American Police Force is to boss a state of the art internment camp...APF agents will be foreign mercenaries after training is completed and the organizations ultimate goal is to establishment a permanent presence in the town while scouting out another 30 U.S. towns for a similar occupation-style mandate. The writer claims that APF agents are already harassing citizens, setting up roadblocks and that they told a local business owner that they had a register of all the gun owners in the town.

HARDIN, Mont. (CBS/AP) This is the strange story of how American Police Force, a little known company which claims to specialize in training military and security forces overseas, has seemingly taken control of a $27 million, never-used jail, and a rural Montana town's nonexistent police force.
After arriving in this tiny city with three Mercedes SUVs marked with the logo of a police department that has never existed, representatives of the obscure California security company said preparations were under way to take over Hardin's jail, which has no prisoners.

That would appear to be the business plan of an enigmatic California company called American Police Force (APF), which appears to be effectively taking over the town of Hardin, Montana.

The "it" in question is a large jail facility outside Hardin, Montana, that was built several years ago but thus far remains unused. "They" refers to prisoners to fill said jail -- a 114,000 square foot, 464-bed facility. APF has yet to become firmly established in Hardin (pop. 3,400), but the company's representatives are confident "the place [meaning the jail] would start filling up by 2010."

A Yuba City, CA man used his handgun to fend off three burglars who invaded his home and endangered his life.

Police say that two females and one male broke into David Massey Yuba City, CA home. Massey reportedly discovered one of the female home invaders in his kitchen, grabbed his gun, and chased the suspects from his home. The suspects are said to have gotten into to a Ford Explorer parked in Massey's circular driveway, then driven the vehicle towards Massey, prompting him to fire into the vehicle in an attempt to stop it and save himself. The explorer rolled on its side, and the suspects fled on foot through a nearby prune orchard. Police reportedly arrested 3 suspects nearby a short while later.

In a first-of-its-kind study, epidemiologists at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine found that, on average, guns did not protect those who possessed them from being shot in an assault. The study estimated that people with a gun were 4.5 times more likely to be shot in an assault than those not possessing a gun.

The study was released online this month in the American Journal of Public Health, in advance of print publication in November 2009.

"This study helps resolve the long-standing debate about whether guns are protective or perilous," notes study author Charles C. Branas, Ph.D., ... "Will possessing a firearm always safeguard against harm or will it promote a false sense of security?"

In the famous Agatha Cristie novel And Then There Were None a group of people on an island mysteriously begins to die off due to accident or foul play. This plot is playing out in real life today with state bans on carrying handgun for lawful purposes in alcohol serving restaurants - these bans are rapidly dying off.

Several months ago, the TRA negotiated a deal the details of which remain secret with a private security firm called American Police Force (APF), which was incorporated in Santa Ana, California last March.

The deal reportedly includes $2.6 million for APF to run the jail, plus $23 million to run a 30,000-square foot training facility for military and police personnel on property managed by the TRA.

In addition, APF promises to shower the city will all kinds of amenities computers for the local schools, donations to the local food bank, tricked-out cars for the local police force. Whoops, did I mention that last item out loud?

For most people, the government makes it illegal to properly defend yourself. Possession of bear spray in most cases is illegal, Mr. Dubowitz works as a hunting guide and can legally own it, police can also legally posses and use it; for everyone else not involved in hunting it is prohibited in Manitoba. Owning a gun, while very restricted, is possible. However, being able to use it for self-defense is made nearly impossible by the government. You need to keep the gun and the ammunition in separate locked rooms, in locked cases. When someone is banging on your front door trying to kill you and possibly your family, would you have time to retrieve the weapon to defend yourself with?

As reported in the Alamogordo Daily News today, the Alamogordo, NM Police have paid $21,000 to settle with Matthew A. St. John whom police detained for open carrying a holstered handgun at a movie theater. This settlement follows a host of settlements by police departments around the country with plaintiffs who were detained by police for openly carrying a holstered handgun, including Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Virginia (see another settlement here), and Georgia. More cases are still pending in . . .

At the 9/12 protests and thereafter, many patriotic Americans were discussing both the 2010 and 2012 elections.

The fundamental problem is that while the Dems are utterly in the thrall of the Mighty Kenyan and his Red accomplices, the Republican Party is hardly better.

As a friend is fond of saying, "Today's Republicans simply want to take the scenic road to serfdom."

India: Kashmir girl fights off militants

A teenage girl says she killed a militant with his own gun after insurgents attacked their home in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Three militants stormed into Rukhsana Kauser's home in a remote village in Jammu region on Monday and started beating her parents in front of her.

One of the militants wanted to marry Ms Kauser against her will, police said.

"I thought I should try the bold act of encountering militants before dying."

Ms Kauser said she grabbed one of the militants by the hair and banged his head against the wall. When he fell down she hit him with an axe, before snatching his rifle.

"Somehow I gathered courage - I fired and fought till dead tired."

An attempted robbery in Murray Hill may have been thwarted by a homeowner early Wednesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Larry Schmitt, with JSO, said when police arrived at a home in the 3000 block of College Street, they found a man shot multiple times. Schmitt said the homeowner was outside with some friends shortly after 2 a.m. when two men attempted to rob them. The homeowner and one of his friends each had a gun and shot one of the apparent robbers, according to police.

The local city police department where I live has been asking for more money for quite some time now. They were recently rebuffed by the taxpayers when they tried to raise the local sales tax to support their operations. Next they created a non-profit organization called The Lompoc Police Foundation to raise private funds for the police department. What is the first thing that they want to do wit the much needed money? Why buy sound suppressors for their weapons and sniper rifle of course. This is a low crime rural community of 40,000 people. I wrote in to express my displeasure and got many angry respondents who told me I was the problem. Please read the letter to the editor and add your comments.

There is no graver threat to Newarks reputation, or bigger obstacle to its economic success, than gun violence. Fear deadens neighborhoods, and scares visitors off. While statistics show Newark homicides and shootings have declined, any spree of violence or highly-publicized shooting brings the perception that the city is a dangerous place in every corner. Fear rules, justified or not.

A retired police officer-turned-pastor shot and wounded a man who broke into his Detroit church, police said Monday.

Lawrence Adams went to Westside Bible Church on Sunday evening and found the intruder inside the building, said Detroit police Sgt. Eren Stephens. The man began swinging an object at the retired police lieutenant, who pulled out a handgun and shot him in the abdomen, he said.

In another major victory for Arizona gun owners and Arizona Concealed Weapons permit holders, Governor Brewer signed into law the so called "Parking Lot Law". The new law, which takes effect today, permits gun owners to keep a firearm locked inside their vehicle even if the vehicle is parked on private property owned by a business that prohibits weapons on their premises.

Prior to the passage of this law, businesses could prohibit employees or visitor from bringing a firearm on to their private property. This effectively kept gun owners from exercising their Second Amendment right to carry a firearm for personal defense.
