"The lamestream media told you:"
"Democratic presidential contenders participated in a candidate's forum for the gay community, with musician Melissa Etheridge showing superb skills as an interviewer, asking tough questions and making candidates squirm."
"The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:"
"If a tiny, marginal, but loud 'community' like gay people can force a presidential debate for their concerns, it is clearly time for the gun-owning community to demand a candidate debate for the 95 million Americans who own guns and are concerned about mounting challenges to their rights under the Bill of Rights." ... |

"A piece of wood — the English longbow — was the terror weapon of its day. With it the Welsh resisted invaders. It was capable of penetrating most armor, and thus was dangerous to the ruling classes." ...
"Because of the ubiquity of the longbow, the English nobles had to be more considerate of their subjects. As Hemingway* said, 'An armed society is a polite society.' Our Founders recognized this fact, and included the Second Amendment. Like the kings outlawing armor-piercing points, some seek to subvert the purpose of that provision. They hold that it's government's role to control weapons. ..." ... -------

"Two years ago, Dan Rather made many stiff British upper lips quiver by reporting that England had a crime problem and that, apart from murder, 'theirs is worse than ours.' The response was swift and sharp. 'Have a Nice Daydream,' The Mirror, shot back, reporting: 'Britain reacted with fury and disbelief last night to claims by American newsmen that crime and violence are worse here than in the US.' But sandwiched between the article's battery of official denials and a compilation of lurid crimes from 'the wild west culture on the other side of the Atlantic where every other car is carrying a gun,' The Mirror conceded that the anchorman was correct. Except for murder and rape, 'Britain has overtaken the US for all major crimes.'" ... |

"Paul is all gushy about installing a de-facto gun registry under the guise of 'microstamping'. He, of course, heads off any debate by declaring"
"Gun lobby criticisms of microstamping sound quite familiar. About this advancement in forensic science they say that 'it costs too much,' or 'criminals will get around it,' or 'only honest gun owners will be penalized,' or – you guessed it – 'it’s a ban on guns.' We’ve heard it all before, and like before, it’s all nonsense." "Actually, Paul, the nonsense is part and parcel of your gig, not ours."
"Let's take these one at a time shall we? And if any of you hyper-intelligent college credentialed people out there wish to show me where I'm wrong, please do. ..." ... -------

"Most people assume that if you are a leftist, or a progressive, or just a plain old liberal you must be anti-gun. (Most people probably don't make this assumption about anarchists quite so quickly). Well, I'm not...anti-gun that is (Although for me personally the fact that I have a felony conviction on the old record makes the whole thing problematic). I'm not sure we need everyone armed with automatic weapons, but some guns, in my mind, are not a bad idea. I used to say 'When guns are outlawed, only cops will have guns.' The truth is cops and criminals and right wing nuts will have guns, the rest of America will be sitting behind locked doors hoping no knocks come in the night." ... |

"Following the surprising release of Federal gun trace data by a Justice Department agency, in apparent violation of controversial Congressional restrictions on public disclosure of such data, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence today filed a Freedom of Information Act requesting additional information on crime guns."
"On Monday, August 20, the [ATF] released on its website a group of reports based on state-by-state crime gun trace data. Its acting director implied that law enforcement leaders and others were confused and misinformed about the intent of the so-called 'Tiahrt Amendment' restrictions on gun trace data disclosure that have been on the books since 2004 in annual bills funding ATF, now part of the Justice Department." ... |

"Many of us have heard that we are most likely to be confronted within twenty-one feet. My understanding that one of the reasons this saying started was due to the distances at which law enforcement encounters occur. Truth of the matter is that we are most likely to be attacked within ten feet. If I am attacked by someone who is twenty-one feet away, I believe that it is a good day for me!" ... |

"On August 28th, the Brady Campaign organizers are scheduling a national protest to 'focus attention on the scourge of illegal gun trafficking'. Fine. That is all good and well - I, personally, am against illegal gun trafficking as well, as I have always been against all forms of firearm-related crime. However, it is the Brady Campaign's avowed purpose to disarm all Americans, law-abiding or not, and this 'protest' is nothing more than attempt to further erode our Constitutionally-granted rights ..." ... -------

"Sacramento recently passed an ordinance requiring gun owners to report the loss or theft of their firearms within 48 hours of when the owner knew or 'should have known' the gun was missing."
"Gun control advocacy groups ... disingenuously claimed the proposed ordinance will prevent unlawful sales of firearms by 'straw purchasers' who buy a gun legally, intending to resell it illegally on the black market." ...
"Ironically, the ordinance cannot be used against the real bad guys. No law can compel lawbreakers to report themselves. So a straw purchaser who legally buys a gun cannot be compelled to report that he resold it illegally. And since it wasn't actually lost or stolen, he hasn't violated the ordinance." ... |

FULL TEXT BELOW:
The Police Department has fired a veteran counterterrorism detective who failed a drug test, finding that his claim that his wife had served him marijuana-spiked meatballs was not credible, Paul J. Browne, a police spokesman, said yesterday. With the decision, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly rejected an earlier recommendation by an administrative judge that the detective, Anthony Chiofalo, be reinstated. Commissioner Kelly has the final say on firings. Detective Chiofalo, a 22-year veteran, was suspended without pay in 2005 after a random drug test found marijuana in his system. During an investigation, his wife said she had secretly substituted marijuana for oregano in her meatball recipe in the hope of forcing him to leave police work. |

"Some people in Champaign County are afraid their guns will be taken away. That's why pro-gun advocates are trying to get a resolution passed that would promise the 2nd amendment would be protected. People say they feel Chicago and Cook County is trying to run the rest of the state of Illinois. That's because Cook County put a gun ban into effect this past February on long guns, like rifles and shotguns. The ban says people can't even have the guns in their own home. Some people in Champaign County feel that's unconstitutional, and they went to the county board meeting Thursday night to speak up before the ban moves south." ... |
