When police responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 1 a.m., witnesses at the scene said they saw 27-year-old Frank Taylor holding a gun to Carol’s head in an apparent armed robbery.
But even with a gun to her head, the young woman knew how to level the playing field with her assailant, and was well equipped to do so.
As Taylor held the barrel to her skull, Carol reached for her own gun holstered at her hip. She drew her weapon and took aim, firing one shot to end the attack. |

Hillary Clinton is “actively campaigning against the lawful commerce in arms”, the chief executive officer of the America’s largest gun manufacturer said on Wednesday.
Discussing Sturm Ruger’s second-quarter earnings, CEO Michael Fifer was asked whether Clinton’s presidential campaign had anything to do with a rising demand. Background checks for gun sales have reached record levels following a series of mass shootings and Clinton’s calls for restrictions on firearm sales. |

The Aguila Ammo shooting team just got bigger and better. The company is happy to announce the recent addition of Derrick Mein, newly titled FITASC World Sporting Champion, to Team Aguila.
Many would argue that FITASC, (Federation Internationale de Tir Aux Sportives de Chasse) based in Paris and known as an international form of Sporting Clays, is the ultimate challenge in clay target shooting. As part of the USA Sporting Clays team, becoming the FITASC World Champion is the biggest title Derrick Mein holds, but it’s not his first. |

The TMZ reporter asked Beckford what he thought about the “$25 million” Damon made for his latest film, Jason Bourne. Beckford responded, “Hey, if you can get it, get it.” Then he paused and added, “But I thought he was anti-gun?”
Beckford said he sees “a big gun” in Damon’s hand in the film advertisements and Damon’s getting big money.
The TMZ reporter pointed out that “there was a stink about [Damon] holding a gun on the Jason Bourne advertisement.” Beckford responded, “Yes, because he claims he’s not 2A friendly. You can’t sit there and denounce the gun when the gun is making you money… Me personally, I don’t play that. I’m 2A all day, but I guess it’s Hollywood.” |

Texas has implemented what is known as the “campus carry law.”
The law, which took effect Monday, permits those over 21 years old with concealed handgun licenses to take their handguns onto public university campuses.
Under the law, handguns will be allowed in classrooms, dorms, and other campus buildings, although the specifics will vary from school to school. The firearms must be kept holstered and concealed. |

For the past five years I have spent many hours developing and teaching a course called "Pre-Meditated Responder Ambush." One topic raises its head every class: Do you think firefighters should be allowed to carry a weapon? Unfortunately, like most things in our profession, this is not a simple yes or no answer. |

Pence, who is Indiana’s governor, attacked Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as being weak on economic and foreign policy.
“For the sake of our security, for the sake of our prosperity, let’s decide here in Colorado that Hillary Clinton will never be elected president of the United States of America” he said.
Pence also said Trump would appoint U.S. Supreme Court justices opposed to abortion and backed the Second Amendment. |

California is ground zero – the quintessential battleground for gun rights in America – but gun owners in the Golden State are mounting a counter offensive and we need your help.
California is where the gun control forces have been testing out their proposals; first on local levels, then statewide. It is their intent to make these laws a model for the nation.
If you don’t want ‘Commiefornia’ gun laws all across America, they need to be shutdown in California. |

Once again some advocates are advancing what they see as gun rights at the expense of the general rights of private property and contract. This time it’s a new state law that “allows any Tennessean with a valid gun permit to sue a property owner in the event of injury or death provided the incident occurred while in a gun-free zone.” More specifically, the “legislation places responsibility on the business or property owner of the gun-free area to protect the gun owner from any incidents that occur with any ‘invitees,’ trespassers and employees found on the property, as well as vicious and wild animals and ‘defensible man-made and natural hazards.'” |

Three professors at the University of Texas sued July 6 to overturn the law, claiming it is unconstitutional and is forcing colleges to impose "dangerously-experimental gun policies." The 50,000-student Austin campus has been a flashpoint of opposition to the law among faculty and students.
The law took effect Monday, the 50th anniversary of Charles Whitman's sniper attack from the top of the University of Texas campus clock tower, a shooting spree that eventually claimed 17 lives and has come to be accepted as the nation's first mass shooting.
U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel had previously scheduled a preliminary injunction hearing for Thursday in Austin. Classes at the University of Texas start Aug. 24. |

Recent events have demonstrated that we never know where or when evil will strike. Paris, Brussels, San Bernardino and Orlando have taught us we must be vigilant in our surroundings. So when groups such as Maine Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety, which are financed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, want to deny Maine citizens their Second Amendment rights, I have to wonder why they are trying to restrict our right to fight back. |

The Washington Post documented the waffled path Kaine has taken on Second Amendment issues, from promising not to enact new gun laws, to pushing new gun laws. To saying he’s a strong Second Amendment supporter to voting for a slate of pro-gun control bill as a U.S. senator. Mr. Kaine, like most Democrats, has a complicated relationship with this fundamental human right: |

The Supreme Court – it’s no secret – is at stake in the 2016 election. But legal experts say the impact will be far more sweeping if Hillary Clinton wins in the fall, and is able to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia with a left-leaning judge.
That point was only underscored at last week’s Democratic convention, where the Democratic presidential nominee pushed for changes on everything from campaign finance to gun rights, at times citing the court’s role. |

Reflecting a startling change of heart, Czech Republic President Miloš Zeman (shown), once opposed to private civilian ownership of firearms for self-defense, told local Czech newspaper Blesk: “Earlier I spoke often about limiting the ability [of citizens] to have large quantities of weapons. But after the terrorist attacks [in France], I have changed the idea.” He is now pushing the Czech parliament to adopt a new law that would allow citizens to purchase, keep, and use firearms as necessary. |

The people at PorcFest don’t believe in waiting for good politicians to come along. They know that rarely happens. They try to live their lives as much as possible as if government doesn’t exist.
Many carry guns for self-defense, enjoy weed without checking local laws and use digital currency instead of government-printed dollars. For the most part, local authorities tolerate it, knowing the PorcFest participants behave well and clean up after themselves. |

The majority of Nevada sheriffs this week came out in public opposition to Question One, a poorly written gun control initiative on the ballot this November. The top law enforcement officers are jumping into the political fray and working to defeat the gun control initiative, which is largely bankrolled by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Question One would impose new government mandates and fees on nearly all private transfers of firearms in Nevada.
