According to court documents, responding officers found Campbell unconscious near a set of mailboxes with two visible bullet wounds to his chest. While both sides confirm that Palmer shot Campbell seven times, defense attorney Brigitte Carneal argues these actions were in self-defense.

"You are going to hear and see a series of explosions, and you will see them all going backwards – Jordan is shooting while he is backing away. You will also see that while those shots are going off, Stephen Campbell is moving forward," Carneal explained.

The law, and how it’s being interpreted, now stands at the center of a 2023 fatal shooting in Horry County that has attracted national attention amid allegations of police misconduct.

North Myrtle Beach businessman Weldon Boyd and his friend, Kenneth “Bradley” Williams shot and killed Scott Spivey, 33, of North Carolina, Sept. 9, 2023, on Camp Swamp Road in what police have labeled a road rage incident.

Law enforcement agencies have declined to charge Boyd or Williams, who both assert they were acting in self defense, but evidence uncovered in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Spivey’s family has cast doubt on that claim.

Welcome to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we took a look at the minimum safe caliber for carrying concealed. There were some good debates going on in the comment section, so if you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to catch up. This week, I wanted to take a look at some useful items that people don't often think about when purchasing their first handgun or consider when helping their significant others or family members with purchasing a gun. I cannot tell you how many times I see people only buy half the things they need to succeed, which results in them leaving their gun at home until they figure out what all they need to carry on a daily basis.

Two people are dead and one is in custody after a shooting Thursday morning on Detroit's east side.

Police say the shooting happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday in the 3800 block of Bewick Street. When officers arrived, they found two people dead in the street.

Investigators say a gunman shot another person, and then that gunman was shot by someone else. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison says the second shooter may be a relative of the first victim and could have been acting in self-defense.

"It's been too much violence in this city. Even though crime is down, it doesn't feel like it," Bettison said.

In recent articles, I’ve discussed a pending lawsuit fighting the NFA. Dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Lawsuit,” Gun Owners of America and numerous partner organizations aim to complete the task the OBBB failed to accomplish in the Senate. I also mentioned that we are entering a new era of cooperation. The Firearms Policy Coalition, the Second Amendment Foundation, NRA-ILA, FRAC, the American Suppressor Association, GOA, and others are collaborating. This is a significant development. For years, the 2A community has been fractured, but now we are united—at least when it comes to activism.

On Wednesday, another mass shooting unfolded — this time at Fort Stewart military base in Georgia. A male Army sergeant, who illegally carried a gun on the base, wounded five soldiers before others tackled and disarmed him.

Typically, only authorized designated security forces such as MPs are armed on duty. Any other soldier caught carrying a firearm faces severe consequences, ranging from a rank reduction, court-martial, potential criminal convictions, dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of pay, and even imprisonment.

Six men who were living in DeLand, Florida have been sentenced for illegally straw purchasing and then trafficking 33 semi-automatic firearms that they sold to a violent Mexican drug cartel, the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, known as CJNG, which is located in Zitacuaro, Michoacan, Mexico.

According to U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida Gregory W. Kehoe, the ATF began investigating the six men in May 2023. They learned that the group was led by Angel Valazquez Delgado.

A Tennessee man failed to convince a panel of Sixth Circuit judges that the federal ban on machine guns is unconstitutional.

Machine guns are dangerous weapons that aren’t commonly “possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes,” and a law that criminalizes their possession is therefore consistent with the tradition of firearm regulation in the country, the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said Thursday.

Records released this week by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirm they had several contacts in recent years with Shane Tamura, the 27-year-old man who drove to New York and killed four people on July 28. The records show he was known to suffer from mental illness, had been the subject of two emergency psychiatric evaluations, and yet was still allowed to buy firearms legally — including the AR-15-style rifle used in New York.

The information includes 911 calls from Tamura's mother, who reported that her son was suicidal, and that he'd been diagnosed with anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.

MN: Minnesota Supreme Court’s “ghost guns” decision sparks complications for law enforcement

The difficulty with ghost guns is their untraceable nature.

The sheriff says, without a serial number to refer to during investigations, solving crimes involving ghost guns becomes even more difficult, and a decision like this makes charging individuals with possession impossible on a local level.

“Now these folks are going to potentially be able to market these guns and or trade and buy and sell them so much easier,” said Sheriff Torgerson.

The Minnesota Supreme Court’s decision is based on the interplay between state and federal statutes, with the court ruling that state law is not clear enough on whether these guns are legal to have.

MN: MN Supreme Court rules that ownership of “ghost guns” is legal in state

Minnesota’s Supreme Court issued an opinion on Wednesday that so-called “ghost guns” are not illegal.

The ruling comes from a case from 2022, where an officer was responding to a crash in Fridley. The officer encountered the owner of the vehicle, a man named Logan Hunter Vagle, at the scene. In Vagle’s vehicle, he located a 9mm pistol that did not have a serial number. The pistol was a ghost gun.

Ghost guns are firearms that are assembled by the gun owner. Since they seldom have serial numbers, they’re effectively untraceable.

CZ Bren 2 Ms Carbine Review: Refined Combat-Tested Rifle with Modern Modularity

Offering one of the slickest-running actions I’ve ever tested on a non-custom semi-auto rifle, CZ’s modular Bren 2 Ms carbine is feature-rich and incredibly soft-recoiling.

The Czech-designed Bren line dates back to 2006 and was originally meant as a replacement for the aging Cold War-era vz. 58. One of the gun’s most unique features was a clever modularity that included the ability to swap calibers between the 5.56x45mm used by NATO nations and the 7.62x39mm AK cartridge favored in the former Soviet Union’s sphere of influence.

Today, it’s also a combat-proven design, with distinguished service on battlefields ranging from the War in Afghanistan to the current Russia-Ukraine conflict.

OK, our headline here is a classic set of “fighting words.” Some might even call it “clickbait,” which — I assure you — it is. However, let me explain the gist of my thesis: if you’re looking to save money in 2025, metallic cartridge reloading is either barely cost-effective or has no financial benefit whatsoever. I’ll explain in a moment.

However, if you look at reloading as an integral part of your hobby and you don’t bill your own work at $50 an hour, the reloading cost/benefit ratio begins to make a whole lot more sense.

A federal appeals panel on Thursday upheld the conviction of Jaquan Bridges for possessing an unregistered machine gun, setting the precedent that the weapons are not protected by the Second Amendment.

Bridges, 22, was arrested with a Glock .40 caliber pistol with an attachment that converted the handgun into a machine gun after he nearly struck a police vehicle on a highway in Memphis and shot at the officers while he fled the scene.

A federal judge says Rhode Island's gun permit system, which requires residents to show “a need” to openly carry a firearm throughout the state, does not violate the Second Amendment.

In a ruling handed down Friday, U.S. District Judge William Smith granted Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha’s motion for summary judgment that dismisses a lawsuit filed by a coalition of gun owners in 2023.

The lawsuit stems from a Rhode Island law dictating how the state issues firearms permits.

It’s finally happening. Over the past month, I’ve been highlighting the joint and unified effort of various gun rights organizations and their fight against tyrannical and blatant suppression of Second Amendment rights. For the first time, many of us are confident in these organizations as they are united and pooling their resources. Previously, the Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners Foundation, Palmetto State Armory, the Firearms Regulatory and Accountability Coalition, Silencer Shop, and B&T USA filed the “One Big Beautiful Lawsuit” to strike down the NFA.

This lawsuit argued that the reduction of a tax stamp fee removes the precedent that the NFA is a tax, as decided in Sonzinsky v. United States (1937).

Recently, while touting gun seizures in a city that has some of the most authoritarian gun laws in the United States, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch lamented, "the number of illegal guns that we've seen used in New York City has exploded since 3D technology has come about." She's not alone. Homemade guns are increasingly sophisticated and available almost everywhere. That's a good thing.

Gun control groups are clutching their pearls again. This time they’re aghast over the notion that President Donald Trump’s administration is defending Second Amendment rights as the Constitutionally-protected rights they actually are. It’s more telling of the gun control cabal’s meltdown that their preferred narrative is losing out to the letter of the law.

USA Today reported, “Trump DOJ wants Supreme Court to bring down hammer on gun rules,” noting the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) recent moves to secure Second Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens instead of attacking them.

NSSF, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, applauds President Donald Trump’s signing today at The White House the Executive Order Guaranteeing Free and Fair Banking for All Americans. Today’s executive order enforces a firearm industry priority to end banking discrimination against individuals and entities based on political beliefs. For years, members of the firearm industry have been denied banking and financial services by banks espousing “woke” anti-Second Amendment policies.

The controversial law was passed by voters in 2016. However, two years later, gun rights advocates filed a successful lawsuit, Rhode v. Bonta, to reverse the law. In 2020, the suit led to an injunction issued by a federal district court to reverse the law, but an appeals court blocked the order and allowed the law to take effect.

Fast forward another two years, and a precedent was set in a gun rights case that made it to the U.S. Supreme Court. In New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, the Supreme Court ruled that New York’s “proper cause” requirement for concealed carry permits was unconstitutional.

We visited Savage Arms in Westfield, Massachusetts, where we found something a bit different in the way the company makes its barrels.

There are a lot of secrets, actually. Like starting with all-American-made carbon or stainless steel-- no imports. Then, the steel is drilled, reamed, and button rifled broached the old way to impart the lands and grooves to the barrel.

Next, you have a barrel straightening process. By a human. By hand.

We spoke with Sheppard Torres, who has spent the past 21 years hand-straightening barrels at Savage to improve accuracy. Factory tours around the world rarely reveal this level of craftsmanship.
