I know I don’t stand alone when I say that I am absolutely tired of reading headlines such as “Three Shot, One killed, Near Sacramento City College.” .
My feelings of shock and surprise have long ago been exchanged with extreme emotions of rage and bitter annoyance above all. Why does our so called “progressive” country still permit us to own guns? |

Supporters insist that allowing people to legally carry concealed handguns reduces crime, but that has not been the result in at least four states that have tried it, including Texas, according to a newly published academic study led by a Texas A&M researcher. |

If you happen to think killing two birds with one stone is a bit inefficient, or you have found your way into a zombie apocalypse, you might be interested in a special type of gun known as a “punt gun,” that used to be somewhat common among commercial waterfowl hunters. What’s so special about this gun? It is capable of killing upwards of 50-100 birds in a single shot. |

The first tanks were developed during the latter half of World War I, and right along with them came the first anti-tank rifles. Specifically, the German Mauser company designed a massive scaled-up bolt action rifle using a 13.2mm armor-piercing cartridge which could shoot clean through the new Allied tanks. However, despite more than 15,000 of these rifles being produced by the end of the war, they were not enough to turn the tide of advancing Allied armies reinforced with many divisions of fresh American troops. |

Madeline Singas, Acting District Attorney for Nassau County, New York, is a hypocrite. Worse, she is willing to gamble with the lives and safety of her staff and their families for her own perceived political benefit. While claiming “a commitment to justice, compassion, and integrity” and boasting about keeping “more vulnerable people safe,” she enforces a policy of mandatory disarmament amongst the attorneys who put their own safety on the line to administer justice in her jurisdiction. On Monday, Prof. Eugene Volokh broke the story that the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office bars prosecutors from having handguns, even at home.

There is an ongoing push in Congress to ban the ability of states to legalize Internet gaming. Rumors are swirling in Congress of an end of the year deal that will impose a short-term gaming ban; they are calling it a “moratorium and study,” that, if passed, will violate the 10th Amendment to the Constitution as much as a permanent one. |

Prosecutors in Green County have cleared two sheriff’s deputies of wrongdoing in connection with the fatal shooting of a homicide suspect who pointed an empty gun at them.
In a report Friday, District Attorney Gary Luhman said Deputies Cody Kanable and John Schuetz were acting in self-defense and were justified when they shot 25-year-old Francisco Benitez-Santiago, of Monroe, in July.
According to Luhman’s report, Benitez-Santiago was hiding behind a building when he turned toward the deputies and pointed a pistol at them. They had no room to retreat. |

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled seven years ago in District of Columbia vs. Heller that the Second Amendment “conferred an individual right to keep and bear arms,” but it also said that right was “not unlimited.” Government and courts have been wrestling ever since over just how far an individual’s right goes, and a decision last week by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit may help draw some much-needed boundaries.

What do you get when you combine a box full of dry ice and six firearms? Other than good chance of nobody ever loaning you a gun again, you get a pretty neat science experiment. The guys behind the YouTube channel LDF Research decided to pack a crate full of dry ice and then freeze several guns to test whether they would run when frozen (almost) solid. Needless to say, when you can’t even chamber a round, firing the rifle is not going to be easy. |

An eye peers down the metal sights. Lungs expand and deflate. A twitch of a finger starts a chain reaction as the trigger is pulled. In an instant, the firing pin strikes the primer of a bullet or shell, forming a spark, which ignites the gunpowder and launches the projectile forward through the barrel in the desired direction.
According to the Pew Research Center, about one in three Americans owns a firearm. Vehement debate surrounds the purpose and place of guns in American society. Political action groups lobby for their protection or for their control. |

An associate law professor has filed suit against the University of Missouri, contending that its ban on having firearms on campus contradicts a new state constitutional provision.
Royce de R. Barondes, who teaches a class on firearms law, seeks a court order declaring that the ban is unconstitutional under an amendment approved by state voters last year. It says that courts must apply strict scrutiny to laws restricting the possession of firearms and ammunition, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune and the Columbia Missourian.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston |
