"What if there was a single web site where you could go to learn about the gun rights position of every candidate in every race in every state and federal election in the US? A site where you could find voting records, editorials, and discussion groups ... A site where local grassroots organizations from all over the country come together to share information and ideas ... That web site doesn't exist, but it could exist. It could be GunVoter.org. We're not there yet, but we're working on it. We have the structure in place. The software is operating smoothly. The technical bugs have been worked out and our user base is growing, but we need your help to turn GunVoter.org into the valuable resource that it has the potential to be." ... |

"Lawyers who won the historic Second Amendment gun rights case in the Supreme Court — District of Columbia v. Heller (07-290) — on Monday asked a federal judge to award them more than $3.5 million for attorneys' fees, plus $13,215.30 for expenses and court costs. In a motion and memorandum filed with U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, the attorneys said that they had achieved 'one of the most profound and important victories available under our system of justice.'"
"Their argument also suggested that this was a David vs. Goliath clash, with the attorneys on their side far outnumbered in lawyers, legal resources and government funding." ... |

"The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday upheld a federal trial court ruling blocking a Wyoming law that would allow convicted domestic violence abusers to possess firearms. The court in Wyoming v. United States, as the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence had urged in its amicus brief, prohibited Wyoming from implementing its law to rearm domestic violence abusers."
"The 10th Circuit ruling comes as the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to consider a case in its upcoming term concerning domestic violence abusers' gun possession, United States v. Hayes. The Brady Center filed a brief in Hayes urging the Supreme Court to overturn a circuit court ruling that could require that the names of thousands of dangerous abusers be purged from [NICS]." ... |

"In 2007, Senator Barack Obama stood up for a gun owner. He endorsed Chicago Alderman Dorothy Tillman in her Democratic primary. Not only was she a gun owner, but she had even pulled a gun on her colleagues during a contentious 1991 ward redistricting hearing, according to eyewitnesses. Tillman, best known for demanding to be served by black (not white) waiters, and for advocating reparations for slavery, narrowly lost her race despite Obama’s support."

State Treasurer Jack Markell says if he is elected governor, he will do more to keep guns away from criminals.
Speaking Monday in Wilmington, he said he wants to eliminate a loophole in the law which allows people to buy guns at gun shows without background checks.
He also favors limits on bulk purchases of guns, which he believes lead to weapons being resold on the streets.
Markell's opponent in next month's Democratic primary, Lt. Gov. John Carney has released a plan that would focus law enforcement efforts on "hot spots" and people who buy guns for those who are prohibited from doing so.
Carney has also said he would urge prosecutors to stop dropping gun charges in plea agreements. |

"At least 15 states have already adopted the so-called 'castle doctrine' in recent years, which states homeowners do not have to retreat in the face of a break-in."
"Thankfully, Nevada's police agencies and district attorneys have generally exhibited common sense, usually opting against trying to prosecute individuals who use force to protect their lives and property in the face of a potentially violent criminal. But Mr. Mortensen's legislation would add an extra level of protection for those forced into such unfortunate situations." ... |

Autumn Frodelius, 13, of Fayetteville, showed recently she's got what it takes to win when it comes to competitive shooting.
According to Ron B. Frodelius, her proud grandfather: "At two recent Fayetteville-Manlius Rod and Gun Club rifle shooting, metallic silhoutte matches, Autumn, a first-time shooter (she never held a rifle prior to the matches) won both!
"She won the junior division (twice) beating all boys and girls to age 16. She was shooting at metal targets, 35 to 100 yards, using .22 rimfire rifles. She won two trophies and two perfect "5" pins for perfect scores at 50 and 75 yards.
The grandfather credited her wins with the fact she "had a good rifle, young eyes ... and a "I can win" attitude. |
