Some time during the first two weeks of September, the Los Angeles City Council is scheduled to consider ordinances. (Meetings are usually held in City Hall at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.)
1st ordinance - would completely ban the sale of ammunition (file no. 99-1581).
2nd ordinance - would require a $15 fee, buyer's license, background check, and waiting period before ammunition could be purchased, raising the price on a $1 box of .22 ammunition to $16 (file no. 94-0514). |

(from web page): 1934 Group's avowed purpose is to do what most other organizations are unwilling to: Help manufacturers, dealers & consumers of NFA items exclusively. Ultimately, we'd love to see the NFA '34 pulled down as the unconstitutional taxation sham it is. However, we'll do things one step at a time. Right now, we are trying to aid consumers and dealers in their relations with the BATF by using the courts to remove the illegal and commerce-hampering "CLEO" sign-off [...] |

Libertarian Party presidential candidate Harry Browne stressed his support for Second Amendment rights at a forum in Arkansas, where he appeared with the state's governor, the head of the NRA, and an incumbent Congressman before an audience of more than 1,000 people.
GREAT QUOTE: I say that the Second Amendment doesn't allow for exceptions -- or else it would have read that the right 'to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, unless Congress chooses otherwise.' And because there are no exceptions, I disagree with my fellow panelists who say the existing gun laws should be enforced. Those laws are unconstitutional [and] wrong -- because they put you at a disadvantage to armed criminals, to whom the laws are no inconvenience. ~~ Harry Browne, meetings with NRA's EVP, Wayne LaPierre and other panelists at a gun rights rally in Hot Springs, AR, 8/8/2000

Sentries? What planet is this lady from?
Brady noted that the next president will determine the future of the federal assault-weapons ban. The law is up for reauthorization in 2004. "A pro-gun president and Congress would allow the ban to end, paving the way for a new flood of assault weapons on American streets," stated Brady. "Even Californians, with their new assault-weapons ban, may find themselves posting sentries at their borders with Nevada and Arizona."

"They can masquerade it as waiting periods and background checks and registration, but the bottom line is they hate guns. They think the government knows what is best for people, and they want to create a situation that would have been odious to the Founding Fathers in that only the people that work for the government have the guns."
