The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is applauding the 424-1 House vote approving the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act, thereby crushing the Biden administrations effort to block federal funding for school shooting sports programs. Joe Bidens attempt to stop funding for these important school programs was yet another demonstration of just how extreme this administration can be when it comes to guns and even hunting, said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. These are programs that not only provide valuable and genuine safety training, but they also contribute to teaching the next generation about wildlife conservation while passing along an American tradition.

Another person has been sentenced for stealing guns from a business in Derry. Gary Ortiz Jr., 19, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, was part of a group that broke into Second Amendment Outdoors in December 2021 and stole a dozen guns.

On Sept. 1, Jackson Mayor Carlos Duffey joined 42 other mayors from around the state to send a letter asking Gov. Brian Kemp and the members of the Georgia General Assembly to take action to lessen gun violence in Georgia. California has the strictest firearm laws in the United States, but a large number of violent crimes still involve a firearm. A new report from the Public Policy Institute of California lays out the number of violent crimes involving a firearm in the state, and the numbers are staggering. While the number fell to 24.3% in 2022, the number is still up from pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Since 2019, aggravated assaults with a gun have increased by 61%, homicides by 38%, and robberies by 13%.
