(Reuters) -- U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, in a speech to 1,500 law enforcement and community leaders in Philadelphia, said he hoped to make new money for firearms prosecution available through the Justice Department's "Weed and Seed" program, which aims to fight crime at the neighborhood level by weeding out criminals while providing community leaders with funds for revitalization.

KENT -- Kent Junior High teacher Renee Rudenick carries a handgun to protect herself from her ex-husband, her defense attorney told a Kent Municipal Court jury yesterday.

"The 53-year-old Rudenick faces a charge of possessing a firearm on school grounds in a trial expected to last two days."

KABA NOTE: If a teacher is a member of "the people," being prohibited the right to keep and bear arms is a clear rights violation. We hope she pursues this on a second amendment basis.

"The NAS study was originally planned during the Clinton administration, and the study outline and panel makeup ensure that it will produce a properly Clintonian outcome- just in time for the Democrats to use against President Bush in 2004."

More Clinton gun control leftovers.

KABA NOTE: The point is that it's irresponsible for a neighbor to barge in without seeking the identity of the homeowner. Or to KNOCK or CALL. Also notice -- the even LARGER issue -- is the fact that burglaries are climbing in France -- wonder why?

"Asking neighbors about guns not only strains relationships, it exaggerates dangers and risks lives if neighbors are unarmed when criminals attack. Yet possibly some good can come out of all this gun phobia. If your neighbors ask you whether you own a gun, why not offer to go out to a shooting range together and teach them about guns?" --John R. Lott, Jr.

Authorites do not know exactly what killed the suspect... In California, you need a license to carry chemical Mace, but (due to an anti-gun female politico) you can buy pepperspray without one. As we can see, "non-lethal" isn't always...

In "gun free/no CCW" Chicago, Police have been dropping like proverbial flies in gunbattles with violent suspects the past few weeks. Here, a detective is shot and held hostage by a bank robber wanted by the FBI. The bad guy was hit by rounds also...

Court was called to order at 9am sharp. Judge Becker entered and a packed court room of Vana Haggerty supporters rose as one. The judge made no comment but the smile on his face made it clear he had never seen his courtroom so jammed... I mean it was SRO with patriots! You could just sense the US Flag was flying a little higher than usual at that moment.

Excerpts from remarks by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy to students visiting the U.S. Supreme Court, recorded December 14, 1999, aired on C-SPAN's "America And The Courts" program, August 25, 2001.

-The most interesting thing here is how Justice Kennedy DOES NOT answer the last question!

Independence is the recognition of the fact that yours is the responsibility of judgement and nothing can help you escape it — that no substitute can do your thinking, as no pinch-hitter can live your life... — Ayn Rand in "Atlas Shrugged"
