Bottom line: Can our lawmakers wage a war against terrorism in the name of protecting freedom and at the same time make sure that very freedom is not diminished at home by measures of our own government. |

Homeland defense. Rather than creating another multizillion-dollar nightmarish agency which will NEVER go away, which will expand the police powers of the state, why not INSTEAD empower the citizenry to do what the founders originally intended? |

A prominent characteristic of America today is the quest for total freedom from risk. This quest is doomed to failure ... Risk is an unavoidable feature of life.
Airliners were made "gun-free zones" to reduce the risk of violence. But what about the risk that without armed sky marshals or crew, the way is clear for terrorists? If we don’t allow passengers to protect themselves, and if we don’t protect them either, who is responsible for the risks they incur? |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. — JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821) |
