It is said—often—that we “don’t feel recoil in the field.” Yeah, well, adrenaline may dampen it a bit, but I’ve never again uttered that phrase since one fine evening in the Zambezi Valley. Light was fading as we closed on a group of elephants, and my buddy missed the brain shot. Hey, easy to do in good light, let alone with open sights at dusk. I was carrying his double .600 Nitro Express, and of course I was itching to use it, so I thought, “Good deal!” as I stepped forward to take the going-away hip shot. |

If you asked military, law enforcement, and “regular Joe” shooters in the late 1970s if they’d trust their lives to a gun that made extensive use of plastics, they would have likely laughed you out of the room.
Here in 2015, plastic-frame guns dominate law enforcement and commercial sales, and are popular in military units both domestically and overseas. |

In the realm of competitive shooting, Smith & Wesson revolvers have enjoyed a long reign at the top of the podium. While the Ruger GP100 family of revolvers has received minor self-defense-oriented refinements in recent years, the newest offering in the company’s wheelgun lineup, the GP100 Match Champion, serves not only as a departure from the norm, but also a welcome economic alternative to its more established competitors. |

Following the flawed Supreme Court’s decision in Heller — District of Columbia v. Heller — virulent anti-gun members of D.C.’s city council enacted “every gun restriction they could find from every other state and gave them to us as thumbtacks on the road to our march to Second Amendment freedom,” according to plaintiff Dick Heller. |

The latest notable gun killings (as opposed to the daily carnage now routine in our cities) struck close to home. The gunshots last week echoed in the halls of a university campus, spreading terror throughout Delta State University in Mississippi.
This time one professor shot another educator. It was not a case of an alien killer dropping in from hell to cause havoc. It was simply an angry man shooting another, which can happen anywhere a gun is present. |

In regard to The World newspaper on Wednesday, Sept. 16, AP article, "Advocates hope recent wins signals change." As usual the left-wing press lies by omission, distorts facts, and in some cases flat out lies!
In the article they say gun rights supporters were unable to gather enough signatures to force recall elections for the bills supporters. I do not believe this is correct! |

New Jersey Democrats are shopping for enough votes to power through gun legislation despite a veto from Republican Gov. Chris Christie last month.
In August, Christie torpedoed a measure that would have added steps to those seeking to clear certain mental health records for the restoration of gun rights. The bill would have required individuals looking to erase old mental records so that they could legally purchase firearms first notify the state attorney general’s office and others of their efforts. |

Call me old fashioned but I think most would agree that Salinas City Councilman Jose Castañeda’s “story” that he doesn’t know where his gun is borders on the preposterous.
No, I take that back. It is preposterous.
We know that there is a record of him registering a handgun with the state in 1999.
