If they can cherry pick, so can I. How about: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary for the security of a free state…shall not be infringed.” Or, even simpler: “A well-regulated militia…shall not be infringed.”
Which of these do you think best reflects the thinking of the authors? (Hint: you can pick two out of three).
So, three cheers Madam Governor! You have the cojones that these so-called real men lack. Keep it up! You can do gun safety other ways: There’s no reason you can’t require safety training, licensing, high – really high – taxes on guns. And liability insurance. Don’t quit now! |

The Governor didn’t do anything new by seeking to temporarily ban firearms in a dangerous situation. Many consider the Old West to be the heyday of guns, but when the notorious Dodge City Kansas formed as a community in 1878, the first law passed was one prohibiting the carrying of guns in town. In 1840, the State of Alabama shot down (pardon the pun) an effort to overthrow a state-wide gun ban. An Alabama court ruled that the state had a right to dictate when and where its citizens were allowed to carry firearms.

The people of New Mexico — and, we fear, the people of the United States — owe Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina a real debt of gratitude.
Medina has stated unequivocally that his department will not enforce an unconstitutional “emergency order” by Michelle Lujan Grisham, the governor of New Mexico, to suspend the right of her constituents to lawfully carry firearms. |

“We’re focused less on saying ‘gun owner vote for A, B, or C,'” Baney told The Reload. “Instead, we’re saying, here are the critical policies; here are the tools and resources necessary for you to make the decision on who you think is best to vote for.”
She said the goal is to build a “2A citizens army.” That’s not an uncommon mission among gun-rights groups. But USCCA’s scale, with over 800,000 paying members, makes it a more realistic short-term goal in the race to shore up the movement as the NRA shrinks in the face of mounting financial and legal issues. |

Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced the filing of a reply brief with the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in its Gray v. Jennings and Graham v. Jennings lawsuits, which challenge Delaware’s “assault weapon” and standard capacity magazine bans, respectively. The brief can be viewed at FPCLegal.org.
“Delaware’s law banning firearms and ammunition magazines possessed by millions of Americans is flagrantly unconstitutional,” argues the brief. “Under binding Supreme Court precedent, the law-abiding citizens of this country have an absolute right to possess arms that are in common use. Arms possessed by millions easily meet that description.” |

In an exclusive report, Fox News reveals that Senator Mike Braun and fourteen other GOP leaders have introduced a new bill called the Protecting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms Act of 2023. This bill aims to prevent the White House from declaring gun violence a national health emergency in order to enact strict gun control measures.
The introduction of this bill comes in response to Democratic New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s recent attempt to impose a 30-day prohibition on carrying guns in public areas and state-owned properties in Albuquerque. Governor Grisham justified this action by referring to gun violence as a public health crisis. |

The resolution, presented by Sheriff Shane Ferrari, was adopted by a unanimous vote during the commission’s Sept. 19 meeting in Aztec. |

A man was sentenced to 180 days in county jail Thursday for illegally possessing a gun he used to shoot and kill a man who was attacking him with a knife.
Authorities say that on July 25, Eloy Lobato Jr. shot and killed Christopher Brito following an altercation between the two at a Valero gas station in the 6900 block of Atlantic Avenue. It remains unclear what sparked the altercation.
Lobato fled the scene that day, but was later taken into custody on suspicion of murder and prohibited possession of a firearm by a felon. |

I’ve always had an outsized fascination with teeny-weeny guns. I guess it’s primitive human intrigue at something which can inflict such tremendous damage and project power far in excess of its meager size. The smaller a gun gets, the more fascinated I become. This is one of many reasons I dearly love the smallest of the small, as exemplified by the North American Arms (NAA) micro-revolvers. |

In the meantime, it would be wonderful to see the same level of gusto Republicans have for Biden’s alleged disregard for gun laws applied to everyone who wants to but shouldn’t possess a firearm.
Where was the GOP outrage when a then-17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse used an AR-15 type to kill two men in 2020 during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin? Being under 18, it was illegal for him to possess a rifle. Prosecutors refused to try Rittenhouse on the possession charge,, and he was acquitted of all murder charges after claiming self-defense. The 18-year-old who bought the weapon Rittenhouse used made a deal with the district attorney that allowed him to avoid jail time. |

President Biden handed gun-control activists another win on Thursday.
The Biden administration formally announced the creation of the first-ever federal office of gun violence prevention. The White House said the office, which will be overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris (D.) and led by prominent gun-control advocates, will “focus on implementing executive and legislative action” to “end the scourge of gun violence in America.” Stefanie Feldman, a longtime policy advisor to President Biden on gun issues, will serve as the office Director. |

A national gun rights group has appealed an August decision by a federal court judge in New Haven, denying a request to halt Connecticut’s ban on assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
The National Association for Gun Rights has asked the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York to review a decision by U.S. District Court of Connecticut Judge Janet Bond Arterton, declining to issue a temporary injunction to bar the enforcement of Connecticut firearm policies adopted in the wake of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. |

Beginning in October, the firearm detection technology will be installed on 500 of the approximately 1,000 cameras on EMU’s campus.
Once the system is operational, each camera with the software will have the ability to detect firearms within its view. If a firearm is detected by the AI, an alert is sent to the 24/7 staffed ZeroEyes headquarters for authentication. If authenticated, an image of the detected firearm would be sent to EMU Department of Public Safety (DPS) for immediate response.
Lige said this system will support first responders in more quickly identifying and mitigating potential threats to campus safety. |

he outcome of an indictment against the president's son over a gun-related charge could rest on a Supreme Court ruling on whether the Second Amendment affords drug addicts the right to bear arms.
Hunter Biden was indicted on September 14 in Delaware on three counts relating to his alleged unlawful possession of a Colt Cobra revolver while using and being addicted to a narcotic substance, which carry a combined maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Backdoor gun-control laws and regulations are often promoted as public-safety measures, as if criminals will heed new laws that limit places for concealed carry, require “safe storage” of firearms or create magazine-capacity limits. Anyone with a little common sense could tell you that only the law-abiding follow these kinds of laws.
Gun-control-promoting politicians and the groups that back them like these burdensome regulations because they know many good citizens will respond to them by giving up on exercising their Second Amendment rights, as they don’t have the time or money to deal with fees, paperwork, complicated regulations and frightening legal traps, such as overly broad “sensitive-place” restrictions. |

While people have long had the federal right to build their own firearm in the United States, that’s historically required buying parts from manufacturers and a good deal of assembly. In some states, it’s perfectly legal to build your own untraceable AK-47 with just a few hours of effort, a sandblaster, and some drills. But you’d nevertheless still need to purchase the individual parts and the know-how to put it all together. Or, with a 3D printer and some downloaded code, you can make all the parts at home. |
