I’ve shot a lot of questionable ammo in my lifetime…From Russian steel core corrosive 7.62x54R to gun show reloads that looked like they were dragged through the jungles of Vietnam before being sold. And I would trust all of those with my life A LOT more than anything sold by Federal Armament LLC (FedArm for short).

An article idea that I've kicked around for some time is a discussion of where steel-framed competition pistols could fit into a self-defense plan. The model that inspired this line of thinking was a Walther race gun I had the opportunity to work with back in 2019 called the Q5 Match. After working with two examples of this gun, one with a steel frame and the other assembled around a polymer frame, I opted to add the steel version to my collection. A steel frame adds weight to the gun which in turn provides increased stability and works to effectively tame levels of felt recoil.

Kamala Harris’ vehement anti-gun views, which include support for gun confiscation and a ban on semi-automatic firearms, have reinvigorated a serious and needed debate about the authority states have to check unconstitutional federal laws. Frustratingly, a panel of federal appellate judges just neutered much of that ability in a unanimous ruling to uphold a lower court injunction against a pro-gun Missouri law — and in the process they ignored substance, precedent, and common sense.

A three-judge panel from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld part of an injunction on concealed carry restrictions in Hawaii and California while striking down other parts. The ruling was for three different cases, including May v. Bonta, which was a joint effort between Gun Owners of America (GOA), Gun Owners of California (GOC), Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA), and the Liberal Gun Owners Association (LGOA). |

A district court in Kansas has ruled that the federal law prohibiting the possession of “machineguns” failed the test set out in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n, Inc. v. Bruen (2022). “The court finds that the Second Amendment applies to the weapons charged because they are ‘bearable arms’ within the original meaning of the amendment. The court further finds that the government has failed to establish that this nation’s history of gun regulation justifies the application of 18 U.S.C. § 922(o) to Defendant.” |

On Sep. 4, a 14-year-old student opened fire in a Georgia high school, killing four. In April, Tennessee became the latest state to pass a law that would arm teachers in schools. In the wake of these events, some people argue that arming teachers would not only deter school shootings, but also help protect students in the case of an active shooter situation. |

Product reviewers should give total disclosure on their biases and prejudices before the evaluation. Very well — the GLOCK 30 .45 Auto has been my favorite GLOCK since its introduction a quarter century or so ago. It fired 11 rounds of my favorite defensive pistol caliber; it fit my hand a little better than other GLOCKs at the time of its introduction; and it was utterly reliable and preternaturally accurate for its size and barrel length. |

It's easy to see why someone would want to compare the 50 Beowulf vs 50 BMG, judging by the fact they both have "50" in their name.
That's about the only similarities these calibers have in common. The differences are apparent once you see the rounds side-by-side. There's no denying they were created for very different purposes. |

Just a couple of weeks ago, a special panel of Georgia state senators convened to study potential laws aimed at keeping firearms safely locked up and out of the hands of children. A day after a 14-year-old was charged in a deadly shooting at his Georgia high school, that same panel gathered again Thursday to discuss safe gun storage policies. The lawmakers are still talking about the issue because — like many state legislatures across the U.S. — they have been unable to agree in recent years on whether new gun safety measures provide a solution to the all-too-frequent occurrence of mass shootings at schools and public places. |
