Did you know that through self-imposed fees and excise taxes, sportsmen and women have raised more than $57 billion—that’s more than $100,000 every 30 minutes being raised for conservation? That is why NRA Women is proud to celebrate National Hunting & Fishing Day! The fourth Saturday of every September has been designated NHFD, which recognizes generations of sportsmen and women for their contributions to the conservation of our nation’s rich sporting heritage and natural resources. See more ways to celebrate here. |

For several reasons, the 357 SIG vs 9mm debate is not often thought of, even though the 357 SIG has some of the most devout supporters in the shooting community.

We leave the store just after lunch and head for the covers. We still have an hour to drive, and in the distance, the great New England mountains loom. We drive through towns we know from history books. They are all the same, with their brick-front buildings, coffee shops and diners; their central squares proud with monuments. Small towns where everything is known, wrote the poet Robert Lowell. I am struck by the resistance here to becoming like other places. We are back in time. Ahead of us still, more of the same. There is snow already on the peaks, and it’s only October. |

A quiet trend has begun in firearm industry and, judging by the response, the approach could quickly spread. While more and more gun companies are holding highly successful free events that provide fans a chance to take their latest models for a short “test drive” at a range, a pair of precision-rifle companies have launched something very different. |

Today we are looking at the Taran Tactical Innovations (TTI) and V Seven Weapon Systems collaboration rifle, the Harbinger 308 Rifle. This is an ultra-light build designed to be, in my humble opinion, the ultimate do-it-all, end of the world gun. However, we are not just reviewing this rifle, we are also giving it away! Thanks to the partnership between Guns.Com and Veteran-Owned Small Business, Get Entered to Win, this very rifle could be yours.

While Oregon gun owners are in a bitter fight to protect their rights, 1,800 miles and four states to the east, voters in Iowa will consider amending their state constitution to include a codified right to keep and bear arms.
Presently, the Hawkeye State does not have a right-to-bear-arms provision. It is one of a handful of states without that important tenet in its state constitution, but that could change Nov. 8. Gun rights advocates across the country will be watching the vote closely. |

The Pentagon has announced that Mississippi-based Olin-Winchester is the winner of a large contract to supply the military with 7.62 NATO ammunition. The U.S. Army Contracting Command at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, last week announced Oxford, Mississippi-based Winchester was awarded a $14,285,600 contract to manufacture 7.62 small-caliber ammo. The funds in the full amount were drawn from the Army's Fiscal 2022 ammo procurement budget, set to expire in October.

There’s no denying that the pairing of the AR-15 platform and the 223 Remington is an exceptional match. The 223’s flat trajectory and low recoil is great for varmint hunting, plinking, and target shooting; however, it lacks the kinetic energy needed for taking down larger animals like whitetail and hogs.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
