"... Target shooting and hunting teaches patience, disciple, self-esteem, ethics, and confidence in children, however a 2008 study shows a drop in the number of young people who participate in hunting. "... The Two Million Bullets campaign’s goal is to encourage not only two million people, but also all of us like-minded shooters and hunters, to donate just one dollar to help introduce and teach safety, the shooting sports, hunting, fishing, and archery to kids who would otherwise never know these much-loved outdoor activities. Donations help pay for hunting licenses, trips, fees, equipment, clothing, and food." ... |

"Fast and Furious. Conceal and carry. The Dark Knight theater shootings. In America these days, it seems like everyone is packing heat. In fact, we're the most heavily armed populace on the planet. So where do most of us go when we need a shiny new Glock or a convenient AK-47? Increasingly to mega-shops like Sprague's Sports in Yuma, Arizona. That's where Jeanne Marie Laskas ventured recently, spending a few shifts behind the counter and seeing for herself how we shop, sell, justify, and even come to love the deadliest things among us" ... |

"A streak of recent gun violence, including a shooting rampage in Seattle that left six people dead, has reignited the debate over gun control in Washington. Does an armed citizenry make us more or less safe? C.R. Douglas explores the balance between public safety and constitutional rights." ... |

"Loads of armed Americans load-up their home defense shotgun with less-lethal buckshot. More than a few owners of the shotshell firing Taurus Judge and Smith & Wesson Governor revolvers do likewise—at least for the first chamber or two. Wrong answer. There’s only one reason to shoot someone: if they pose a credible, imminent threat of death or grievous bodily harm to you or another innocent life. If it’s do or die, you want to stop a threat as quickly, efficiently and completely as possible. Shooting a bad guy with less lethal rounds (or aiming lethal rounds at extremities) to 'just wound' an attacker is a dangerously naive plan. Actually, it’s so stupid it’s not really a plan at all . . ." ... |

"I've tried to be dedicated to getting in some dry fire practice on the days I don't hit the range. It took me a long time to 1) understand that this is a valuable training tool and 2) get committed to making it a routine. Dry fire practice involves going through the various actions involved in accurately firing a pistol, without actually firing a pistol. It helps to build muscle memory, so that when you actually shoot, your body instinctively knows what to do." ... |

"The vast majority of the states recognize that just because something looks scary doesn’t actually mean that it is more dangerous. Unfortunately for those living in the state of California, as the state mantra goes 'appearance is everything.' Hence their assault weapons ban, which restricts ownership of scary looking guns. Until now, the only way around this was an individual, non-transferable 'permit' that would enable you as an individual to buy, own and sell these guns — a business could not apply for one to cover all their staff. Meaning thousands upon thousands of dollars in fees and paperwork to get the employees of a gun shop 'on the level' with CA’s laws if they wanted to sell the most popular rifles in the United States.
