13 year old, right?]

In Minneapolis only an officer can carry a firearm. Talk about double standards!

"Minneapolis police officer Robert Dehn had a rude surprise when he walked out of his Blaine home early Tuesday to drive to work in his unmarked squad car."

"It was gone."

"Worse, his .357-caliber Magnum revolver had been stowed inside."

"Robert Dehn, 56, an officer for 27 years, said he tucked it under the driver's seat Monday afternoon when he stopped to shop on the way home from his school-liaison job."

NYPD says more than half of their 24,000 Glocks "are subject to jam without warning"

"More than half of the Police Department's handguns are subject to jam without warning, a potentially dangerous flaw that can leave the weapons as 'useless as paperweights,' police sources said."

"Although the jamming is rare, the NYPD has been concerned enough to order a recall of 24,000 semiautomatic Glock handguns so they can be refitted."

"This problem affects the Glock Model 19S - the gun carried by about 60% of the department's 39,000 officers. The flaw, in which the shell casing fails to eject, has only arisen during practice and tests at the NYPD firing range, police officials say." [They worked fine against Amadou Diallo.]

"Our studies have shown this to be a rare occurrence," said police spokesman Chief Michael Collins. "In the worst-case scenario...we estimated that this has happened only once in 450,000 times when fired."

Glock sent people to New York to address the issue. See report for details.

"No one has a moral, civil or legal right to violate your person or property. Let them know you're not someone to be taken advantage of. Try to let the attacker know he's picked the wrong person to mess with," [Maj. Ed] Welch said.

"While passive resistance may sometimes be the best defense...many alternatives exist..."

"The goal is to hurt him enough to give yourself a chance to flee."

"Weapons were a brief topic...keys, pens, fingernail files, credit cards or small cans of mace..."

But, of course, not the most effective, most efficient, most affordable, most concealable and easiest to use self-defense device ever devised: the handgun.

Aurora, IL: A 17 year old man was shot. Police believe a gang member shot him in a case of mistaken identity.

Submitter's comment: Not shot by a family member. No gun lock would prevent this. The shooter committed a class 4 felony having an uncased/loaded firearm in IL. Police were not there to prevent this. 911 could never have responded fast enough. No new laws would stop this. Questionable if extra police would help. We need militia citizen involvement and RKBA!
