"Community leaders from Wilmington rallied Tuesday in Rodney Square to support the city police department's controversial practice of taking photographs of people they do not arrest."
"The half-hour rally, attended by about 20 residents, 20 police officers and several elected officials, came a few weeks after the department was criticized by some attorneys and residents for putting the photographs into a database for use in future investigations. The issue garnered national media attention."
"Columbus Linville, vice president of the Browntown Civic Association, said he organized the rally with hopes that it would spur Mayor James M. Baker and the police to continue their efforts to rid the city's notorious drug corners of dealers."
"The police 'jump-out squads' were created in June to combat outdoor drug sales and loitering. Police said Tuesday the squads have arrested 546 people and photographed 112 who were not charged." |

"In another gigantic contradiction, liberals want to disarm law-abiding citizens, for fear the presence of a gun will turn their neighbors into murderers. But when Saddam builds weapons of mass destruction, they advise doing nothing, in the expectation that he won't use them. This crosses the line into irrationality." -------- This article looks at pacifists and liberals concerning Iraq but mentions the gun issue. |

"The father of a schoolgirl killed in the Dunblane tragedy [hereafter known as 'Mr. Police State Puppet'] today warned the UK government it was in danger of undermining the ban on hand guns by failing to restrict the use of air guns."
"Dr Mick North, whose daughter Sophie was killed in the 1996 tragedy, said the positive work achieved by parents was being put at risk by the mass availability of air weapons and imitation guns."
No word on what Mr. Puppet suggests regarding the wide availability of black market firearms, knives, clubs and the like. Maybe he'll clue the world in on these matters -- after he's done using his defenseless dead daughter's blood to make sure everyone else is as victimizable as she was. |

"Stuart Usher’s dispute with Edinburgh-based Brodies was the subject of last week’s Cutting Edge documentary on Channel 4. During the programme, Mr Usher said he sometimes felt like taking his gun into Edinburgh and 'nailing' a few lawyers."
"Mr Usher was visited at his home near Jedburgh yesterday by two officers from the Lothian and Borders force. They told him that a complaint had been made as a result of the comments he had made in front of the cameras and he was asked to hand over his weapon and licence."
"He said: 'For a moment I thought about telling them to get lost, but I knew there would be a hoo-ha if I did.' "
"Mr Usher was the founder of the Scotland Against Crooked Lawyers pressure group and makes no secret of his vitriolic dislike for the legal profession."
"He said yesterday: 'What I said is absolutely true. I would like to nail a few of them. As a profession, I think they are inherently dishonest and motivated only by self-interest. But as a law-abiding man, there is no question I would ever act out the fantasy.' " |

"The NRA sued Albemarle County's school system Tuesday, accusing administrators of violating a 12-year-old boy's free speech rights by forcing him to turn his NRA T-shirt inside out."
"Alan Newsom, 12, wore the purple 'NRA Sports Shooting Camp' shirt, which featured silhouettes of three target shooters, to sixth grade at Jack Jouett Middle School in April. The school's vice principal noticed the shirt and told him to turn it inside out because the images of people shooting guns violated school policy, Alan's father, Fred Newsom, said Tuesday."
" 'The T-shirt clearly depicts individuals involved in shooting sports. The images are in no way inappropriate or violent. This is a blatant infringement of young Alan's constitutional rights,' Wayne LaPierre said."

"Over 1,500 Sauk Centre youths will attest to the patience of Vic Wiener as he assisted in gun safety instruction classes over 40 years. During a recent ceremony at the armory in Sauk Centre, Wiener was given the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource's 40-year award for his efforts by Conservation Officer Dave Rodahl, a DNR representative."
"Years back, Wiener, who was working at the Walker Chevrolet garage at the time, was asked by his brother-in-law, Ken Sunderman, if he would assist him in conducting the accredited classes for young people ages 12-16. He has been with the program ever since, the last 28 years under the direction of Roger Beuning."
"Other instructors helping in the program currently are Mike Denny, Paul Post, Rob Wiener, Gary Gamradt, and others."
" 'In a nutshell we teach them two things--how to handle a gun, and how to shoot it,' said Wiener. 'There are 10 hours of training over a span of two-hour weekly sessions.' " |

FULL TEXT BELOW... ------- COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- "The Army is reportedly investigating whether soldiers, including members of the Colorado National Guard, illegally sent foreign weapons home from Afghanistan."
"U.S. Customs agents found about 50 guns in shipping containers at Dover Air Force Base, Del., in late August, Marc Raimondi, spokesman for the Army's Criminal Investigation Command, told The Gazette of Colorado Springs in Wednesday's editions."
"At least some of the weapons were found in containers belonging to members of Pueblo-based Bravo Company of 5th Battalion/19th Special Forces Group, the newspaper reported, citing anonymous Army sources."
"The Bravo Company, part of the Colorado National Guard, has been in Afghanistan since last fall. Some of its roughly 60 soldiers have returned to the United States."
"After a deployment, soldiers typically send back their gear and personal items in large containers on Air Force cargo planes. Every container coming from Afghanistan is searched, Raimondi said."
"Soldiers can bring foreign weapons back for training and as keepsakes but they must get their commanders' approval and fill out paperwork."
"Raimondi declined to say what paperwork the soldiers completed. He would only say the investigation into whether proper procedures were followed is continuing."
" 'It could be a paper trail. It could be criminality,' he said. 'That's what the investigation is for.' "
"The Criminal Investigation Command is conducting the investigation along with Customs and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms." |

"This is a transcript of Rep. McKinney's remarks on September 14 at the reception for the Congressional Black Caucus."
Look past her "us vs. them" racist attitude to see the value in some of what she's saying, which includes:And after I've asked the tough questions, here's what we now know:
• That President Bush was warned that terrorists were planning to hijack commercial aircraft and crash them into buildings in the US; • That in the weeks prior to September 11, 24-hour fighter cover was placed over the President's ranch in Crawford, Texas; • That in the weeks prior to September 11, Attorney General Ashcroft stopped flying commercial aircraft and instead flew Government aircraft; • That the US received numerous high level warnings from a wide range of foreign intelligence services warning of impending hijackings and terrorist attacks; • That a number of FBI agents were pleading with their superiors to conduct intensive investigations into the suspicious activities of various men in US flight schools; • That in the days prior to September 11, highly suspicious stock market activity in aviation and insurance stocks took place indicating that certain well-placed people had advance knowledge of the attacks. |

ORIGINAL TEXT: "Women march together" ------- " 'Make yourself heard' was the motto of Wednesday night's Take Back the Night march on the CU campus."
"About 150 women gathered to break the silence about sexual assault in a rally against sexual violence at the UMC's Dalton Trumbo Fountain."
"Along the way, marchers shouted out slogans such as 'Women unite, take back the night' or 'What do we want? -Safe streets! When do we want it? - Now!' "
That works great when you've got 149 friends with you -- but what will you do when you're all alone and some burly guy with a knife forces himself on you? Screaming "take back the night" may not quite do the trick -- not like a .45 caliber bullet hole in his chest, anyway.
"Marchers stopped along the route to honor victims of sexual assault," as if being a victim is honorable.
"There should be more educational programs," said one male college student. Indeed -- firearms and self-defense education.
" 'Men on this campus should take accountability that most rapes are done by men,' speaker Laura Reinsch, from CU's Feminist Student Network, said."
Got that, guys? It's your fault these gals refuse to arm and protect themselves.
People around here naturally know better -- including the armed women among us who'd put a would-be rapist in the hospital or the morgue about one second after he attacked.
It's noteworthy that this lovefest took place in Colorado -- where women are required by law to be defenseless and will be thrown in jail, usually by male cops, if "caught" carrying a firearm to avoid being sexually assaulted.
These "Women will rule this earth soon" feminists -- that quote comes straight from the article -- typically oppose an armed citizenry, revealing a deep, rapist-empowering self-loathing.
