DAVE KOPEL -- "Appalled by the Bush administration's insistence that the U.N. conference not become a springboard for the destruction of Second Amendment rights, a coalition of antigun groups organized a demonstration outside the U.N. during the conference. The Senate's 65-33 vote against Schumer's proposal was a crushing defeat for the New York senator, who has campaigned throughout his career to strip American citizens of their rights.
"Schumer's attempt to slip this amendment into a measure designed to finance housing, environment and veterans' programs proves he is clinging to a philosophy that [is] politically and morally bankrupt. His arrogance and ego backfired, and he created a victory for gun rights." --Alan Gottlieb |

"Few guns used in crimes were bought from federally licensed gun dealers" (Well, Duh! Like we didn't know this all along?)
"Police have confiscated nearly 500 guns" ([How many] of these "confiscations" were illegal?)
So the ATF is going to charge blindly (as usual) into a city jurisdiction (where they have no business operating) where there are "Too many guns getting into the community and being used in crimes" and "it's going to start spilling over into bordering communities"
Well, maybe not, Mr.ATF, those "other communities" could likely help out Cincinnati by eliminating several of these violent armed criminals that are stupid enough to leave their usual "gun free" hunting grounds and wake up dead on the porch of an armed citizen living in a pro-self-defense jurisdiction.
Again we see media bias--blatantly implying that all gun owners are, by their definition, "criminals". |

"...it makes no sense to pass more laws that restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens when laws on the books -- most significantly laws that target violent armed criminals -- are not being enforced with vigor. Does the National Rifle Association have an "enforcement rather than further restriction" message? Indeed." --JAMES JAY BAKER, Exec. Dir., NRA-ILA
--HELLO? Mr. Baker: Enforcing unconstitutional gun laws makes as much nonsense as passing new ones! REPEAL THEM! |

This type of cowardly gunplay is a direct outgrowth of the near impossibility of obtaining CCW by law-abiding citizens in that town. Criminals there have no fear of reprisal while shooting up a neighborhood... |
