Vendors who were there say women are buying more guns, hunting and participating in the shooting sport.
Stan Davis is the owner of S&R Gun Sales. He attends the gun show in Florence in the spring and fall. However, this year he’s noticed a difference in people who are buying guns.
“I have seen an increase in ladies, coming in and buying small arms for themselves, getting signed up for CWP classes,” Davis Said.

We are in a cultural conflict where freedom is under attack on many fronts. I chose to talk about self-defense. Self-defense should be more than a right we reluctantly tolerate.
Self-defense is actually a virtue we should support. In this culture war, people who love liberty should advocate for a better culture rather than sit passively as they lose their liberties one at a time. What would we do if we really valued self-defense?
Here are more tactics in our culture war for the virtue of self-defense. |

On September 18, 2015 Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump released a position paper on gun policy in which he stated, “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed…period.”
Trump explained that our Founding Fathers protected Second Amendment rights in this way because the sanctity of all other fundamental rights rests on the existence of a people who are free and therefore armed. |

The specific issues raised by GOA was our reference calling the group “controversial” because of connections and alleged connections to hate groups. The group penned an open letter to Guns.com — but never actually sent it to Guns.com — claiming inaccuracies.

On September 18, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that four of Washington DC’s gun registration requirements are unconstitutional.
The plaintiff in the case District of Columbia v. Heller was Dick Anthony Heller, who prevailed in 2008 when the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) struck down DC’s gun ban. In that same year, Heller filed suit against DC’s “gun registration scheme”—claiming it was “inconsistent with the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.” |

According to new research by Duke University and the University of Chicago, criminals are far more likely to acquire guns from family and people they know than by theft.
“There are a number of myths about how criminals get their guns, such as most of them are stolen or come from dirty dealers. We didn’t find that to be the case,” said Philip J. Cook, professor of public policy, economics and sociology at Duke Sanford School of Public Policy.

The concept of a “gun culture” is an interesting notion.
The phrase is frequently used, most often negatively by anti-gun activists but it’s also been adopted as a positive description of values by many gun owners.
What is it, and what does “culture” have to do with guns? |

Every day when you turn on the TV news there seems to be at least one story of a shooting even in small states like Iowa. Often that is about the last we hear of the victims. In our short attention span society today’s victim is soon replaced by tomorrow’s victim. We don’t hear of the grieving family left behind if the victim dies – the spouse, the children, the parents who must suddenly cope with a shattered life. |

From 1981 to 2013 the U.S. added 195 million privately owned firearms and the firearm-related suicide rate fell by five percent.
This is significant when one considers that firearm-related suicide is actually the category that drives gun violence numbers used by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the various gun control groups funded by Michael Bloomberg. In fact, “with firearm murder and firearm accident death rates…at historic lows,” Bloomberg’s Center for Gun Policy at John Hopkins University has set it sights on pushing gun control as a solution to suicide.

FL: Republican lawmakers fighting to give licensed gun owners the right to carry on state universities earned their first two victories last week as House and Senate committees approved bills that would allow permitted students to take their guns to class.
The issue is being hotly debated, as it has in at least three previous years when bills died. That includes earlier this year in the wake of a shooting spree at Florida State University that left three people injured and the gunman dead.

For a group that became a regular object of protests following the 2012 Sandy Hook shootings, the grant is an indication it’s beginning to come in from the cold.

Kim Norton (D-Rochester) isn’t planning on running for re-election, so has decided to spend her last days in public service pushing for expensive, idiotic, nanny-state, feel-good measures which she knows won’t pass. As stated in the Rochester Post-Bulletin piece Norton to push for stricter gun laws in final term: “Fed up with gun violence, retiring Rep. Kim Norton said she plans to introduce a package of ‘common sense’ gun law changes during her final legislative session.”

ELP I could understand. I reckon NASA should have sent Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s Karn Evil 9 to the aliens via Voyager. OK, the British rock trio isn’t an appropriate topic for NRA PR. But neither are electro-magnetic pulses. Don’t get me wrong: I get it. EMPs threaten to destroy our power grid at a stroke and throw America into chaos, as X-Box deprived teenagers suddenly discover this thing called “outside.” (Note: they won’t like it.) In the aftermath, guns will be extremely handy, one way or another.
