The proponents for campus concealed carry repeat a steady mantra of basically two justifications. They cite the Second Amendment rights of all citizens and the idea that a good guy with a gun is the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun.
First, this is not a Second Amendment issue. Many people opposed to guns on our campuses strongly support the Second Amendment. Several of our rights under the Constitution have limitations, usually to protect the general public. |

A social media campaign by Moms Demand Action and Everytown brought a strong public response from the National Rifle Association last week.
Earlier this month the Bloomberg-backed groups launched the #WhateverItTakes campaign in which participants photograph a picture of themselves holding a card to tell lawmakers how he or she feels about gun violence in America then tweet it with the designated hashtag. The phrase is based on a vow made by Andy Parker, the father of slain Virginia journalist Alison Parker, to urge politicians to pass new gun laws.

Two major firearms rights conferences are on the fall schedule, one unfolding later this month in Phoenix and the other slated Nov. 11-17 in Chehalis, and both events could be worthwhile, considering a lengthy analysis of the left’s differing approaches to gun control Jewish Press.
The article noted that “some U.S. Democratic candidates for president have introduced a new concept of ‘Half Standards,’ in which they actively and happily pursue policies for other countries which are much less rigorous than they expect for Americans.”

Gov. Chris Christie's gradual pivot away from the gun control policies he had advocated as New Jersey governor took its sharpest turn yet Sunday evening on the campaign trail in New Hampshire.
The governor and Republican presidential candidate, while fielding questions from a town hall meeting, took sole credit for keeping the Second Amendment "alive" in New Jersey, which is he said is home to "some of the worst gun laws in America" despite his office voicing support for the state's firearm laws well before he launched his presidential bid.

“You’re either with us 100 percent,” a gun nut told me, “or you’re against us. There’s no in between.”
Well, jeez. In spite of a long history of supporting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to own, use and display firearms as they wish, I now find myself kicked out of the club. All that marching in lockstep with the National Rifle Association and the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine in support of issues like carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, making it legal for employees to have concealed weapons in their vehicles while at work, and allowing the continued sale of semi-automatic weapons and guns with large magazines went for naught. |

Data from the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) indicate that firearm acquisitions set a new record during June, July and August, and are on track to finish the year higher than any year except 2013, when firearm acquisitions soared in reaction to President Obama’s push for gun control.

State Sen. Richard Briggs, R-Knoxville, today said he supports the law permitting guns in parks and will talk with other legislators to see what can be done to enforce the law.
“I see this as another example, just as we are seeing on the national level, of the federal, state and local governments ignoring laws they do not like and enforcing laws they do,” Briggs said. |

Hollywood’s obsession with ramming their immorality down our throats never seems to end.
EuropaCorp has acquired worldwide rights to “Miss Sloane,” Variety has learned.
"The gun control drama was one of the hot packages going into this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and the auction for the picture was highly competitive. The film stars Jessica Chastain and is directed by John Madden of “Shakespeare in Love” fame. Production is slated to take place in 2016." |

Working for the government is not an inalienable right. So Kim Davis, a county clerk in Kentucky, was wrong to refuse same-sex couples marriage licenses in her office. If you’re unwilling to enforce the law, you shouldn’t be an officer of the state. After all, it’s not a clerk’s job to ascertain the constitutionality or practicality of a law. If it were, we’d have anarchy. There are hundreds of other vocations she is free to pursue if this one doesn’t suit her. |

The accessory—called The Alternative—clips onto the slide of a handgun, dangling an alloy ball in front of the end of the barrel. When the officer pulls the trigger the bullet lodges in the ball, launching it at the suspect with less-than-lethal velocity.
According to Gizmodo, “The Alternative… doesn’t interfere with the operation of a handgun in any way once it’s clipped onto the muzzle. The weapon’s sights still work, and other accessories like flashlights can still be attached.” However, Gizmodo does not point out that The Alternative is not snapped onto the handgun until after it has been drawn from the holster in what could be an extremely tense situation. |

Did you ace our first gun sights quiz and want more? Like the first one, this quiz can be pretty difficult without knowledge of a wide array of guns and what their sights look like. To make things fair we left the quiz format in multiple choice and just like the last one, the back of the firearm remains mostly in the frame.
Remember, process of elimination is your friend. Think you’ve got what it takes to get all 12 correct? |

TriStrar Arms is rolling out a trio of single-shot and over-under shotguns for trap shooters that offer a lot of the features of higher-priced break-action shotguns for a lot less. They’re not super-budget guns either, which in this case, is a good thing. These guns are for shooters looking for a competition-ready shotgun that still delivers features.
There are a lot of options for entry-level trap shooters, even bargain bin break-action shotguns, that are intended to get shooters into the sport without a large initial investment. Many of those shotguns aren’t built or expected to last, with thin finishes and weak actions that wear quickly. |

Hakeem Jeffries is pushing for a $60 million funding hike to combat gun trafficking through the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms — going after the so-called iron pipeline that funnels illegal guns into New York.
“The guns used to commit crimes in New York City aren’t manufactured in New York City and they’re not purchased in New York City. They’re coming from states in the deep South, up the I-95 corridor, and from the neighboring state of Pennsylvania,” Jeffries said Monday at a City Hall press conference. |

Here's America for you: guns. Well, we kind of get that already, since so many people fall victims to guns in US these days. However, most of them were carried by people... until now.
Gun wielding drones aren't a completely new thing in the US, since a video that turned viral a month ago, showing a drone shooting a gun in Connecticut, made people realize the possibility of a new sort of gun sport, or better said, gun platform, in the shape of gun-carrying drones. Welcome, the flying guns. |

Ignited by the horrendous shootings in Virginia, President Obama has responded with stricter gun control laws modeled after those of Australia.
“At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency. It is in our power to do something about it,” Obama said in response to the mass shooting in Charleston. |

The original AR, as designed by Eugene Stoner, functions on the gas-impingement system. With this operating system, as the bullet travels down the barrel, it passes a hole in the top of the barrel and some of the gas pushing the bullet is diverted through this hole. The gas is then directed back through a tube and into the upper receiver where it pushes against the gas key on top of the bolt carrier. This pushes the bolt carrier back and cycles the action. |

The American Bar Association (ABA) has filed a new amicus brief opposing a federal court decision in Florida that bars physicians from asking patients about gun ownership or the presence of guns in their homes unless there is a specific medical need to do so.
The outcome of the case is important to physicians across the nation, as a dozen states have introduced laws similar to the 2011 Florida law that was just upheld for the second time by the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. |

The liberal mindset is a wonder to behold. You have to wonder how they got through college without taking at least an introductory course in economics.
The Seattle City Council has come up with an “answer” to the recent spike in gun violence … tax firearms out of existence.
Yep, City Council President Tim Burgess has proposed a $25 tax on all guns and a 5-cent tax on every round of ammunition sold within the Seattle City limits. |
