Anti-gun leftists claim that they care if women are stalked, raped, and murdered by criminals, but if women who are the target of these criminals ask for protection, or ask to carry the single most effective deterrent to this sort of attack (a concealed firearm), they quickly show how little they care about human life: |

Gun retailers are no longer on a hit list deemed “high risk” by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. after the banking regulator formally withdrew Monday the list it put together that outlined what merchants may be considered risky for banks to do business with as part of the Obama administration’s “Operation Choke Point.” The agency said its explanatory warning list “led to misunderstandings” about how it’s supervising banks’ ties to third-party payment providers, according to Bloomberg News. The regulator said it never meant to prevent banks from doing financial transactions with the types of businesses on the list.

The anti-gun left and their allies in the news media rarely miss an opportunity to attack gun owners, and they’ve frenetically focused in recent months on the “New NRA.” The younger, more hip, and more diverse stable of commentators that is the public face of the National Rifle Association in their new media properties seems to terrify the anti-gun left, and they’ve gone after them with a vengeance that they typically reserve for minorities that dare leave the liberal plantation. |

As you well know, there are many people who want guns removed from the hands of the public at large. The majority of these people are uninformed, uneducated or misdirected regarding the subject matter.
Unfortunately, in the process, the subject of guns has become politicized.
Guns have always been with us. They have been accepted as part of our heritage. So why is it that all of a sudden they have become the bad guy? |

Two gun rights advocates have authored a book in an attempt to teach kids about self-defense and the Second Amendment.
Brian Jeffs and Nathan Nephew co-wrote “My Parents Open Carry” after they founded Michigan Open Carry, a group dedicated to promoting the practice of possessing a handgun in public. They believed that Americans are confused about open carry laws, so they hope the book will answer common questions and make clear that each state has its own public gun laws. |

After separate brushes with the criminal element, two Ohio grandmothers in their 50′s founded a concealed carry group named “Women Armed and Ready” and promise to “never leave home without it.”
The group meets twice monthly and, according to their Facebook page, sponsors self-defense classes at local churches as well as female-oriented concealed carry certification classes at area shooting ranges. Founded in May, they have the blessing of area law enforcement and their membership is growing. |

Harnett County Sheriff Larry Rollins didn’t hesitate to give a straight answer. When called upon at a prayer vigil Monday night, he urged them to get armed and get serious about defending their homes.
“Even though I’m a cop, I don’t go anywhere without a gun,” he told about 130 residents who gathered at a local church to discuss and pray about a string of shootings that have left several people dead or injured over the past two weeks. “I want my deputies to get there just as fast as they possibly can if you’ve got a problem. But you better be able to take care of business before we get there if you need to protect your family.”

Imagine this scenario: While acknowledging the right to bear arms, a state makes it nearly impossible to buy them.
The state sets up rules for gun dealerships that are almost impossible to meet, so that only one or two can do business, forcing someone wanting a gun to drive hours just to make a purchase — making it clear all the while it doesn’t approve of gun ownership.

Delaware County Sheriff John LeClerc was skeptical.
“If you see nothing but a blurry mass in front of you, then I would say you probably shouldn’t be shooting at something,” said.
Sheriff Warren of Cedar County disagreed.
“If sheriffs spent more time trying to keep guns out of criminals’ hands and not people with disabilities, their time would be more productive,” he said.
Sheriff Warren’s legally blind daughter plans to apply for a gun permit as soon as she turns 21. |

Should owners of firearms be required to carry gun liability insurance to cover the potential risks their weapons pose?
Or do law-abiding gun owners instead need protection from insurers who may charge them more for home and auto coverage or even deny them coverage when they "keep and bear arms"?
The insurance industry has been reluctantly drawn into these two heated debates by events such as the 2012 shooting death of unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin by a man who claimed it was self-defense, and recent rampages such as the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. |

“The idea of a smart-gun maker who has lots of experience making guns is intriguing because he’s not just some fly-by-night guy trying to do this,” said Rabbi Joel Mosbacher, a member of the group that met with Mauch. “Law enforcement officials have been quietly saying that if he comes over, they’d be willing to meet with him.”
Mauch hopes to meet with U.S. police officials in September. Under no circumstances, he said, will he back away from the technology, even though he acknowledges the backlash has sometimes led him to ponder quitting. “You are responsible for all the lives you could save,” his wife tells him. |
