One of the more shocking aspects of last week’s Democratic debate was the cavalier manner in which the Constitution was treated. Beto O’Rourke said he intends to confiscate guns that were legally purchased by law-abiding Americans, and put out a t-shirt to that effect immediately after the debate. Kamala Harris said the same thing, and when Joe Biden pointed out that the government lacks power to do what she proposed, she laughed at him. |

While gun rights activists are burning up social media in the aftermath of Democrat presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke’s on-stage admission that his gun control plan revolved around confiscation of modern sporting rifles, the more alarming part of that dramatic moment for Second Amendment advocates may have been the cheering audience.

Actress and left-wing activist Alyssa Milano has appeared to soften her tune after meeting with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to discuss gun control issues. The two met to talk about how to reduce mass shootings in a way that would not infringe on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. The discussion was “largely amicable,” The Washington Examiner reported. After the discussion, Milano said that Cruz “isn’t a villain.”

If it wasn’t enough to worry about politicians trying to grab our guns, law-abiding gun owners are being run through the wringer as more businesses show their anti-gun colors. While we’ve seen such things before, now companies are redoubling their efforts, as evidenced by a slew of retailers and grocery chains that recently said they’re not going to permit open carry in their establishments—thumbing their noses at state law and the U.S. Constitution.

The White House and Capitol Hill are considering a phone app connected to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System as one of the options in their discussions for plans to reduce gun violence, according to a Senate source and a person familiar with the talks. The proposed app would be used for background checks during private sales and not for purchases involving commercial dealers, one of the sources told CNN. The Washington Post first reported on the app. |

Nebraska’s fall turkey season begins today! The season will run through Jan. 31, 2020, and that makes it one of the longest hunting seasons we have. For the last 20 years, Nebraska’s turkey population has exploded. Even areas with marginal habitat seem to harbor turkeys. To help manage the bulging turkey population, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission allows hunters to purchase up to two hunting permits, and you can harvest two turkeys of either sex with each permit. |

A proposed assault weapons ban would prohibit all semi-automatic shotguns and rifles that are capable of holding more than 10 rounds. State economists say that would affect around 71 percent of rifles and half of shotguns. Charlie Strickland, CEO of Talon Training Group, says it’d be a big hit to his business. |

If you’re a hunter under age 40 you might find this hard to believe, but it’s true. It happened. I was there. So were your parents and grandparents and millions of other energetic hunters who didn’t realize they were living in a golden age. The heyday of upland birds. The era of the American upland hunter.

Just a year or two ago things were looking up for suppressors. With the Hearing Protection Act written and in the legislative works, a semi-friendly House of Representatives and Senate, and the White House seemingly friendly towards signing a bill, things seemed positive for getting suppressors out of NFA jail. No more tax stamps, photos, fingerprints, body probes, and year-long waits just to make your gun run quieter.

When Donald Trump was elected president of these United States — or, more properly, president of the federal government of the United States of America, a distinction worth keeping in mind — some of those who were disappointed by his election declared their intention to, in the now-inescapable word, “Resist.”

Texas State Rep. Briscoe Cain’s inflammatory Thursday night tweet at Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke lit a social media firestorm. Responding to O’Rourke’s oft-repeated “Hell yes, we're gonna take your AR-15” line, a phrase many would consider a threat in and of itself, Cain tweeted his own version of ‘come and take it’ right back at the former Texas congressman: “My AR is ready for you.” While gun grabbers were apoplectic about a perceived “threat” and Twitter obediently deleted the tweet for what it called a violation of its “rules for threats of violence,” Second Amendment supporters came to Briscoe’s defense, calling the phrase well within the bounds of First Amendment protected speech. |

Schools across New York began the academic year with a new tool intended to prevent student suicides and violence: the ability to ask a court to remove a troubled person’s access to firearms. About a third of U.S. states have so-called “red flag” laws, which allow courts to temporarily seize guns from people believed to be a danger to themselves or others, but New York is the first to empower schools to petition a court themselves for such an order, rather than go through local law enforcement. |

Great Britain is home to some of the world toughest gun-control measures, yet a rising spate of recent gun crimes shows that these restrictions are failing to stop criminals and other dishonest citizens from getting their hands on firearms. Gun-control rules are clearly not in control of this situation—which can serve as a lesson for U.S. gun-control advocates seeking to alter our country’s laws with the hazy goal of stopping gun crime.

The popularity of the lead flat nose is hard to beat if you’re looking for a great match shooting round or a general target shooting bullet type. The flat nose makes it easier to see exactly where your bullet penetrated a paper target, which makes for much easier scoring, as the hole is cleaner with less radial tearing. Flat-nosed ammunition tends to have a lighter load of powder, so they don’t often give you the same velocity as their lead round nose bullet cousins. |
