Is G2R R.I.P. ammo really all it’s cracked up to be?

If you haven’t seen it, there’s a new ammo that’s out called G2R Ammo. According to the YouTube promotional clip I watched, this round is hailed as “The last round you’ll ever need.” Yeah, I’m not so sure about that.

Besides throwing up a little in my mouth after watching the shooter on the video continue to ride the recoil by deliberately keeping the gun up after the shot goes off, this ammo does look rather devastating. But, as always, time will tell and, speaking of time tested rounds, I’m not really sure what separates this round’s performance from any other dozen examples of well known, high quality pistol ammo.

Just hours after a gunman shot and killed WDBJ-TV’s Allison Parker and Adam Ward just off camera during a live interview, Governor Terry McAuliffe admitted not knowing anything about how the gunman got his gun, yet the Governor stressed that more gun controls–specifically background checks–are needed.

Speaking on Fox News while a police chase of the gunman was underway, McAuliffe called for background check legislation.

As gun owners see all too often, a favored tactic of the gun control crowd is to provide “scientific evidence” that supports their political agenda to continually undermine the Second Amendment. Of course, such “evidence” is anything but scientific, amounting to nothing more than a clever manipulation of data to advance their cause.

This tactic is nothing new in the battle over our Second Amendment-protected rights. In fact, the NRA has been fighting against the use of junk science to promote gun control since the 1970s and 1980s, when this approach emerged on the national political scene to support various firearm restrictions, including many of the early proposed bans on handguns.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Letter to the Editor: Tax, License, Restrict Ammo!

This is not the first time gun control advocates have targeted ammunition. You may recall that New York’s post-Sandy Hook dead-of-night signed-into-law-as-an-emergency-measure SAFE Act contained a provision mandating ammunition licensing, shelved (but not eliminated) due to the fact that it would be insanely expensive, not to mention completely unworkable. Politicians in various gun control enclaves have also proposed adding tax to ammo. But Ted Schaefer’s letter to St. Louis Post Dispatch breaks new ground in ammo-flavored gun control fervor

All too often people take for granted basic freedoms until it is too late.

The right to hunt and fish in Texas is one of those rights that while it may seem to be irrevocable, is not truly guaranteed. This year you have the opportunity to change that.

Proposition 6, a state constitutional amendment to safeguard Texans’ Right to Hunt and Fish, will be on the November 2015 ballot and if passed, will guarantee protections for sportsmen and wildlife conservation for future generations.

Attorneys for four California gun dealers filed an opening brief on Monday that asks the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to strike down a law that, they argue, is unconstitutional and violates their First Amendment speech rights.

The appeal follows a federal District Court judge’s ruling in July that allowed the restriction to temporarily stand while the case progresses further.

In another indication of firearms ownership going mainstream, Forbes magazine recently covered the deal-finding app, GunDealio, and the company responsible – GUNTALK Media.

In the August 10 Forbes article “Guns, Ammo & Geo-Targeting: How A Father-Son Team Is Bringing Deals To Weapons Enthusiasts,” writer Karsten Strauss reviewed how GunDealio is helping tens of thousands of shooters find deals on guns, ammo, optics and more.

CA: Los Angeles Will be Sued to Invalidate Newly Passed Ordinance

After a two year delay, the Los Angeles City Council passed an ordinance banning the possession of magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds (so-called “large-capacity” magazines).

Unfortunately, Mayor Eric Garcetti signed this ill-conceived and troubling magazine ban into law on August 7, 2015.

Unlike the state’s magazine law, individuals in the City of Los Angeles currently in lawful possession of these magazines will not be protected by a “grandfather” clause.

It takes courage to speak your mind these days. The Internet mobs with their cyber-torches and virtual pitchforks are ever-present and always on the lookout for something to be outraged about. Careers are destroyed over differences of opinion, lives are ruined over casual conversations—or even worse, twisted accounts and distortions of actual speech. It seems less a new McCarthyism led by politicians in Washington, D.C., but something more akin to what Thomas Jefferson called the “reign of witches” during the political turmoil and rancor between the Federalists and Democrat-Republicans toward the end of the 18th century.

For more than two years, controversy has surrounded Arkansas Act 746, which some interpret as Constitutional carry and others disagree.

Since its enactment and up until this point there have been no convictions against those choosing to carry openly without a license, but that all changed Tuesday when a judge found a Bald Knob resident guilty of illegally carrying a weapon at a McDonald’s restaurant in May.

The debate over the Second Amendment has gone up in flames in Michigan.

The City Council of Warren, a suburb of Detroit, is debating an ordinance that would ban the assembly, storage and use of –flamethrowers?

Yep, flamethrowers.

Resident Chris Byars figured people had seen flamethrowers in movies and video games, and maybe they’d want one of their own. So he designed a commercially available flamethrower for public purchase, and raised nearly four times his goal on a crowdfunding site.

Some U.S. lawmakers are concerned that people receiving Social Security benefits that are managed by caretakers might lose their Second Amendment rights.

At a Aug. 13 town hall in New Plymouth, U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, said he is spearheading a coalition of 25 senators and submitting a letter to the Social Security Administration to put a stop to a plan he said infringes on the right to bear arms. The plan calls for adopting gun control regulations similar to that of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Those regulations prohibit veterans who are mentally unable to handle their own finances from owning, carrying or using a gun.

The video showing the deaths of Alison Parker and her videographer, Adam Ward, is horrific. Parker and Ward of WDBJ7–a local CBS station–were in Moneta, Virginia around 6:45am this morning when suspect Vester Lee Flanagan, a reportedly “disgruntled” ex-employee, opened fire. As Cortney reported earlier this morning, Parker was interviewing local Chamber Commerce official Vicki Gardner, who was hit in the back. She’s currently in surgery.

The landmark lawsuit against the United States State Department filed by gun rights advocate Cody Wilson and the creator of the 3D printed Liberator pistol continues to gain steam, even after a recent setback. Earlier this month, District Judge Robert Pitman denied Cody Wilson’s preliminary injunction against the State Department’s order that he stop disseminating the Liberator’s files online, stating that any potential violations of his Constitutional rights did not outweigh the public interest. However, yesterday Wilson took to Twitter and announced that he successfully filed his appeal to that decision and the case was on its way to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

If you watch any local TV in Oregon, you have no doubt been hammered with Bloomberg purchased ads promoting the Prozanski/Hoyle gun owner registration law.

The ad features a former Portland Police Chief (and Bloomberg shill) spewing lies before a background of soft-focus child actors playing in a park.

Since the chief sponsors of the bill (Prozanski and Hoyle) are shameless liars, why shouldn’t the ad be a collection of lies?

The Force Science Institute recently conducted a major study on the performance of human memory under stress.

They took 64 Canadian police officers and split them into pairs, with one officer being designated as “active” participants responding to a scenario, and the other being assigned the role of an “observational” watcher. The active officer was to work through the scenario, while the observer was to passively watch the situation.

The scenario was carefully engineered to induce high levels of stress, getting as close as possible to the levels of stress an officer might encounter in a real-life situation.

Insanity. With the highest level of gun ownership in the developed world, the U.S. also suffers the greatest gun violence—by far. Americans are 20 times more likely to be killed by a gun than the citizens in all other developed nations. We recognize the names and stories of the most violent and senseless incidents—Columbine, Sandy Hook, Aurora, Virginia Tech, Binghamton, Killeen, Tucson, Charleston, and now Lafayette; however, these media sideshows represent only a small percentage of the mind-boggling totals. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were a total of 33,636 firearms deaths and 84,258 firearm injuries in 2013, the last year for which complete statistics are available.

Two new reports have come out in recent days showing just how violent the United States has truly become. The first study, which comes from The University of Alabama, shows that the United States has had at least 90 mass shootings over the last fifty years where four or more people were murdered. This doesn’t include robberies or hostage situations either – this only counts gunmen who go on shooting sprees. These 90 mass shootings make up an astounding one-third of all mass shootings that took place across the planet during that 50-year span.

A man who fatally shot another man in Wichita last month will not face charges.

Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett said Tuesday the shooter acted in self-defense when he fired at 42-year-old Billy Massey Jr. in July. Massey was later found lying in a driveway suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Bennett says Massey went to the home to retrieve property belonging to a woman and threatened the woman’s ex-boyfriend with a gun.

I am committed to the individual right to keep and bear arms by every American who has not forfeited that right by criminal conviction or other action. The right own, carry and keep a gun is under relentless attack and pressure. As President I will be committed to standing up for our rights under the Second Amendment.

There is far too much violent crime in America. But that fact does not arise from the right of Americans to keep and bear arms.

The news came to me from an old and dear friend. A companion on many weird adventures and a professional journalist with an Emmy sitting on his kitchen counter. The Turk was in tears, filled with righteous anger. Two fellow journalist were shot down in cold blood while just doing their jobs. Sometimes as journalist it is easy to mentally lift yourself above the story at hand, but this morning packed a particular gut punch. A few weeks ago I received a death threat from a degenerate racist who told me on the phone that he would “Blast me.”

In a case regarding a specific gun control law which bans “unauthorized aliens” (illegal immigrants) from possessing firearms in the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit did the work of a contortionist by upholding the law while also pointing out that they “see no principled way to carve out the Second Amendment and say that the unauthorized (or maybe all noncitizens) are excluded.”
