Heads of state are also urged to accept more gun control, by curbing the "illegal traffic in small arms" by "creating greater transparency in arms transfers; supporting regional disarmament measures, such as the moratorium on the importing, exporting and manufacturing of light weapons in West Africa; and extending to other areas -- especially post-conflict situations -- the 'weapons for goods' programs that have worked well in Mozambique, Panama, El Salvador and Albania." |

The Lie:
"Rich Brown of Grosse Pointe Park was among a handful of representatives for the Million Moms March, a group in favor of stricter gun controls. He said the group is not seeking to outlaw guns."
REALITY: The MMM in Illinois fully supported the recent attempted (and failed) gun ban in one town. Perhaps this male mommy marcher should further investigate the gun-banners he calls his own.

Americans who've had enough with oppressive gun laws will be watching Canada in the coming months - and especially after the first of the year. The resistance to federally-mandated gun registration and licensing increases daily. Entire provinces have said NO to registration, Alberta will possibly be joining them, and here is a report about potential "shoot-ins" where citizens would gather publicly and shoot their unregistered weapons.

"Among the film's safety tips: Keep guns locked. Lock ammunition in a separate place. Treat every gun as loaded. When handling a gun, keep your finger off the trigger. Never point a gun at someone you do not want to destroy. Never handle a gun without adult supervision. If you see someone handling a gun unsafely, leave."

Australia: Police are still waiting to interview a nine-year-old boy injured during a shooting...
The boys' 10-year-old brother died after a gun they were apparently playing with accidentally discharged.
The boys' father has been questioned, but police say no charges have been laid.
The shooting has led to calls for tougher gun laws. Superintendent Dave Dettman from the police regulatory branch says he is confident legal requirements, particularly for gun storage, are tough enough.

STAY ALERT IN YOUR HOME:
Since late May, police had investigated five separate home invasions in Kansas City, Kan., where the intruders impersonated law enforcement officers. Three similar crimes have occurred in Johnson County.
In each case, the intruders burst through front doors late at night, terrorized the residents and stole money and guns. Sometimes they also took jewelry and electronic equipment.

Death Row Marv allows children to electrocute a plastic doll based on a comic book character ostensibly convicted of murdering the man who killed his girlfriend.
Strapped into the chair, the 6-inch figure can move his neck, shoulders, waist and wrists. As the current is applied, his eyes glow red and his body convulses. In his death throes he taunts his executioners through clenched teeth: "That the best you can do, you pansies?" ------ And British folks say American kids are violent. |

"Ohio's concealed weapons law will face its first serious challenge this week in a Hamilton County courtroom. It will not be the last."
"The Hamilton County case is the beginning of a legal crusade that gun activists hope will overturn the law in all 88 Ohio counties."
"The goal is to convince a Hamilton County judge the law is unconstitutional, and then use that victory to convince judges in every other county." |

"CHILDREN as young as four in New Zealand are being required to apply for "licences" for toy guns. The scheme was launched at Tahunanui kindergarten in Nelson, South Island, and is spreading rapidly. Children must answer questions and learn rules before they can play gun games. Card licences must then be carried." |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
To trust arms in the hands of the people at large has, in Europe, been believed...to be an experiment fraught only with danger. Here by a long trial it has been proved to be perfectly harmless...If the government be equitable; if it be reasonable in its exactions; if proper attention be paid to the education of children in knowledge and religion, few men will be disposed to use arms, unless for their amusement, and for the defence of themselves and their country. — Timothy Dwight, Travels in New England and New York [London 1823] |
