"People tend to protect their gun dealer like their drug dealer," said Sgt. John Newsom of Cincinnati police's Homicide Unit.
--Notice he said PEOPLE, not criminals. Notice how he equated guns with drugs. And yet, the article admits:
"Few guns used in crimes were bought directly from federally licensed gun dealers, records show. Most of Cincinnati's crime guns change hands at least once before landing in the hands of people committing offenses, according to the ATF." |

"I have but one question for the anti-rights activists: If Jean Zamirripa had not had a gun and had not been willing to use it for lawful self-defense, who would Peralez have targeted next? You, your mother, your daughter? If you think an armed neighbor is a threat to your safety, perhaps it is time to think again. Your life may depend upon it!" --Annie |

EAST HANOVER, NJ -- The police complaint reads like something out of "Monty Python's Flying Circus": The defendant "did within the jurisdiction of this court knowingly construct a fake bomb ... specifically by wrapping up several packages of duck sauce and soy sauce inside tissue paper, taping it up with clear tape and writing on it 'Danger Warning Swanton Bomb', therefore in violation of NJS 2C:33-3."

JoinTogether.org -- Farming towns in California's central valley are experiencing a big-city problem: violent youth gangs, Reuters reported Aug. 23... In the past few years, police in farming towns have begun seeing an increase in vandalism, assaults, stabbings, handgun murders, car thefts, arson, sex offenses, school disruption, and juvenile drug arrests.
-Is this any wonder since Californians are prevented by law from defending themselves with adequate means? |

The Daily Herald -- "Gun owners wonder why people seem to view them as dangerous lunatics in desperate need of constant adult supervision. Well, it's pretty simple. The zealots shoot their movement in the foot every time with their insistence that the Second Amendment trumps any attemptto stop them from packing heat anywhere they darn please."
-It's interesting to note the gun owners' comments (at the bottom of the page). Some seem to be in agreement with this assessment. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
