"More than 100 young women who expressed interest in joining the military in the past year were preyed upon sexually by their recruiters. Women were raped on recruiting office couches, assaulted in government cars and groped en route to entrance exams, a six-month investigation by the Associated Press found. The investigation found that more than 80 military recruiters were disciplined last year for sexual misconduct with potential enlistees. The cases occurred across all branches of the military and in all regions of the country."

Israeli police tailing a suspected senior underworld figure accidentally crashed into his vehicle, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported Wednesday.

Police put the suspected criminal under 24-hour surveillance a month ago and the man knew he was being followed, it said.

But Tuesday, a police officer fell asleep at the wheel of his car and crashed into the man's vehicle in the southern city of Ashkelon, slightly injuring him, Yedioth reported.

Ashkelon police could not be reached by Reuters but told the newspaper an accident involving a police car and a jeep occurred in the city Tuesday. They gave no further details.
