According to the Home Safety Council, "the leading cause of fatalities and injuries resulting from home injuries was falls, with 6,750 deaths and 5.6 million injuries. Next for fatalities was poisonings with 5,750 deaths, and for injuries it was being cut, pierced or stabbed by a sharp object -- totaling 1.7 million."

Not a word about firearms in this detailed description of home safety dangers. Maybe the Brady Bunch should boycott these evil statistic analysts for their failure to report statistically insignificant information.

"Dr. Bob Rajcoomar, a U.S. citizen and former military physician from Lake Worth, found himself handcuffed and taken into custody last month in one of the many episodes of hysteria to erupt on board airliners in the United States since the Sept. 11 attacks."

"Rajcoomar was seated in first class on a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Philadelphia on Aug. 31 when a passenger in the coach section began behaving erratically. The passenger, Steven Feuer, had nothing to do with Rajcoomar."

"Two U.S. air marshals got up from their seats in first class and moved back to coach to confront Feuer, who was described by witnesses as a slight man who seemed disoriented. What ensued was terrifying. When Feuer refused to remain in his seat, the marshals reacted as if they were trying out for the lead roles in Hollywood's latest action extravaganza."

"There were no terrorists on board. There was no threat of any kind. When the plane landed about half an hour later, Feuer was taken into custody. And then, shockingly, so was Rajcoomar. The air marshals grabbed the doctor from behind, handcuffed him and, for no good reason that anyone has been able to give, hauled him to an airport police station where he was thrown into a filthy cell."

"A spokesman offered the absurd explanation that Rajcoomar was detained because he had watched the unfolding incident 'too closely.' If that becomes a criterion for arrest in the U.S., a lot of us reporters are headed for jail."

"Dutch policemen will be taken off the beat unless they can prove they can fight in new tests."

"Rank and file police officers fear up to 20% of the country's 33,000-strong force could fail the combat tests."

"They have been introduced after repeated criticisms of police officers for backing down from violent criminals."

"Previously, officers had to prove only that they were competent with firearms to show they were up to the job."

"But now they have to show they are also skilled at hand-to-hand combat and at arresting violent offenders. They are being given special training to help them."

"Hans van Duijn, secretary general of the Dutch police trade union, told De Telegraaf: 'We know that from the 33,000 policemen in Holland, a lot will fail.' "

" 'If they do not succeed in their exam, they have to return their weapons and perform a desk-task. Nevertheless I think it will be a very good thing to have this training. It will improve their self confidence.' "

"A close reading of Emory's 'Policy and Procedures for Investigation of Misconduct in Research,' with especial attention to those provisions which apply to the appeal process..., indicates that a final disposition of the Bellesiles Case is not very far off. Such a reading also seems to suggest -- though the Emory jury is still out, and given the nature of juries one must always expect the unexpected -- that, as [an] anonymous Emory professor predicted months earlier, 'Bellesiles is toast.'"

"Seventeen-year-old restrictions on NYPD political investigations must be lifted to aid the war against terrorism, city officials said yesterday."

"The Corporation Counsel's office filed papers in federal court seeking to ease the so-called Handschu Agreement, which requires police surveillance of political groups to be monitored by a secret, three-member authority."

"Under the city proposal, the authority - established in 1985 in the settlement of a lawsuit filed against the police - would deal with complaints about police political investigations, but would no longer regulate or veto such probes."

"The Handschu Agreement evolved from a 1971 lawsuit over police surveillance of Black Panther Party members."

Bear in mind this happened in Ohio, where law enforcement leadership and many legislators oppose armed self-defense for "regular people."
-------
"A store security guard returning from his morning trip to the bank shot and killed a man who police said tried to rob him Wednesday."

"A second robbery suspect fled to nearby woods but was captured."

"Police say the private, certified security guard, Bayard Betleyoun Jr., acted properly."

These same police officers would have arrested a "regular citizen" for having done the exact same thing in self-defense.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. — Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
