One of the brightest bulbs in the 1911 game over the past half-decade has gone dim following a battle with liver cancer. Ed Brown was born on Dec. 13, 1946, and at age 21 opened his part-time gunsmith concern under the name "Brown's Gun Shop" in Perry, Missouri. As detailed this week by the company that bears his name, "For 20 years on evenings and weekends, he honed his skill, experience, and reputation as one of the world's finest pistol-smiths, while during the day he worked as a tool and die maker, CNC programmer, and CAD/CAM designer." |

A Wayne County judge who brought a loaded, unregistered firearm through security at Detroit Metropolitan Airport earlier this year pleaded no contest Monday before a 34th District Court judge.
Judge Cylenthia Miller was placed on probation for the next 90 days and ordered to pay $1,400 in court costs and fines. If she avoids additional charges over the next three months, according to a court clerk, Miller could have the case removed from her record.
In June, Miller brought a .380 caliber Smith & Wesson firearm into metro airport on her way to a flight to New York.
The gun, the judge told police, was not registered. Her attorney Todd Perkins says Miller has a valid concealed pistol license. |

The bench trial for the challenge to Illinois’ gun and magazine ban continues in East St. Louis. Illinois enacted a ban on semi-automatic firearms and magazines over certain capacities in January 2023. Lawsuits challenging the law in federal court went all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court on preliminary grounds. Justices denied the request, saying they wanted a full case on final judgment. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. — Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318, Foley, Ed., reissued 1967. |
