In his Pulitzer Prize–winning book, Guns, Germs, and Steel, geographer Jared Diamond attempts to explain why Eurasian civilizations have survived and triumphed over those lost to history. I wonder whether a future sociologist might one day sum up Western civilization's demise as the natural consequence of Guns, Germs, and Feelz, or rather, how hysterical fear-mongering over self-defense and microorganisms and a new world order based on feelings ended up dooming the West. |

The president of a Florida-based gun company released a recorded statement Friday saying his company will not be complying with a cease-and-desist order issued by the ATF in late July. According to the cease-and-desist letter issued on July 26, the ATF alleged that Rare Breed Triggers’s FRT-15 trigger was actually a machine gun, and the agency ordered Rare Breed Triggers to halt production and sales, and create a plan to address the triggers that had already been sold and distributed.

Friends,
We live in unprecedented times. The Biden-Harris administration – the most anti-gun administration in history – has just armed the world’s largest terrorist group with state-of-the-art weapon systems, including fighter aircraft, artillery, tanks, sophisticated drones and more than 600,000 real assault weapons. Meanwhile, they still want to ban our pistol braces and semi-auto ARs, which would turn millions of lawful gun owners into felons, overnight. |

President Biden and his Attorney General, Merrick Garland, have championed “red flag” laws that authorize courts to temporarily prohibit individuals from possessing or accessing guns based on unproven and uncorroborated allegations by family members, coworkers, law enforcement officers or others. A key feature of these laws is an initial order that is imposed “ex parte” – without notice to the affected person, where he or she has no opportunity to attend or contest the allegations.

When he made the point, my buddy was speaking from a position of strength. Chuck Karwan—West Point graduate, champion heavyweight wrestler, combat platoon leader, Green Beret, outdoorsman, gunwriter—was a bear of a guy. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of firearms of all sorts. Karwan was particularly fond of digging into the development of handguns; sights, systems, breeching, etc.; from Paterson to present. He knew more about guns than anybody I knew, and working with him on several magazines was a pleasure. Karwan is gone now, but let’s look at one of his comments from years past that is still worthwhile. |

Let’s be honest, when many think of a handgun for concealed carry, they probably start looking at Glocks and adjust their selection from there. They may opt for a Glock-like polymer pistol, or very possibly go the more traditional route of the 1911. But, Glocks and 1911s are not the only concealed carry guns out there, and in fact may not be the best options for everyone. Here’s a look at five commonly overlooked concealed carry gun options that you may or may not have heard of. |

While Illinois State Police say they’re on top of a breach involving the information of gun owners around the state, some at the statehouse say it’s time to end the Firearm Owner’s Identification card program. Adding to the problems of application backlogs over the past two years, it was revealed earlier this month the state’s FOID database for people to enter information to comply with the law was hacked. |
