Remington designed their 6.8mm Special Purpose Cartridge (SPC) to have improved terminal performance over the 5.56mm NATO, which is the cartridge currently used by the U.S. military. Specifically designed to perform better when fired from carbines and Short Barreled Rifles (SBR), Remington collaborated with special ops troops and the Army Marksmanship Unit to develop the 6.8 SPC. Development began in 2002, and field trials took place in 2004. The military did not adopt the cartridge, but field trials did show an interest in returning to a larger caliber rifle for applications other than sniping.

The economic, political, academic, and media elites around the world are leveraging the chaos, confusion, and restrictions on liberty from the COVID-19 lockdowns and using them to radically alter society around the world.

In November 1959 an article appeared announcing a new and very powerful wildcat handgun round called the .454 Casull that set the handgun world on fire. The cartridge came about as a collaborative endeavor between Jack Fulmer, Duane Marsh and led by a young gunsmith, Dick Casull. Years later Casull told me that developing the cartridge and the revolver capable of safely handling it took three years. On the surface, it doesn’t seem too complex from today’s perspective, but remember this was some 63 years ago.

President Joe Biden (D) and White House officials recently met with attorneys general from seven states and Washington, D.C., to discuss how they can “hold accountable” law-abiding gun manufacturers and dealers for the actions of criminals. Amongst those present were Letitia James of New York (who says she wants the NRA obliterated), Karl Racine of Washington, D.C., six other attorneys general (all Democrats), Susan Rice, and other Biden administration officials.

The SKS is one of the most well-known military arms all around the world, and has been embraced by shooters and collectors since they first began being imported to this day. The history of the SKS is well known, designed in 1943 by Sergei Simonov in the new 7.62 x 39mm cartridge that was an intermediate between the smaller submachine gun rounds (7.62x25mm) and the 7.62x54mm round.

Mills County is now considered the largest county in Iowa to pass the Second Amendment sanctuary resolution. In a 3-0 vote, it was passed unanimously. This is the sixth county in the state to pass the resolution. According to the release, the “Second Amendment Sanctuary legislation at the county level does not supersede federal law, it does prevent local resources from being used to enforce measures that are at odds with the U.S. Constitution.”

Duck hunters could be in for a tough season. North Dakota Game and Fish staff say the Fall Flight could be down 36% from last year. The last time the state saw a drop like that was in the ‘90s. The drought has left a lot of state wetlands in worse condition, and breeding patterns took a hit. He says one dry year shouldn’t have lasting effects on the duck population.

AK: Aug. 10 is coming and with it the start of hunting season in Alaska, so it’s time once again to review firearm safety

While it may be true that hunting season in Alaska never closes — various bear seasons around the state are open year-round, and small game such as hares are also open all year — for most folks, late fall marks the end of hunting season.

Tuesday is Aug. 10, or what some of us refer to as the “glorious tenth,” similar to Britain’s “Glorious Twelfth,” the day that marks the opening of the red grouse season across the pond.

In Alaska, Aug. 10 marks the opening of hunting for a majority of Alaska’s game species across the state. Sheep, caribou, deer & upland bird seasons flood the game fields with hunters.

With that, it seems a good time to revisit firearms safety issues as a reminder that one can ill-afford to let their guard down.

The upper Midwest has a healthy population of gray wolves, but even though wolves had been removed from endangered species protections since January, the idea of hunting these critters has been highly controversial. Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan have a combined population of more than 4,400 wolves. Each state is handling its responsibility of managing wolves quite differently.

Featuring a hybrid flash hider/compensator, a two-stage trigger, and a striking Cerakote finish, the new Sig Sauer M400 Tread Snakebite SE hit the market this week. The New Hampshire-based firearms giant announced the Snakebite SE on Thursday. While shipping standard with the same features as the current M400 Tread Snakebite model, the new rifle brings some added upgrades. Sig is especially proud of the flash hider/compensator device, which it bills as providing minimal flash and reduced muzzle rise, and the two-stage Matchlite trigger that it advertises as delivering an ultralight trigger pull for increased accuracy.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. — Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
