He said the internal investigation found while Officer Jones did many things right during that traffic stop, 'some procedures were not properly followed.' FULL TEXT BELOW:
State Police arrested Lee County Sheriff Donnie Hogan around midnight last night.
Police say they responded to a domestic disturbance call between Sheriff Hogan and his girlfriend.
While police aren't giving many details, they do say Hogan assaulted his girlfriend. He was arrested and taken to the Madison County Detention Center, then released Saturday morning.
The sheriff is charged with assault 4th, which is a misdemeanor. If convicted, the sheriff could face up to a year in prison.
State police say Hogan is presumed innocent until proven guilty, so he will continue to be sheriff despite the arrest. |

"It almost looked like a revival in Hamburg on Saturday and Sunday."
"Michael Waddell, Nick Mundt and Travis 'T-Bone' Turner served as preachers in the huge walled tent with clear plastic windows that adjoined the archery section at the Cabela's store in Hamburg."
"All three men, who co-host the hit show 'Bone Collector' on Outdoor Channel, served as the preachers, and the more than 200 people who gathered for the two-hour service served as the choir and congregation. Other than missing a few proclamations of 'Alleluia' or 'Amen,' this was one big love fest for hunting and the hunting lifestyle." ... |

"There are several opportunities in the coming months for Iowans to visit a gun show and exploit the non-existent 'Gun Show Loophole.' In Iowa, there is no Gun Show Loophole, since anyone purchasing a handgun in Iowa must possess a valid Iowa Permit to Acquire Handguns or an Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons. There are a few exceptions to this law, but for the most part, the failure to have in one's possession an Iowa PTA or PCW will keep someone from purchasing a handgun – even at a gun show."

"I don't quite follow the logic of the man who wrote that he believes the Founding Fathers' intent was for the 'well regulated militia' to all carry single-shot rifles or pistols, not modern assault weapons."
"The single shot was the 'assault weapon' of its day - it was all they had. But today it is primarily a hunting weapon, and the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting."
"We have no inherent right to hunt. But that amendment does give us the inherent right to protect ourselves. And with that right also comes the obligation to protect our loved ones and property." ... |
