Now the moderate prime minister wants to fulfill his old election promise by proposing a de facto ban on handguns. It will be illegal to import, sell or transfer ownership of such firearms to Canada from autumn 2022. Violent offenders should automatically lose their gun license in the future, for example in the case of domestic violence or stalking. In the future, Canadian courts may also confiscate the weapons of those who pose a danger to others or themselves. In addition, rifles must be allowed to hold a maximum of five shots, and larger magazines are banned. The government intends to introduce relevant legislative proposals to Parliament in the near future, and there is a good chance that they will get a majority. |

This week I joined Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and 100 Republicans in demanding answers from credit card companies Visa, American Express, and Mastercard over the implementation of a classification of gun sales, to ensure this is not used to track law-abiding gun owners or infringe on their Constitutional rights. To kick off this week’s roundup of Second Amendment news, we’d like to bring to light the latest alarming and blatant attempt by gun control advocates to create a national gun registry—and that is through your credit card companies. In June, Amalgamated Bank petitioned the International Organization for Standardization to create a new firearm specific Merchant Category Code specific to firearm and ammunition retailers. If fully implemented by the various payment processors, the hope of gun control groups for this new MCC is that it would create a registry of gun owners that they have long sought, giving them another tool to attack lawful gun owners when firearms are used in crime. Our friends in NRA-ILA are keeping close tabs on this story. |
TX: Harris County Reports 720 Homicides Last Year, Up 65 Percent From 2018

According to new information from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, the Medical Examiner Service ruled 720 deaths in the county last year were due to homicide.
Data obtained by The Texan shows that the number of homicides in the state’s most populous county has increased each year since 2018 as follows:
2018: 436
2019: 491
2020: 662
2021: 720
The medical examiner reported that as of September 15, there’ve been 491 homicides in 2022, matching the total for all of 2019 but below the monthly pace through this time last year.

Springfield Armory announces the “smallest 1911 in the world” 9mm pistol. Well, it certainly is small, looks great, and appears to have a lot of features. It is similar to the original EMP 3-inch that I reviewed a few years back, but is priced a little lower, is lighter and smaller, has fiber optic but not tritium sights, and has some different features. I specifically selected this 1911 ultra-compact Ronin EMP 3 pistol to review, since I own the original and excellent 1911 EMP 3-inch 9mm pistol. |

After initially having doubts, Layton Police are now believing that a shooting that occurred on September 1 was a case of self-defense.
The two men who were at the center of the dispute were seen fighting over a weapon that lead to the man who was shot, Dustin Acosta, to walk into a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound in the torso.
According to Assistant Police Chief Devin Rogers, one man brandished a firearm at the second man. The first man, Acosta, was the one who was shot and is now suspected of third-degree felony aggravated assault. |

The District of Columbia has gotten rid of its regulation limiting how much ammunition a concealed-carry handgun permit holder may carry after a local resident sued it in federal court.
This marks the second time in under a year that the local government in the nation’s capital city has been forced to amend its gun laws after being sued by Dick Heller, a civil rights activist whose multiple lawsuits have advanced the cause of Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia and throughout the nation. |

This week, Adams’ issued remarks to the National Press Club on the media’s role in holding the gun industry “accountable” for violent crime. In his remarks, Adams claimed that the rise of crime stemmed from “greed” from gun manufacturers, who launched an “aggressive marketing” technique to reach consumers “who have no business owning a gun,” such as minors, criminals and abusers. He claimed that the country has “paid the price in blood” as a result of this. |

A federal judge on Friday declined to combine the four lawsuits currently pending before different judges that challenge the constitutionality of gun restrictions in Boulder County and three of its municipalities.
U.S. District Court Judge Raymond P. Moore, who was assigned the case involving the town of Superior, indicated he wished to see the lawsuits proceed separately. He acknowledged there will now be a possibility of conflicting rulings between various judges about whether the various local ordinances violate the Second Amendment.
But, Moore said, "if anyone thinks the district court is going to have the last say on this, they’re kidding themselves. Come on." |

Hours after fatally shooting a 26-year-old man outside of a bar, the subject was released as Yakima police investigators found substantial evidence to suggest he acted out of self-defense.
According to a release issued by the Yakima Police Department, officers were dispatched to a bar on the 1100-block of S 3rd St for reports of a fight. Callers reportedly told 911 dispatchers that someone had been shot in the confrontation. |

"We have gotten different versions of what was called in to 911 and what she told us happened, and we are trying to sort out what the accurate story is," Sgt. Beall said.

The latest iteration of their obsession is a new end-run against the Second Amendment through the creation of a gun registry, which is prohibited by federal law, and ultimately complete gun control. How? An announcement by the credit card processor Visa revealed they will be adopting a new merchant code created by an international organization to track purchases at gun retailers. Currently, gun and ammunition purchases are listed generically under a code used for sporting goods stores in general, which includes gun retailers. |

Companies selling 80% receivers and other homemade firearm parts have been getting uncomfortable calls and questions from their credit card firms and payment processors. Their ability to process payments could soon end, they’re being told.
Grid Defense, formerly Ghost Firearms, which is located in Daytona Beach, Florida, got a call from their Mastercard payment processor Wednesday.

A slew of historical reenactments in New York have been canceled — because participants are concerned their muskets could run afoul of a new state gun law.
The law, which took effect Sept. 1, prohibits carrying weapons in “sensitive locations” such as public parks, museums, and sports fields, leaving history buffs concerned their black-powder muskets could get them arrested, the Observer-Dispatch reported. |

A jury in King County has found a man not guilty on all counts in connection to a shooting in downtown Seattle that killed one person and injured six others.
The jury of seven men and five women reached their verdicts Thursday after a day of deliberations, finding Marquise Tolbert not guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Tanya Jackson, and six counts of first-degree assault, The Seattle Times reported.
Tolbert, 27, was tried separately from his co-defendant, William Tolliver, who is scheduled to go to trial on the same charges in November. |
