In much the same way that shoplifting has become “shopping” in progressive-run cities and gun control is rebranded as “responsible solutions,” one of the left’s approaches to public safety is funding ex-cons and felons to quell crime. A recent alert highlighted a problem with non-traditional policing alternatives to public safety that employ “violence interrupters” or “community safety ambassadors.” Rather than helping to fight crime, the “peacekeepers” were, in some cases, actually contributing to it. |

You may remember that last year, the Supreme Court handed down a ruling in New York State Rifle & Pisol Association v. Bruen. It made all the papers at the time. The Court invalidated New York’s “good cause” requirement that kept hundreds of thousands of Empire Staters from lawfully carrying a firearm (unless, of course, they were celebrity, well-connected, or paid a fixer to walk their application through the Byzantine approval process). |

True Velocity’s composite casings are intended to make rifle ammunition be more lightweight, accurate, consistent and reduce the amount of heat transfer from the ignition of propellants to the chamber area of a firearm. |

The concept of situational awareness has been discussed in the self-defense space to the point that it has become cliche. Everyone should realize that being skilled and armed does you no good if taken by complete surprise. However, there are specific concepts within the scope of situational awareness that deserve more attention than they get. Much is said about being aware of who is around you, what they are doing, and where the exits to any given environment are. This is all very important. But, one element of awareness that I rarely see discussed is this: what is the point of criminal focus in any given environment? Knowing this, and knowing where that point is in relation to your position, are important safety factors. |

Moderate members of both political parties are criticizing the Biden Administration for its recent move to defund longstanding scholastic archery and hunter education programs under a recently passed gun control law. The programs, which have no demonstrable connection to crime or violence, are the latest innocent victims of the misnamed Bi-Partisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA). The episode reinforces two critically important lessons that any pro-gun legislator should remember. One: there is no such thing as harmless gun control. Two: Moderates who join forces with anti-gun extremists will eventually be embarrassed by the partnership. |

Illinois will soon outlaw advertising for firearms that officials determine produces a public safety threat or appeals to children, militants or others who might later use the weapons illegally, as the state continues its quest to curb mass shootings. Gun-rights advocates say the plan, which Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker has pledged to sign into law, is an unreasonably vague decree that violates not only the constitutionally protected right to own guns, but also free speech. |

A Rhode Island man who operated a "ghost gun factory" from his Providence home pleaded guilty to charges last week in New York City, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan announced. Robert Alcantara, 36, conspired to sell more than 100 ghost guns to people in the Dominican Republic, according to Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. "Ghost guns" are purposely made without serial numbers, making them difficult for law-enforcement agencies to trace. |

#7 shot is primarily used for target shooting, clays and medium-sized birds like grouse, partridge, quail, and snipe. Old-timers will usually refer to #7 and #7.5 as “dove shot,” because it excels at hitting birds and small animals that are roughly the size of a large dove. As with any steel shot, you will sacrifice a bit of power and penetration compared to the lead equivalent, but you will gain the ability to hunt in all the places where lead is banned. Steel shot is also one of the lower-priced, “non-toxic” types of ammo. So if you love hunting, clay shooting and target shooting – this ammo should meet all your needs. Today, #7 shot is most commonly found in 12 and 20 gauges, from manufacturers like RIO, Fiocchi and Winchester.
