Armed with a search warrant, sheriff's deputies and police officers knocked on the front door but no one answered. They plowed through the door and broke multiple windows to get into the home, only to find the innocent family. Two adults and five children between the ages of 3 and 12 live there.
Submitters note:
This is a problem with night time raids based on information from an informant. Probably two seconds from the time they knocked until they broke in. Fortunately no one was injured or killed (this time), but the potential for someone being killed exceeds the value of these clandestine operations.
Had it been my house, I can pretty much assure you that someone would have been killed, probably including myself. |

The National Rifle Association on Thursday night responded to a political ad showing the Missouri secretary of state assembling an AR-15 rifle blindfolded to illustrate his military bonafides – the group calling the act a “distraction” from his “anti-Second Amendment voting record.”
The statement came in the form of a fact-check emailed to Guns.com that focused on Jason Kander’s statement that he supported the Second Amendment while in the legislature. |

Donald Trump raised eyebrows Friday night by suggesting Hillary Clinton's security detail should disarm itself so the whole world can see what would happen to the Democratic nominee.
"I think her bodyguards should drop all weapons. They should disarm immediately," the GOP nominee said at a campaign stop in Miami, Florida.
"Take their guns away, let's see what happens to her!" he said.
His comments, which were made as he argued a Clinton presidency would lead to the dismantling of the Second Amendment, did not find a warm reception with certain media figures. |

Two most recent examples include the state proposition supported by Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, among others, and the six California gun control laws passed by the state Legislature and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown. Do these examples infringe?
Most certainly.
The “second” enumerated civil right in the Bill of Rights is an “unalienable right” endowed by our creator, not by the federal government and certainly not by the state of California. |

Michael Bloomberg probably realizes he has only so many years left to spread around his enormous fortune to inflate his ego and manipulate every sphere of human activity.
So it was this week that the New York City billionaire came up with a cool $300 million for the School of Public Health that bears his name at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Demonstrating the ex-mayor’s typical hubris, “the Bloomberg American Health Initiative” seeks to increase life expectancy of people in the U.S. by tackling five issues from a “public health” perspective. Squarely in the crosshairs of the effort is the private ownership of firearms.

An assortment of firearms, from antiques and collectibles to the controversial AR-15, will be featured at the Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club’s annual gun show this weekend.
The Sportsman’s Sale and Gun Show, an event that’s been held for more than 30 years, kicks off with the “Saturday Night Special,” an evening of discount pricing on guns. The arms sales session, which runs from 7-9 p.m., features guns from local dealer stock, consignment firearms and private sellers. A second day more geared towards sportsmen follows on Sunday with an array of sporting, fishing, hunting, target shooting, reloading items and firearms. |

California has some of the toughest gun control laws in the nation. But now, voters will decide whether to impose new restrictions on buying ammunition.
Proposition 63 takes aim at ammunition, rather than gun sales and possession, after several high-profile mass shootings rocked the state in the past decade.
The measure bans possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines, and requires most ammunition sales to "be made through licensed ammunition vendors and reported to Department of Justice," according to Ballotpedia. The law also prohibits anyone convicted of stealing a firearm from possessing a firearm. |

“You can’t shoot someone to protect property,” said Forrest Holnbach, a retired CHP officer.
Holnbach, who worked for 26 years with CHP and taught at the Napa Valley College Police Academy, is one of the instructors for the Paradise Ridge Senior Center’s upcoming handgun safety class.
The line between self-defense and manslaughter can be a thin one and property is less valuable than life in the grand scheme of things, Holnbach said. |

Most assume the record-setting gun-sales trend is fueled exclusively by a young generation of enthusiasts. Anecdotal evidence, which includes comments from store owners and the success of an all-new style of shooting ranges often called “Guntry Clubs,” support the claims, but senior citizens are also a growing part of the market. |

A would-be burglar is dead after a homeowner shot and killed him.
Police said a man broke into a house on East Esplanade Avenue near Iroquois Park.
"We never see this happen in the neighborhood, so it was definitely a surprise and shock when that happened," neighbor Jessica Speaks said.
Investigators said the homeowner didn't know the man who broke into his home.
Police said three people, including an older child were at the home.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner. |

With a propaganda machine that only a billionaire can buy, Everytown for Gun Safety and its affiliated organizations continue to spread the falsehood that the anti-gun movement is gaining ground in the state legislatures. As part of this “story of success,” they also attempt to argue that the tide of public opinion is shifting in favor of so-called “common-sense gun reform,” and that a majority of Americans support further restricting a fundamental right.
Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.
One need look no further than Missouri this week where Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of NRA priority legislation – Senate Bill 656 – was overridden by the legislature. |

The Evergreen State is staring down the barrels of Initiative 1491, which would give family members and authorities the ability to petition a judge to temporarily keep a person from purchasing a firearm.
Under the ballot initiative, any person deemed ‘a threat to him or herself and/or others’ could have their firearms seized and future purchases placed on hold for up to a year. This process would be known as the “Extreme Risk Protection Order.” |

Harold Myers’ accusation that the group is an “extremist organization” is grossly ignorant or purposely misleading. Members of San Diego County Gun Owners (SDCGO) include local civic leaders, law enforcement officers, active duty military, veterans, sports enthusiasts and an ever-increasing number of females exercising their rights to protect themselves. I was fortunate enough to attend the SDCGO’s yearly dinner a few months back. The group was so “extreme,” they invited Sherriff Paul Babeu, from Pinal County, Arizona, to address the attendees on the how policy at the Federal level can affect local police work. |

From NPR to the Washington Post, the gun grabbers have tried their hardest to paint themselves to be a victim of a fictional YouTube video. But the gift just keeps giving. Today, someone shared with me an open letter “to the young actress in Never Met Her” from a “common-sense gun law advocacy group” member and self described “feminist.”
In the nearly 2200 word letter, Joana O’Neil analyzes almost every detail of the 3 minute and 22 second film where she draws her own conclusions and attempts to reconcile every ideal in her r-selected brain, all while consoling the actress as if she were a victim of the evil gun culture. |

"Well who used the gun?" the [911] operator said.
"I did," Julian said.
In the background, Garcia's ex-wife screamed: "Why would you do this?"
" 'Cause he charged me and I was in fear of my life," said Julian, then 26.
He said that he needed to call his lawyer. It was 2:05 a.m.
Before Garcia, a 37-year-old father of three, had even been declared dead, the man who shot him was already on the phone with the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.
The association offers a 24-hour hotline, an attorney on retainer, bail money and a wallet-sized card instructing members on what to say after a shooting — starting at just $13 a month. |

“When we got our guns,” Pastor Robert Cook told the CBS News affiliate in Philadelphia, “we hoped we’d never have to use them.” That sentiment, shared by millions of law-abiding citizens who provide for their own safety, unfortunately got tested in the northeast section of Philly last night. While coming back to their residence next door to their church, an armed robber assaulted Cook. His wife, who also has a permit to carry, shot the robber and probably saved the lives of her husband and son. |

The woman told deputies that her husband was not supposed to be in the home; they are separated. He was taken to Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
The wife said she shot her husband in self-defense after her husband lunged at her during an argument and she pulled the trigger.
“It happened. I don’t want anyone to get hurt, but I had to protect myself,” she said.
She is in a vulnerable state from a car wreck earlier this summer; she has a back brace, a knee brace, and a broken spine.
She called 911 while her daughter, who was upstairs, woke up. The daughter said she heard a pop and came rushing to her father’s side. He is now expected to be okay. |
