While owning a gun isn't for everyone, the prospect of carrying a gun when outside of the home is for an even smaller subset of the population. Keeping with that mantra, toting around a gun in your pocket is not for everyone. Some will advocate against it, full stop, while others have successfully used the method for years and it is their primary method of carrying. First of all, even though pocket carry has been a very real thing for generations, so have negligent discharges. With that critical safety factor in mind, always use a purpose-designed holster when electing to pocket carry as this keeps the gun's trigger protected and the action cleaner while also orienting the grip for a better presentation. |

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refused on Sept. 10 to rehear a case seeking to restore the Second Amendment rights of Duy Mai, a man who was involuntarily committed as a juvenile in 1999, despite considerable evidence of sound mental health since that time, Washington State’s willingness to restore his rights, and ardent dissents from several of the court’s judges. Mai is “another innocent casualty of this court’s demonstrated dislike of things that go bang,” wrote Judge Lawrence VanDyke in his dissent. “Show me a burden—any burden—on Second Amendment rights, and this court will find a way to uphold it.” |

On Monday, September 14th, the Capitol Commission voted 4-2 against a proposal to ban all firearms from the Capitol and 3-3 against a proposal to ban open carry at the Capitol. While this is a temporary victory for Second Amendment rights, the commission did agree to discuss the topic again after meeting with House and Senate Leadership, and left open the possibility of holding a special meeting solely to decide the matter. |

The Liberal Gun Club's membership climbed 24 percent in 2020, the result of a wild year that has seen an estimated 5 million new gun owners clamor to brick-and-mortar stores and online retailers for firearms. In addition to experiencing a surge in membership, LGC saw a 20 to 30 percent increase in social media followers. LGC's National Spokesperson Lara Smith said the organization's core membership is comprised of "left-of-center" gun owners who consider the right to own guns "essential to their sense of freedom." Smith said the group is dedicated to providing left-leaning gun owners a place to gather, learn, and discuss firearms topics. |

Nearly 40 Virginians have had their firearms seized — some permanently — after the state instituted a red flag law on July 1, according to a report. Virginia judges issued 26 temporary and 10 permanent orders in July and August, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Under the red flag law, the orders allow police to confiscate a person’s legally-owned firearms for a two-week period if the subject of the investigation is deemed a threat. |

Respect for the Second Amendment should not be a partisan issue. The vast majority of Americans understand this fact. After all, the Constitution is not a partisan document. Before the U.S. Supreme Court recognized that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms in District of Columbia v. Heller, a February 2008 Gallup poll found that 73 percent of Americans possessed this understanding of the Constitution while a mere 20 percent had the incorrect collective-right interpretation. This wide-ranging respect for the Second Amendment holds. According to a November 2019 Rasmussen poll, a mere 24 percent support repealing the Second Amendment. |

Max Michel won the Overall Championship title at the USPSA Area Championship, held Sept. 13, marking the first time a Carry Optics Division shooter took home the overall win. Michel, Team Sig's Captain, competed with a P320 XFive Legion topped with Sig Romeo3Max red dot. It's worth noting the Romeo3Max optic was developed by Michel. His setup was paired with Sig's own branded 147-grain, Match Elite 9mm Competition Ammo. Michel said COVID-19 restrictions allowed him to focus on shooting this year and the extra practice time paid dividends. |

Pointing to a presidential candidate who has vowed to bring down firearms manufacturers, along with “riots and civil unrest,” a lack of police response, the uncertainty stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and talk of mandatory buybacks, the head of the National Shooting Sports Foundation says Americans have been rushing to gun shops in record numbers.
NSSF President Joe Bertozzi explained it during a presentation over the weekend for the “virtual” Gun Rights Policy Conference. |

Not all black guns are semi-autos or even bolt-actions. The Marlin Dark trades classic walnut and rich bluing for noir-furniture with more practical finishes and accoutrements. The 1895 Dark is like the standard production model is many ways, including internals, though the changes on the Dark variant are both visual and practical. |
