"It would be a hopeful sign if the Senate could get away from its obsession with abortion on demand and consider, during its Supreme Court confirmation hearings, what the Constitution is and what it isn't."
"Some people seem to be under the erroneous belief that the Constitution grants us our rights. It does no such thing. To understand the Constitution, you have to remember the Declaration of Independence, which preceded it by several years. It is the Declaration that contains the philosophy of the American Revolution. The Constitution merely implements that philosophy." ... |

"But Carolynne Jarvis, of the Michigan Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence, feels somewhat betrayed by the deadly force legislation. She opposed a 2001 state law that made it easier to get a license to carry a concealed weapon when the rationale of proponents was that guns would only be used as a last resort."

Gun control advocates want to stop Michigan legislators from passing a law allowing people to use deadly force to defend themselves without fear of prosecution.
The bills were introduced this month in Michigan.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the Million Mom March are calling lawmakers in an attempt to keep the bills from getting out of the House Judiciary Committee.
The battle in Michigan over the so-called deadly force legislation is an important one for both sides.
It could open the doors to similar laws across the country, a top priority for the National Rifle Association, or stop the effort in its tracks. |

"Welcome to Massachusetts - you're more likely to be indoctrinated by liberal lies here."
"Returning students like myself are probably familiar by now with the billboard I'm referring to, located on the Massachusetts Turnpike near Fenway Park. The propaganda, put up by Stop Handgun Violence (SHV), a non-profit organization based in the Newton office of the Meredith Management Corporation, reads, 'Welcome to Massachusetts. You're more likely to live here. Most effective gun laws and lowest gun fatality rate in the country. Gun laws work.' If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth taking a look. That massive billboard could be one of the biggest lies you'll ever see." ... -------
Submitter's Note: Actually, according to the CDC's WISQARS website, Mass. does have the lowest firearm death rate in the country. But since Washington DC has the highest rate (at almost 9 times the Mass. rate) it sort of shoots down the whole "strict gun laws" theory. |
