April, 1929. The Chowgarh tigers — by their sign an old tigress with a grown cub — had killed at least four dozen people. Ranging over 1,500 square miles of mountainous forest in northern India, they had tested the skills and resolve of hunter Jim Corbett. Then, unexpectedly near a remote village, he got his chance. Directed by reports from a local herdsman, he eased into thick cover. Suddenly a bovine leg was thrust up from the bush. Growls followed. |

Introduced in the mid-1980s, the innovative polymer-frame Glock G17 semi-automatic pistol was a ground-breaking engineering feat that launched Glock as a firearms maker. But Glock didn’t stop there. Over lunch in Smyrna, Ga., many years back, when Glock was introducing the new G26, G27, G28 and G29 pistols, I asked Gaston Glock why he was introducing new models. He shrugged his shoulders and said, “My people keep telling me to make more models. Smaller, and bigger, and different calibers. It’s keeping me busy.”

The St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that 16 Republican state attorneys general and gun rights organizations had not established they would be irreparably harmed if the rule remained in effect. |

Untraceable “ghost guns” are illegal again, for now. The U.S. Supreme Court granted a stay Aug. 8 of a district court judgment that had invalidated the Biden Administration’s ban on untraceable firearms. The stay has temporarily revived the rule, but the legal challenge is ongoing. |

All compact pistols are not created equal. The Steyr C9-A1 has combined traditional design elements, new ideas, and Austrian high quality for one fantastic compact carry pistol. Sometimes ideas from faraway places cause me to say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” This pistol combines the best of Glock with that of CZ. What do you get when you combine ideas from these two pistol icons and throw in something new? Follow me in my review of the Steyr today to find out.

California and Illinois laws that have banned advertising lawmakers in those two states consider to be targeted at minors doesn’t have anything to do with increasing public safety. It doesn’t have anything to do with fighting the criminal misuse of firearms. The laws are intended to do one thing – convince the next generation of Americans that the Second Amendment doesn’t exist. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. — Justice William O. Douglas, US Supreme Court (1939-75) |
