"Last week former deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer urged Australian tourists to boycott the U.S. in the wake of the shooting murder of the Melbourne baseball star Chris Lane. Fischer and former Prime Minister John Howard led Australia's gun control reforms in the mid 90s." ...
"Mr. Fischer doesn't know a thing about our black thug culture brought on by 50 years of radical leftist policies. Progressives, not guns, have fueled the rise of soulless psychopaths like the Duncan, Oklahoma killers. A gun is an inanimate object with no mental capabilities. Guns haven't produced the badass, fatherless kids whose only role models seem to be highly paid misogynistic, hate-filled, racist rappers." ... |

"There is one other town between my home and Newtown. Through the years, I’ve spent a lot of time in the Newtown/Sandy Hook community, through friendships, work, shopping, dining, and socializing. I too, have personal connections to victims of the senseless tragedy that a madman committed that day. My prayers, condolences, and best wishes have been, and continue to be offered to those that are suffering from that unthinkable act of evil and violence."

"Many advise people involved in shootings to say nothing to the police. I’m not among them. I’ve seen too many cases where declining to speak is heard as 'I ain’t sayin’ nuttin' 'til my mouthpiece gets here,' and only the bad guy’s side of the story gets told or assumed. I do recommend that people caught up in these things tell the responding officers the nature of the attack on them which forced them to fire, and indicate that they’ll sign a complaint on the perpetrator. I also recommend pointing out evidence and witnesses, because both tend to disappear otherwise. From there on, I strongly suggest that they advise the police that they’ll fully cooperate after they’ve spoken with counsel." ... |

"Once again, I’m not 100 percent down with a First Person Defender entertrainment video. In the first scenario, Gunblast guy should have surrendered his money. In the second, Ol’ Twin Beard needed to inflict some serious hurt on his attacker. You know: speed, surprise and violence of action. Only there’s not a lot of surprise in a Simunition simulation and you can’t practice real violence without full protective gear. But it’s the first lesson that I’d like to highlight. There are times when compliance is your best option. Gun or no gun. Training or no training . . ." ... |

"Recent news of gun violence in America was achingly familiar. Australian baseball player Christopher Lane, out for a jog in an Oklahoma neighborhood, was fatally shot by three 'bored' teenagers who decided to kill someone for fun, police said."
"The tragedy quickly provoked familiar arguments." ... -------

... "The Second Amendment is in the news a great deal under the banner of 'gun control.' I'm not sure how I feel about a lot of the discussion, but I do have a couple of strong opinions on it. Number one is that clearly the Constitution guarantees the average American citizen to own guns, 'the right to bear arms.' I also have no doubt the government has the right to regulate that guarantee in many ways, 'the language 'a well-regulated Militia' allows that,' and let's face it, they regulate each and every other Amendment of the Constitution." ... |

... "While we thank you for preventing gun carriers from senselessly inflicting further emotional trauma on our town by closing your Newtown location early last Friday, August 9th, we ask you this question: what about tomorrow and the day after that? What do you say to your customers in Wyoming, Texas, and Florida; where guns have injured three innocent people at Starbucks in the past two years? We ask you to—once and for all—give Starbucks customers everywhere the same protection that you afforded Newtown last Friday. If you make the decision to ban guns, your company has the chance to honor the 26 innocent lives lost here in Newtown and the 32,000 Americans lost annually to gun violence ..." ... |

"'Another day, another guns-in-schools incident. Or so it seems.' And there you have it: the anti-gunner’s perspective on firearms. Facts don’t matter. It’s all about 'optics.' More specifically, personal perspective. How they feel about guns. In this case, the writer spreading the civilian disarmament love ... is no less than Jonathan Vankin, Brandeis grad, conspiracy theorist and comic book writer [above]. 'The deadly combination of firearms and educational institutions isn’t going away anytime soon and with the federal government paralyzed on gun control and states doing no better, one school district figures it’s better to turn itself into a miniature police state.' The sarcasm is dripping. But the irony is tripping . . ." ... |

"New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has spent tens of millions of his billions trying to get his gun bans instituted in the rest of America, even though these laws have never stopped criminals from getting guns. That’s why he has had to resort to policing tactics such as stop and frisk to get the firearms away from the bad guys. Unfortunately, his one area of success is no longer allowed, and he’s looking for someone to blame." ... |

"This crime spree should not be used to breathe new life into the idea of ... allowing people to use deadly force against perceived aggressors in what are presented as 'stand your ground' situations. One Iowa lawmaker has previously defended such laws and said 'stand your ground' laws are needed to protect people from 'frivolous prosecution' when they 'choose to defend themselves.'"

"Conservative pundit Mark Levin has written a book entitled The Liberty Amendments (which debuted at #1 on Amazon) which calls for a Constitutional convention to propose amendments that would rein in the power of the federal government. (Under Article V of the Constitution, 2/3 of the states could call such a convention. ... It would take 3/4 of the states to ratify any amendments ...)" ...
"But might such a convention unravel the Constitution? And the left has some tinkering with the Constitution that it wants to do. Many would love to do away with the Second Amendment. The feminists want to bring back the Equal Rights Amendment. And some would love to enshrine abortion and sexual orientation into the Bill of Rights." ... |

"I respectfully disagree with Shawn Vestal’s Aug. 17 column stating that universal background checks on all gun sales would be a good thing. Such laws would preclude giving a firearm to a relative such as a son, daughter or grandchild without the recipient going through a licensed dealer and background check for the recipient. This would be expensive, cumbersome and wouldn’t do a thing to protect the public from lunatics who want to do terrible things with guns." ... |

"Advocates for gun rights, strong border security, and a government whose only legitimate role is to 'secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity' have long been branded 'right-wing extremists' by those who insist on seeing their own views as more 'progressive.' "Working to quell a gun owner firestorm that started after Troy Industries announced it had retained the services of former Chicago Police Superintendant Jody Weis, a company spokesperson told Gun Rights Examiner today that a professional relationship will not go forward."
"... Raising particular outrage were allegations of Weis fleeing from instead of responding to a shooting." ...
"And that leads to yet one more unresolved personnel issue, as Troy is now dealing on its Facebook page with fallout from their association with another Ruby Ridge Hostage Rescue Team sniper, Dale Monroe, who carries some controversy of his own." |
