An online auction of the late motorcycle impresario Nikki Lee's estate features such Class 3 weapons, including machine guns, as well as dozens of other handguns and long guns, according to Austin Meidema, president of Byron Center-based SSL Firearms.
About 50 firearms total are available for purchase.
Lee's arsenal was seized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after his suicide last year. Officials were closing in on the performer, who was wanted for bankruptcy fraud and falsifying loan applications. |

The ABA, whose primary purpose is to set academic standards for law schools and propose codes of ethics for lawyers, has never been too fond of the Second Amendment. As early as 1965, the ABA favored restrictive gun control. What is surprising about this resolution, though, is the lack of attention paid to the due process rights of gun owners. In its resolution, the ABA explicitly endorses issuing GVROs ex parte, meaning the constitutional rights of the accused could be stripped without the opportunity to defend himself in court. |

Crossbows can be used to hunt deer and turkey in Illinois thanks to a new state law that was signed last week.
On Friday, Gov. Bruce Rauner signed a bill that amends the Illinois Wildlife Code to repeal restrictions on the use of crossbows during archery hunting seasons. State law previously allowed crossbows for archery hunting only by those ages 62 and older, and by people with disabilities who qualified for a crossbow permit, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The previous law also allowed certain youth hunters to use crossbows. |

Gun owners with a concealed carry permit will soon have a few more places they can bring their firearms in Wyoming County. The county's Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday night to allow gun owners with concealed carry permits to carry in county-owned buildings.
The amended local law excludes police and peace officers, and only applies to buildings not covered under a state or federal law. The county courthouse, jail and all medical centers are among the group covered by at the state and federal level. |

When the Glock 19 was introduced in the 1980s, it set a standard against which other handguns continue to be measured today.
The old-timers mocked it for being a plastic gun and others simply mocked it because there was not anything against which the Glock could be compared. After all, how durable could a gun be if it had a plastic frame? Even the magazines were plastic. So how long would they last?
Yes, those questions and many like them were asked in gun store after gun store about 40 years ago, yet the Glock 19 still stands and has proven to be the gun by which nearly every compact polymer-framed pistol is judged. |

Kansas City police ordered armed antifa groups and others to remove ammunition from their weapons and from their possession at a rally Saturday morning in Washington Square Park.
The armed individuals peacefully complied. Several with the antifa groups said the action violated their rights under state law allowing them to openly carry weapons. They said they planned to fight the order but decided not to take any action at the park.
“We don’t see any merit to fight it now,” said one person who removed ammunition from a rifle under order of the police. |

The defendant in a Des Moines murder case will not be able to use Iowa’s new “stand your ground” law in her defense.
Sera Alexander, 29, is charged with shooting and killing her stepfather, Anthony Hartmann, in her home May 8, but she claims it was a case of self-defense.
District Court Judge Robert Blink released a ruling Tuesday saying the new law that went into effect July 1 does not apply retroactively for the crime committed three months prior. |

Delaware's Supreme Court is weighing a decision in a lawsuit challenging bans on non-hunting firearms in state parks and forests.
After hearing arguments Wednesday, the court is expected to rule within 90 days in a dispute pitting members of the Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Club and the Delaware State Sportsmen's Association against Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and the Department of Agriculture.

A controversial bill that would make it easier to purchase gun silencers was approved by a key House committee Wednesday, setting up a possible floor vote in coming weeks.
It would be the most dramatic move to ease gun restrictions since President Donald Trump came into office, although there is little chance the measure will get through the Senate even if the House approves it.
The Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act, introduced by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), was adopted Wednesday by the Natural Resources Committee on a straight party-line vote. |

Indiana legislators should not eliminate a state law that requires a license to carry a handgun.
A legislative committee met last week to start talking about a proposal to do just that. Similar legislation has failed the past two years.
Most if not all police organizations oppose such a proposal. Law enforcement officials argued at the hearing last week that the current law should be kept in place. |

A LaPlace homeowner fatally shot a man who broke into his house on Tuesday night, authorities said.
Kalvin Ferrygood, a 27-year-old man from Garyville, died at a hospital in New Orleans after he was shot in the abdomen while barging into a home in the 3000 block of Cambridge Drive, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
According to Sheriff Mike Tregre, the homeowner — whose name wasn't released — heard voices in his backyard and opened his rear door about 8 p.m. Ferrygood then entered the house, and the homeowner gunned him down with a .40-caliber pistol in self-defense, Tregre said. |

The Little B Convenience Store clerk who fatally shot an armed robber in June will not be prosecuted, according to an agreement from Lunenburg County Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement and a multi-jurisdictional grand jury.
The shooting occurred June 15 when Milton T. Gaither, 34, of Dinwiddie, attempted to rob the store shortly after 9 p.m.
“Gaither was wearing a mask, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register,” said State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller shortly after the incident. “As Gaither fled the store, shots were fired.” |

The bill to disarm teachers and staff—including school employees who are victims of domestic violence—has passed the last of its legislative hurdles and is now sitting on California Gov. Jerry Brown’s (D) desk.
Breitbart News first reported this effort on May 12, 2017, as Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D) pushed AB 424 with the aim of disarming teachers in the five districts which allow them to carry for self-defense. Lott’s logic is simple: If Republicans worry about voter fraud, and Democrats say that voter fraud doesn’t exist, he proposes, then why doesn’t the United States just use the Democrat-approved National Instant Criminal Background Check System to double-check voting rolls?
