"I guess there is some discussion in South Carolina about people getting their permits on-line, and independentmail.com is offering something of a point-counterpoint here. That’s fine; anyone who knows me at all knows that I’m a strong advocate of getting people who disagree with each other to engage in a little palaver. But just when things are going well, you get someone like Michael Staton jumping in . . ." ... |

On Sunday, he came over carrying a pistol he was selling, finger on the trigger. I called him out on it and his response was a shrug and, 'I'm around unloaded guns all the time…'" ... |

"I’ve been looking for an excuse to get a gun from Lou at Business End Customs (BEC) for a while now, ever since Jon at PHLster told me about the awesome job Lou did on his Smith & Wesson M&P. A month or so back I was messing around on Facebook, and I found my reason.
On the Business End Customs Facebook page, I saw a custom Smith & Wesson M&P listed for sale, and about $100 cheaper than it should have been considering all that Lou had done to it. Now, I didn’t need another M&P, and I wasn’t even in the market for another M&P, but I have kind of a thing for them in case you didn’t notice. Long story short, I bought it (sorry Rob)." ... |

"As a high testosterone male I’m not very good at multi-tasking (allegedly). And I’m pretty damn competitive and not a little bit aggressive. A bullseye target is good but a little too . . . intellectual. Let me put it this way: I never hit a golf ball so far or so accurately as I did when the guy in the golf cart shark cage drove onto the driving range. When it comes to shooting I like 'singing steel' (as Nick so eloquently put it in his review of the McMillan Tactical Hunter). So the idea of taking shots at a 3-D self-healing prairie dogs pushes all kinds of buttons for me. I mean just look at the snooty little bastard. ..." |

"I’d bet we have all heard the term 'truck gun' before, possibly in online forums or magazines, and I’ve read quite a few different definitions of what it means… so here’s mine. A truck gun is any gun that you don’t have much attachment to or expectations for, beyond it working every time you pull the trigger."
"Appearances don’t matter; all that matters is that it fits in your truck and fires even if stowed in dusty glove-box or bouncing around the dirt and debris in the floor of your cab. Because of this caveat, I always put the truck gun one step below a beater gun because I have seen some rather attractive guns listed as beaters, but truck guns are usually downright hideous looking. ..." ... |

Whether they are already established and respected industry folk or true up-and-comers all these women have touched lives and will continue to do so. "We often get firearm industry visitors here at NRA HQ, and after our meetings are over, John Zent often asks me to take the group on a tour of the National Firearms Museum. The tour begins and ends with two guns that, in my mind, best signify our freedom and our struggle to preserve it." ...
"The gun I invariably end the tour with wasn’t owned by a king or president. This gun is not lavishly engraved, nor does it mark a major milestone in the development of firearm technology. No, it is a battered, burned .38 Spl. Smith & Wesson J-frame with incinerated stocks, likely vaporized, and a frame and sideplate warped and separated by extreme heat. It doesn’t look like much, but like so many guns in the museum, [the] owner and his story make its value incalculable." ... |

"Jerry Tsai has stepped down as editor of RECOIL. The debate surrounding Tsai’s pre-resignation statements—and all the conversations that will be had about RECOIL in the near and (possibly) distant future—shouldn’t be about one man’s opinions. It should center on larger issues that affect each and every gun owner. As in 'what limits should be put on civilian firearm ownership?' At the end of the day, there shouldn’t be any limits on gun ownership—short of the intent to harm another human being outside of a defensive action . . ." ... |

"Its no secret that I’ve spent a good portion of my nights since graduating college in the back of an ambulance. In fact, there’s no place I’d rather be most nights. But with that position comes a ton of risk, as EMTs are often called to the worst neighborhoods and into dangerous situations in the dead of night with little backup. It sounds like the perfect case for concealed carry on the job, and Virginia’s consideration of removing the state-wide ban on armed EMTs might seem like a step in that direction, but it’s not quite as cut and dried as it you’d think . . ." ... |
