People with impressive titles tell us all sorts of things. These experts are often wrong. They are either talking outside their area of competence, or they are lying to us. I keep seeing examples like this about gun control. No One Owns Guns Anymore? Only white men living out in the country own guns? We’re killing our school children with assault rifles? The US leads the world in mass murder?
The more I learn, the more I have to trust my own research to be sure I have the truth. This is what I found.

Cracks, pops and bangs pierced the warm fall air Wednesday in Birchwood beneath a brilliant sun. Ted Smith would have liked the sound. The sunshine? Not so much.
"The worse the weather was, the more he liked it," said Anchorage Police Department Chief Justin Doll during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Ted R. Smith Tactical Training Facility for Law Enforcement. "That was really interesting if you were a student."
Smith — a former APD officer and instructor from Eagle River who died in a 2013 plane crash at the age of 59 — was passionate about training and safety.
"He loved anything you could fly, drive or shoot," his family wrote in Smith's 2013 obituary.

Gun rights advocates and activists from across the country will gather this weekend in Chicago for the 33rd annual Gun Rights Policy Conference, timed perfectly to energize the Second Amendment faithful in preparation for the November midterm elections.
Co-sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, the GRPC typically draws representatives from the major national and state-level gun rights organizations from Washington to Florida. This year’s event, according to SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, has already surpassed every other in terms of pre-registrations. The event typically draws hundreds of activists.

The Washington Post is reporting that anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety “plans to spend $8 million to $10 million in Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and New Mexico” to influence the midterm elections, via its “Action Fund.”
That is no the full extent of expenditures by the gun prohibition group’s fund, either. So far in Washington State, the Action Fund has contributed $250,000 to the Initiative 1639 political campaign, and another $59,500 in-kind contribution, according to the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission.

There is a showdown coming in Arizona – and it has Second Amendment implications. No, we’re not talking about the Gunfight at the OK Corral. We’re talking the Senate race between Representatives Martha McSally (Republican) and Kyrsten Sinema (Democrat). In this case, on Second Amendment issues, there is a very clear choice.

The New York State Fairgrounds played host to the New York State Arms Collectors Association’s gun show over the weekend, which drew second amendment supporters and gun enthusiasts. The show has been in Syracuse since 1938. Well over 1,000 tables were set up for the buyers and sellers of the wide variety of guns, ammunition, knives, and more. One of the six directors of the show Doug Roberts says that although most of the transactions are business deals, many of them are historically driven. |

A federal judge ruled last week that the photos of firearms used by a former gun store owner in the windows of his Tracy shop were protected speech ensured by the First Amendment. Tracy Rifle and Pistol was owned by Michael Baryla. In September 2014, inspectors with the Bureau of Firearms within the California Department of Justice fined Baryla for displaying images of certain types of guns in the windows of his store at 7601 E. 11th St. — a violation of California Penal Code 26820, a 95-year-old law. |

The gun control lobby has come up with a new way to convince supporters of the Second Amendment to abandon their pro-gun stance. With the recent spate of high-profile school shootings, the left has reignited its crusade to bring about more anti-gun legislation. So far, the lobby’s tactics seem to have had little impact on overall public opinion. Now, it is trying a uniquely different approach. Gun control activists have designed statues depicting frightened children as a visual tool intended to persuade Americans to reconsider their pro-gun views. Using visuals is an effective persuasion tool, but in this case, it will likely fail. |

A gun club owner and the Second Amendment Foundation are suing Robinson Township and zoning officer Mark Dorsey, alleging that a local ordinance infringes on the club owner's constitutional right to bear arms. William Drummond, GPGC, and the Second Amendment Foundation filed a complaint on Aug. 24, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, against the defendants alleging that they violated the Second and Fourteenth Amendment rights to equal protection, property, and livelihood by "subverting the club's operation." |

A Little Rock police are investigating after a suspect broke into a gun store through the roof of the business but apparently left without taking anything. Police were dispatched to Bullseye Guns and Ammo, located on N. Shackleford Rd., at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday. Once there, authorities noticed the front window on the roof was broken and there was a small hole in the roof that was big enough for a person to enter. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston |
