"That you don’t live in California or don’t hunt are hardly relevant excuses not to get involved -- this is an area where all gun owners must band together, and now. Those who wish to eradicate the right of the people to keep and bear arms wage a perpetual campaign of incremental gains, and if they’re allowed to establish and secure this beachhead, they’ll use it to launch their next offensive deeper into the interior, against something that you hold dear. It's in all gun owners' interests to hold the line and then push back from here."

After a few months of not making my weekly trip to my local gun store because his shelves were nearly empty, I decided to see what was new. To my surprise all the gun shelves were full of gun, many that I was interested in. However the parking lot was empty and only the store owner stood behind the counter. His two salespeople were not there. You could almost hear the tumbleweed blowing through the place.

Juan Tavera, a six-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at the time of the alleged crime, faces one year in jail if convicted of spraying the pizza and ultimately sickening five people who ate it, according to a release by the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

A Martinez man was arrested Saturday after a disturbance at the second annual Gun Buyback Day.
Sitting in a lawn chair next to a sign that read: “I pay more,” Shaun Ray Britt, 27, of Fairfax Street, attempted to attract gun owners away from the event by offering a bigger payday for their unwanted firearms.
About 11 a.m.,Britt became confrontational when deputies asked him to set up shop off the church property.
“He’s just deteriorating the problem,” said Niki Watson, the event’s coordinator. “We’re trying to get guns out of the wrong hands ....”
Less than an hour later, Britt was handcuffed and taken to the Richmond County Jail.

Richmond County Sheriff's officials say they're considering adding license plate readers to their patrol fleet.
Deputy Terry Skinner tells the Augusta Chronicle the automated license plate readers have made an impact in the department during a testing phase.
Skinner says the readers can scan 1,000 cars in 10 minutes and send an alert to the officer driving the car if the license plate is linked to criminal activity.

An eyewitness recorded cellphone video of a Santa Ana police officer shoot and kill an unarmed 22-year-old homeless man at a shopping center earlier this week.
The witness, who wished to remain unidentified, was standing in the parking lot of the Harbor Place Shopping Center on South Harbor Boulevard around 3 p.m. Tuesday when he said he filmed a confrontation in front of Jugo’s La Tropicana between an officer, later identified as a 13-year veteran, and victim Hans Kevin Arellano.

I am greatly disappointed by this news. There was already a Statewide review made up of a diverse panel from LEO, prosecutors, Democrats and Republicans who found no problems with the law but some with the understanding of prosecutors and LEO. I think what needs to be done is make all those opposed to SYG laws to attend a class where they can be forced to read the laws which they oppose. I have yet to run into one single person who opposes SYG, that has even made an attempt to read the law.

COLUMBUS, Texas Authorities say a Texas bank employee and her husband were held at gunpoint at their house, then forced to go take out money where the woman worked before the plot ended with their captors shot.

Sgt. Andrew Weido of the Columbus County Sheriff's Office said investigators believe the two men who threatened the couple knew the woman worked at the First National Bank of Eagle Lake in Columbus.

Weido told Houston television station KHOU the heist ended on the drive back from the bank. He said the bank employee's husband was able to access a firearm in the car and shoot their captors.

One was pronounced dead and the other hospitalized.

Cregan Newhouse patrols the streets of Seattle, chasing license plates.
Mounted atop his Parking Enforcement minivan sit three cameras, capturing every plate he passes and instantly checking them against a database of stolen cars and unpaid tickets.
On this cloudy afternoon, he finds just two stolen cars and no chronic parking offenders, a smaller haul than usual.
But his work does not go to waste. The thousands of photos are entered into a Seattle Police Department database where, for the three months before they are destroyed, they’ll be available for use in criminal investigations.

You wouldn’t give up your life or property without a fight if a criminal assaulted you — not if you had any way to fight back.

Nor should you give up your right of self-defense when enemies of that right assault you — not when you have so much democratic armament at your disposal.

Power hates power

Ever notice that many who wield power like politicians, the rich and even actors/celebrities, hate guns in the hands of the average man. I think it is because they realize that no matter how big and powerful they are, any man or woman with a gun can bend them to their will. They fear what Sam Colt said about guns making all men equal. They do not want to be equal. They want to be at the top of the pyramid. Top dog. They do not need guns to make them equal to other men. They feel that their power allows them to dominate men.

It's the stuff of urban legend - something that happens so seldom many area attorneys say they know little about its legality.

But already twice this year in Luzerne County, men armed with guns have performed citizen's arrests, detaining alleged criminals for police. While some areas see hardly any such incidents, the recent uptick here represents a sign of the times, Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said.

A group of black lawmakers in Ohio has started circulating petitions to help keep a “stand your ground” proposal from being passed in the state.

The bill would allow people to use force to defend themselves without having a duty to retreat first.

The legislation goes beyond Ohio’s current castle doctrine law, which gives people the right to defend themselves with force in their homes, vehicles or vehicles of immediate family members.

But the failed bill’s aftermath resulted in political repercussions during the 2012 election cycle — namely the GOP primary defeat of Republican House Caucus Chair Debra Maggart, who was targeted by TFA and viewed as not allowing the legislation to come to a floor vote.

Following Glover’s remarks at the chamber barbecue, Ramsey nodded when asked if employers have decided to stop complaining about the new law.

The National Rifle Association has opened an elaborate museum in the American Midwest, displaying nearly 1,000 firearms, including those used by French Emperor Napoleon and Hollywood cowboy star John Wayne, along with subtle reminders of the campaign for the right to gun ownership.

The NRA National Sporting Arms Museum opened on Friday at a sprawling Bass Pro Shops outdoor retail store in Springfield, Missouri, a politically conservative central U.S. city that is a gateway to the mountainous Ozarks region popular with tourist and hunters.

Next month's recall elections of Colorado Senate President John Morse and state Sen. Angela Giron — both Democrats — stand as a twisted version of "democracy at the barrel of a gun."

Proponents of the recall petitions are angry that Morse and Giron supported measures in the past legislative session that — heaven forbid — require every gun purchase to go through a background check and limit the number of bullets that pre-loaded magazines can hold.

Your guns are in danger. Obama has stopped defending the Second Amendment. He did not get his gun control agenda passed in the Senate. So, he’s unconstitutionally trying to use the United Nations to control your guns. Don’t let him.

Obama is getting dangerously close to signing the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. If he signs this treaty and the Senate ratifies it, the Second Amendment is toast. And your guns will be in the control of dictators around the world.

A group pushing to oust Senate President John Morse has purchased radio airtime to persuade El Paso County to vote against the lawmaker in this fall's recall election.

The nonprofit political group IACE Action notes Morse's past ethics complaint, support for tax increases and "radical" gun-control laws in the radio ad that began running Friday. However, some of the ad's claims against Morse were unclear or overstated.
