"On September 8, 2009, United States District Judge Bruce D. Black of the United States District Court for New Mexico entered summary judgment in a civil case for damages against Alamogordo, NM police officers. The Judge's straight shootin' message to police: Leave open carriers alone unless you have 'reason to believe that a crime [is] afoot.'"

"The facts of the case are pretty simple. Matthew St. John entered an Alamogordo movie theater as a paying customer and sat down to enjoy the movie. He was openly carrying a holstered handgun ..."

"As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama deliberately and repeatedly lied to America's 90 million gun owners across the country when he insisted that he would not try to take away anyone's firearms, officials from the [CCRKBA] said in a statement released to the National Association of Chiefs of Police."

"CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, reacting to ongoing remarks by Obama's Attorney General Eric Holder that the president will seek to reinstate the ban on semi-automatic firearms, said Obama 'knew he was lying to the nation because his own website touted his plan to revive the gun ban and make it permanent.'"

Casus Belli: The meaning of "Not one more inch."

A new reader has commented . . . "I don't think they will ever give a clear point at which you can decide to fight back. It will be extreme incrementalism. . ."

I get this a lot. From some, like the Prags, it is calculated defeatism. They deny that anyone will resist because that is the one thing that frightens them to death. . . From most others it is a genuine concern. . . For Three Percenters, however, incrementalism is exactly the reason we have taken our stand.

This is why we declare "not one more inch." . . . I suppose that someone on the other side, reading "not one more inch" might conclude he can get away with a half-inch or a quarter inch.

That would be a fatal mistake.

For a whole lot of people.

Mainstream and Threeper Arrangements for 12 September March.

I will be riding up to DC with my good friend Pete from WRSA, who has this discussion below about mainstream and Threeper arrangements. I will say one thing. I know we talked about toy guns and empty holsters in some of the posts, but after due consideration I would like to discourage that. Both empty holsters and toy guns are rather gelded gestures. Now, if you want to bring a sign that says: "Don't make us have to come back here with our rifles," that's a fair warning.

See you there.

Just received this from David Codrea. It seems somebody in the Justice Department is a fan of my writing.

Since it seems so popular, I'll reprint it here. Maybe these boys are suckers for a gambit. Hey, Eric, if you want me to autograph it, I'll be in your neck of the woods on Saturday. C'mon down. You can even get Stewart Rhodes of Oath Keepers to help you re-swear your oath, in case you've forgotten it already.

Yes, there may have been the Wild West and, while that’s a great example, it’s not the one we’re going for here. No, we’re talking about more recent day farming towns, small towns, the Midwest. "So, David Sirota has gotten around to responding to my wager. Of course, he isn’t going to take the wager — but he is manfully trying to find his way out of the corner into which he has painted himself though his (a) ignorance or (b) dishonesty on the question of firearms and the damage they are capable of doing."

"A quick explanation: Sirota wrote that he was worried about guns capable of being used to kill 'scores' of people in a matter of 'seconds.' Offering the most generous interpretation of his words that is logically sound, I offered him a bet: That he cannot use any firearm covered by the old 'Assault Weapons Ban' to make 40 (two score) kill-zone hits on human-sized targets in less than one minute. ..." ...

"The New York Post featured a banner headline last week. It read, 'Go Ahead, Make My High Holiday'. It tells the story of a bunch of well-intentioned knuckleheads, led by Rabbi Gary Moscowitz, a former member of the NYPD who was relieved of his duties for unspecified reasons. The group is doing 'anti-terrorist training' and preparing to bring weapons to synagogue to deal with the possible threat of terrorism over Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. I am not sure which is worse -- how stupid this is, or how dangerous."

"A new report on gun shows in the U.S., the result of more than three years of intensive research including visits to some 78 gun shows in 19 states, provides a compelling look at these events and a factual primer on why lax regulations on firearms sales at shows in many states are a problem." ...
-------

KABA Note: Of course as pointed out by Dave Workman, the study shows nothing of the kind. As Dr. Wintemute himself stated "'It's just as a matter of logic that private party sales are more likely to result in criminal use of firearms, but it's an inference at this point." [emphasis added]

"The announcement by some rabbis that they were planning to bring guns to High Holy Day services in order to deal with any would-be attackers brought to mind my own holiday services, Eid ul Fitr, which are coming up in a couple weeks. Many mosques in America hire security services, or have police details ensuring security during the very popular morning services. ... due to regular attacks on mosques across the country, they are considered de riguer." ...

"The proper response to these kinds of attacks is just what the Muslim community has done ... Having the Imam -- or the Rabbi -- carrying a gun is not only ineffective, but it only serves to create or enhance irrational fears." ...

Submitter's Note: So hiring someone to carry a gun is okay, but taking responsibility for your own safety and the safety of your congregation is irrational?

"Specifically, the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, the official NRA-affiliated State Association in New York, urged its members yesterday to vote against me in the race for DA. And I couldn't be prouder."

"Taking aggressive but common-sense measures to keep New Yorkers safe from gun violence is what this city needs, but is something the NYSRPA doesn't seem to get.
