Not only do you have an amazing rifle that is perfect for plinking, self-defense, and small game hunting, but you also have a tool that is capable of defending freedom. |

They say you keep coming back to your first love …
I’m writing this during my annual sojourn of carrying and teaching with a 1911 pistol, if only to give me some re-acclimation and prep time before my favorite match of the year, The Pin Shoot. Those heavy bowling pins need momentum to knock them the requisite three feet back and the .45 ACP has historically done the job well.

When it comes to long range shooting, two calibers that cannot be ignored are the 6.5 Creedmoor and the venerable 308 Winchester.
Although the 308 Winchester (7.62 NATO) has been a staple in the long-range target shooting community since its inception over 60 years ago, the 6.5 Creedmoor simply outperforms the 308 Winchester in almost every category when shooting out past 500 yards. |

Editorial note: Since this article was published, Danelo Cavalcante has been captured. It’s no surprise that an increase in gun sales was seen during his 2-week run from the law, but it should serve as an important reminder to be prepared before situations arise. During the manhunt, multiple homes were entered by Cavalcante, who was looking for food and other items to survive. Any one of those incidents could have turned violent. One homeowner fired 7 shots at him after he broke into a garage, yet he wasn’t hit with any of the rounds and managed to escape the garage with a rifle.

In the legal world there is a Latin term in terrorem. The term is used to describe actions designed to intimidate or terrorize someone into a certain course of conduct, often in cases where the actual legal ability or willingness to demand that course of conduct are dubious. In short, rule through fear rather than legitimacy or the law.

The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit in California seeking declaratory and injunctive relief from the freshly inked Senate Bill 2 (SB 2), which makes nearly every public place in the state a “sensitive place” and forbids the carrying of firearms even by citizens who have gone through the lengthy and expensive process of obtaining a concealed handgun license. |

The USCCA turned 20 years old this year and to mark the occasion decided to host the annual Concealed Carry Expo a short drive down the road from their HQ in Milwaukee. Members of the organization and the general public alike lined the Baird Center communes and jammed into side rooms for training sessions. Like a lot of expos and gun shows, you could see the latest and greatest from big manufacturers like SIG Sauer and Ruger, but the breakaway sessions and training heightened the sense of purpose for the show. |

The latest 1894 Classic finds itself the third model reintroduction under Ruger’s tutelage, close on the heels of the 1895 in .45-70 Government and the 336 in .30-30 Winchester. |
