Each year, our group — meaning, the group of folks who co-own and manage 700+ acres of Georgia hunting land — holds a dove hunt. We till and fertilize fields, plant crops to attract the birds, and go to great lengths to prepare. Sometimes it pays off, and sometimes not. This year, my nephew Ox was able to join me for his second dove hunt. We got to the property the day before the hunt and had a look around — but with scorching summer temperatures, neither of us had much energy after our long drives.

As I write this, the Compton shooter is still unknown, the two Los Angeles sheriff's deputies are still clinging to life, and the Democrat party is failing its Sister Souljah moment — that is, the moment when it must repudiate a failing, unwholesome principle if it is to survive politically. Instead of disavowing the police hatred they fomented, the Democrats are using the shooting to push for gun control.

The Arlington County Board over the weekend voted to ban guns in county buildings, parks and at some special events. The new ordinance was made possible by the Virginia General Assembly, which recently approved legislation allowing localities to adopt certain prohibitions on firearms. Forty people signed up to speak at Saturday’s County Board meeting, some for and some against the proposal. Those for it said county properties would be safer without guns. Those against it said people should be able to exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms and defend themselves, even in a public park or county building.

A Michigan panel rejected two proposals that would have limited guns inside the state Capitol as a debate over the building's lax firearm policy rolled on into a fifth month Monday. However, the Michigan Capitol Commission guaranteed its discussion of the matter will continue as it agreed to meet with Senate Majority Mike Shirkey, R-Clarklake, and House Speaker Lee Chatfield, R-Levering. The meeting will be an attempt to find "common ground" on the subject, said Gary Randall, chairman of the commission.

On July 22, President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr announced the expansion of the Department of Justice’s Operation Legend to Chicago in order to combat the increase in violent crime that has gripped the city in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, rioting, and sustained de-policing efforts. Describing the effort, a DOJ press release noted, “Operation Legend is a sustained, systematic and coordinated law enforcement initiative in which federal law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials to fight violent crime.” The release went on to explain that the move was necessary due to a 51 percent year over year increase in homicides in the Windy City.

The first, ATF Procedure 2020-1, Recordkeeping procedure for non-over-the-counter firearm sales by licensees to unlicensed in-state residents that are NICS exempt (Sept. 3, 2020), provides directions to licensed importers, manufacturers, and dealers (FFLs) on the correct process for the parties to the transaction to take in completing ATF Form 4473 when the transaction involves a sale or transfer to an unlicensed person, resident in the same state as the FFL, who does not appear in person at the FFL’s business premises.

This new gun from SIG is the real deal. It’s not just a bolt-action thrown into a chassis with AR-15 dimensions. The Cross has attained the elusive goal of being a portable mountain rifle (8.5 pounds scoped), with a hefty dose of battlefield DNA thrown into the mix. The stock adjusts every which way for a custom fit, and it folds down so the rifle can be carried in a pack. The three-lug action is snappy and quick. It runs great from the shoulder and is crazy accurate. With few exceptions, this 6.5 Creedmoor was a one-hole gun, shooting nearly all types of ammo in tiny clusters to the same point of impact.

During the early 20th century, to improve upon the rare pre-war Colt Flattop Target Model P, the late Elmer Keith spent a lot of time and money tricking out Single Action Army (SAA) revolvers with adjustable sights. One might think this was what ultimately inspired Colt to come out with a Second Generation target version of its famed Peacemaker years later, but such was not the case.

Gun Controllers Try to Hide Joe Biden’s Anti-gun Extremism

With Fall 2020 upon us it is time again for gun control advocates’ quadrennial tradition – dishonestly attempting to convince voters that a brazenly anti-gun presidential ticket does not pose a threat to gun owners. This year the deception is again being backed by longtime Massachusetts anti-gun advocate and wealthy businessman John Rosenthal. Despite both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s advocacy for gun confiscation and a host of other draconian gun measures, in a piece for Newsweek with the farcical title, “Individual Gun Ownership Is Not at Stake in This Election,” Rosenthal claimed “[p]rivate gun ownership for responsible citizens will remain unchanged” during a Biden presidency.

The cheerful 13-year-old didn’t get a deer on the first day of this year’s youth hunt.

No worries, young Hunter Jumper said.

After all, there’s more to hunting than what you bring home in the back of your pickup truck.

Every September, young hunters take to the forest during Michigan’s annual Liberty Hunt, a two-day deer hunting window for youths 16 and under and eligible hunters with disabilities.

In a sunny patch of woods near Rogers City, Jumper deftly demonstrated the handling of his .30-30 lever-action rifle. The hunter safety class he took recently makes sure young people know how to handle guns safely and protect themselves and those around them, he said.

Former Vice President Joe Biden wasted little time in the aftermath of Saturday’s horrific caught-on-video ambush of two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies to push a gun control narrative that had nothing to do with the attack, the head of a national grassroots gun rights organization has stated.

Biden’s response to the brutal attack on the two deputies—a 24-year-old male and 31-year-old female—was to tweet that “Weapons of war have no place in our communities. We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.”

There have been more than 5 million new gun purchases so far in 2020. A high percentage of the purchases are first-time gun owners. In today’s world people are flocking to obtain their concealed carry license or to have a firearm for home and travel defense. Concerns over the changing political climate, the right to self-defense, the current riots, and pandemic are mostly responsible for the record level of new gun sales. With that in mind, whether you are a first-time gun owner or a veteran of gun ownership, a discussion of “beyond the minimum” gun training is appropriate.

A man who was involuntarily committed to a mental institution as an adolescent, but who has since been shown “free of depression” and “not considered a significant risk” by “multiple psychologists,” is prohibited from ever owning a gun by federal law, an act of deliberate indifference by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals “decided” Thursday. By refusing to consider an earlier panel decision, Thai refugee, and now citizen, Duy Mai will forever be condemned to government infringement of his right to keep and bear arms over a commitment order issued when he was 17 that expired 20 years ago.
